Chapter 83

Chapter 80: Big Bro Takes Me Under His Wing!

Roy’s heart sank.

He figured the Golden-Winged Griffin wouldn’t easily accept a lord, but he never expected such a strong rejection.

But Roy wasn’t about to give up that easily.

“At least tell me your wish, okay? If you don’t say anything, how am I supposed to help you?” Roy casually plopped down next to the Golden-Winged Griffin.

The griffin hesitated for a moment, then lazily curled up beside Roy like a big cat, speaking in a moody tone about its past.

“I’ve never worried about food or clothes since I was a kid, super strong, could command thunder, got along well with my bros, and had no rivals among the young griffins—life was good.”

“Until one day…”

It opened its mouth and looked up, appearing quite pained.

“Until one day?” Roy quickly pressed.

“I found out that my brothers were ignoring me!”

“They didn’t want to play or hunt with me anymore; they just hung out with those females every day!”

Roy was stunned for a moment before responding, “So?”

Does this guy really look down on those bro-obsessed bros?

Unexpectedly, the Golden-Winged Griffin suddenly lifted its head and howled to the sky, lightning crackling all around: “I’m so envious!”

“I want to soar through the clouds with beautiful females, roll around in the grass, bathe in the river, and just… hang out!”

Roy suddenly felt that the griffin before him no longer seemed majestic but rather as pitiful as a stray dog.

So, it’s just a lonely guy looking for a partner!

Having been single in two lives, Roy could totally empathize with its suffering.

He patted its golden wing sympathetically, adopting the tone he once used to comfort his heartbroken roommates: “Buddy, just chill, even without romance, life can go on!”

However, the Golden-Winged Griffin’s big eyes were filled with tears, looking even more aggrieved than before.

“No, you don’t understand!”

“Wherever I go, all those griffins are paired up! I can’t even take a walk without bumping into couples or go swimming without seeing a pair! Even when I’m sleeping in my den, I can hear the noise of two-some activities next door! I’m really fed up!”

“I want females, waah~!”

As the Golden-Winged Griffin howled, it shot off electricity, making it look like it was at a rock concert.

Though the tone was tragic, it was almost comical to listen to. Roy struggled to keep a polite and sympathetic expression.

After covering his ears and managing to get through that, he curiously asked, “Wait a minute, with such nice fur, don’t you have any… females who fancy you?”

He remembered reading in “Griffin Behaviors” that griffins prefer those with beautiful coats.

That mention completely threw the Golden-Winged Griffin into a deeper sorrow.

“No! They all say I’m strange!”

“Everyone likes brown and gray ones; do you humans really like females that are striped like a zebra with mixed colors?!”

Roy fell silent.

What it said actually made some sense! No matter how diverse preferences for skin colors might be, no one would want a mix of colors, right?!

Roy originally thought this golden griffin was cool, but after hearing its words, he began to think it was a bit weird!

Wait, shouldn’t the kingly bloodline have some kind of attraction for its kind?

“Your bloodline is pretty special; doesn’t any female find your bloodline appealing?” Roy asked for confirmation.

This was a critical blow—the Golden-Winged Griffin froze as if pierced by unseen arrows, staring at the ground blankly for several seconds, then lowered its head with downcast eyes.

“They…”

“They all say I give off a fatherly vibe!”

Now Roy really didn’t know what to say.

It was one thing to be discriminated against as a griffin, but how could even its royal bloodline not gain any attention from females?!

Could the aura of its bloodline actually make lower-tier griffins uncomfortable?

Roy could guess the reason but didn’t know how to say it.

Even telling this big bro ‘you’re the chosen griffin’ or ‘you’re too awesome, so those females aren’t deserving’ wouldn’t lift its spirits.

What did the little griffin do wrong? It just wanted to date, for crying out loud!

Thinking this way, Roy felt a bit sympathetic towards it.

“So you can’t help me.” The Golden-Winged Griffin forced a miserable smile.

“But chatting with you is nice. Thanks for listening, but I should head back.”

“Wait, don’t go!” As the Golden-Winged Griffin began to rise, Roy quickly grabbed its fluffy wing.

“Sorry, I only came to check out the commotion and never intended to become a lord.” The Golden-Winged Griffin seemed stronger than the average griffin, and Roy, as an Extraordinary Being, was unable to pull it back, only managing to grab a few strands of its fur.

Just as Roy was getting anxious, a light bulb went off in his head.

Want a pretty female, huh? Well, I might just have one!

“I know you don’t want to leave! But what if you could meet a beautiful, cute female who wouldn’t mind you?!”

At Roy’s inquiry, the Golden-Winged Griffin came to a screeching halt!

It turned back, its previously miserable gaze sharpening: “…How pretty?”

“Her fur is a lot like yours, golden like the morning sun, red like blazing fire, as soft as velvet, petite yet beautifully curved—at least from my viewpoint, there’s no prettier griffin around here!” Roy said seriously, maintaining a poker face.

The Golden-Winged Griffin, who had merely asked out of casual curiosity, suddenly had a perfect figure in its mind.

It was like the ideal little girl in the heart of a serious shota lover; golden hair, red dress, sweet and cute, with an adorable voice!

The griffin grinned, nearly drooling.

Finally managing to swallow its saliva, it hesitated, “She really wouldn’t mind me?”

“If you don’t try, how will you know?” Roy replied.

The Golden-Winged Griffin began pacing, its eyes darting between hope and doubt: “You’re not lying to me, right?”

“True heart for true heart! If I’m lying, then I’m a dog!”

With that, Roy landed the final blow.

“Besides, buddy, you don’t want to spend your life cooped up in a cave listening to the noise of couples next door, do you? At least if you follow me, you can sleep peacefully!”

The Golden-Winged Griffin trembled with resolve, finally letting out a shout.

“You’re right!”

“I’m fed up!”

“Rather than stay here and be laughed at by those couples, I’d rather hang out with you! No, from now on, you’re my big bro!”

Roy was overjoyed: “So, um, what about that…?”

“Bro hug!”

The projection only showed Roy’s back, and given that their conversation was in griffin language, everyone was clueless about what Roy was actually doing.

To onlookers, it just looked like Roy was at a loss with the rare golden griffin.

Unbeknownst to them, the audience began to murmur not with laughter, but more with pity.

A boy completely unscathed by any griffin attacks, facing the Golden-Winged Griffin that hadn’t been seen since the founding of the kingdom—this should’ve been historic.

Meanwhile, Leo secretly sent a message to Lord Robert, saying, “Even if you give him one day, if it can’t be done, it can’t be done. Your Majesty, maybe we should announce the end of the Trial…”

“Wait! Look!” Charlotte called out excitedly.

Leo turned back to the projection, unable to believe his eyes as the Golden-Winged Griffin lowered its proud head to Roy!
