Chapter 128: Your Husband, I Will Raise

“Master is busy right now…”

The little maid gazed northward, her cerulean eyes dimming as she slightly lowered her head, her entire demeanor spelling disappointment.

“Once Roy is done, he’ll come back. Compared to that scoundrel…”

The elven girl said this as she stealthily ambushed the little maid from behind, wrapping her arms around her and grinning mischievously, “Let me see how little Alice has developed during this long holiday!”

“Um~, wait, wait…”

“Not waiting! Oh wow, you really have developed! Keep it up, and you might surpass that flat-chested princess and leave her behind!”

Alice’s cheeks flushed red, feeling a bit embarrassed, “That kind of thing doesn’t matter…”

The brown-haired girl, while refraining from the playful scuffle, raised her eyebrows in a teasing way, “What if I said Roy prefers the bigger ones?”

“?!”

The usually indifferent little maid suddenly became obsessed with the topic of breast size.

However, amid the noise, Charlotte frowned, not getting angry as she usually would, but instead steadfastly clung to her belief that if there isn’t fairness in the world, chaos ensues.

“Are you guys really not concerned?” Charlotte raised her head, her tone heavily serious.

Nia, who loved hanging out at taverns and was well-informed, was the first to catch on, releasing the little maid’s well-developed figure, “Are you talking about the situation at the imperial border?”

“The Academy City’s reinforcements have arrived, and the defense lines have been strengthened. Roy should be fine.” Leanna, being a member of the Mage Guild, knew quite a bit of the inside scoop.

But Charlotte’s frown not only didn’t relax but grew even deeper.

“I’m not worried about his physical safety.”

“I’m worried about his emotional safety.”

“Do you guys not worry at all about a solo male and female traveling together in the snowy country?”

Every time they don’t meet for a bit longer, a new woman seems to appear around Roy!

To be honest, Charlotte was almost developing PTSD from this.

Nia and Leanna exchanged glances, then burst into laughter simultaneously.

“What are you thinking? It’s perfectly normal for a teacher-student duo to go out to study during a holiday.” Nia jumped onto the sofa, crossed her legs, and joked, “I know you miss Roy, but you don’t have to scare yourself like this, right?”

“Heh, girls with too much possessiveness aren’t liked by boys, you know?” Leanna shrugged, leisurely saying, “I think it’s better to give boys some personal space.”

Charlotte’s mouth twitched.

You two really have the nerve to say that!

With you two as examples, it’s a miracle I’m not worried!

Seeing that they took her words lightly, Charlotte tightened her fists.

In the past, she would’ve had a battle with these two bimbos.

But now, with the big picture at stake, Charlotte didn’t have time to settle scores with them.

“Forget everything else; I’m just asking you this—Is Xue Nuo pretty?”

The chatter among the girls abruptly ceased.

The slender figure had always been the ideal body shape Nia dreamed of, while Leanna felt dwarfed next to the imperial beauty’s snow-like skin.

Though from a comprehensive perspective, it was hard to judge which of the girls excelled, beauty-wise, girls were always more sensitive about their own shortcomings.

“Xue Nuo’s appearance is quite commendable,” Leanna paused, then switched gears, “But her personality doesn’t seem like someone who’d be interested in men.”

“She was my homeroom teacher in the first year. As far as I know, not a single young talent from the whole Academy caught her eye. She hardly even participated in gatherings with other girls.”

A rose from a high peak? A proud snow wolf in the imperial snow?

Heh, just a single dog who can’t let go of her pride!

At this point, as a social butterfly, Leanna expressed a hint of disdain for single folks: “Such people are destined to be far from love.”

However, Charlotte shook her head.

“No, you don’t understand her.”

“Oh? So you understand her very well?”

“Yup.” Charlotte nodded.

“When I was little, the relationship between the Empire and the Kingdom was pretty good. I often visited the Empire with my mother and got to know that girl early on.”

To outsiders, Xue Nuo indeed seemed very aloof.

But that was just a facade; or rather, that icy aura keeping people at bay wasn’t permanent.

There were two specific things that left a deep impression on Charlotte.

First, she was really into knight literature and frequently chatted with Xue Nuo about such topics.

When discussing the scene where the hero kills a lizard man to rescue a beauty, Charlotte was infatuated with the hero’s elegance. But Xue Nuo seriously critiqued, “Why not kill a dragon instead?”

Second, when they got a bit older, they inevitably talked about their preferences in men.

Although Charlotte didn’t think highly of Winter, from an outsider’s perspective, she thought they actually matched pretty well at first glance.

Little did she know that when she asked, Xue Nuo’s answer hit her young heart hard.

“Winter is too old.”

“If I must date outside of my race, I prefer someone younger, cuter.”

That was probably the only time Charlotte had seen the silver-haired girl showing bashfulness.

By the way, Winter and Xue Nuo were the same age, just a few months apart.

After explaining all these past events, Charlotte summed up, “So, Xue Nuo isn’t always that cold.”

“Unless the other party is really strong enough or young enough to meet her taste.”

A lover of power who prefers younger boys.

That is the true face of the Ice Rose.

Sadly, even when Winter was at his best, he didn’t stand a chance. After all, in terms of age, he was already a pass.

With Charlotte’s analysis, Leanna’s expression finally darkened.

Strong in strength, and younger.

Doesn’t that mean Roy fits the bill perfectly?!

“Wait, wait!”

Nia threw up her hands, interrupting the conversation, chuckling, “Are you guys just making wild guesses at this point?”

“Counting the time, Roy will be back soon. Instead of scaring yourselves here, why not just wait for him to come back and ask directly!”

“Besides, they’re teacher and student! How could a mentor and a pupil be in a romantic relationship?”

Leanna’s face stiffened: “You don’t get it.”

“The more serious they are on the surface, the more fun they have in private.”

Thinking of Leanna as the Student Council President often teasing Roy with playful innuendos, Nia found her words surprisingly persuasive, and a reluctant smile crept onto her face.

The atmosphere grew increasingly awkward until Alice suddenly said, “Speaking of which, I think there’s a letter in the mailbox.”

Nia’s eyes lit up: “Oh? Maybe it’s a letter from Roy!”

Alice hurriedly fetched the letter.

But it wasn’t Roy’s letter. The crest on it clearly belonged to the Andervich family, located at the imperial border—a snowdrop.

Upon seeing this mark, the expressions of all of them turned grim.

The content of the letter dealt them a stunning blow.

The first half praised Roy’s participation in the battle for reclaiming Snowwind Fortress.

But the second half…

“[Roy has temporarily lost his memory due to using divine powers. He needs long-term care in Quiet Wind City to recover. The return date to school is pending. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of him—by Xue Nuo Andervich].”
