Chapter 445

Chapter 152: The Dagger is Coated with Deadly Poison (Slurp)

“Is this for real?! She’s really only Sequence 7?!” The mages sustaining the barrier, led by Kreya, couldn’t help but put on their pain masks.

This wasn’t the Cassandra Family Mansion; the guards could afford to relax. A temporary barrier always required mages for maintenance.

None of them expected that under Charlotte’s assault, the barrier, strong enough to withstand a full strike from Sequence 6, was visibly diminishing.

It wasn’t just Charlotte’s own strength; those incredibly agile Gryphon Knights could always dodge their magic, making things a real hassle.

Leanna and Charlotte were separated by mere inches, yet separated by the barrier.

As Charlotte tore at the barrier, she growled like a bloodthirsty lion, “Leanna, just wait for me…”

But in that moment, Leanna suddenly paused, a look of realization dawning on her face as she smirked.

The grand offensive was merely a distraction. Just moments ago, the shadow snakes she had set up in the back were taken out, indicating someone had sneaked in from the blind spot of the barrier.

“Oh, I see, playing those tricks, huh?”

“!”

“Sorry, little junior, but I won’t entertain you for now.”

“What, are you scared of me?!” Charlotte smashed her fist against the barrier, causing fiery shockwaves to scatter, making even the Gryphon Knights hesitant to approach.

Leanna, about to turn away, halted and shot a disdainful glance back.

“A little kitty cat that’s just meowing, how cute.”

“You…!”

No matter how much Charlotte roared in anger, the witch had already transformed into a shadow and slipped away.

————————

The villa’s southern side was ablaze, while the northern forest was eerily quiet. Several figures, light as a swallow, darted through the trees, almost making no sound.

Nia had only hired top-notch stealthy adventurers.

The black mage was already crafty, and there were rumors that Leanna had advanced to Sequence 6.

Engaging directly wasn’t smart.

The priority was to rescue Roy.

So, Charlotte was in charge of drawing attention while Nia took the chance to sneak into the blind spot of the barrier to save him.

Unlike the flat mansion, the mountainous terrain was complex, making it difficult to establish an all-seeing barrier defense.

But for the Forest Elves, any forest felt like home.

Before long, the villa atop the mountain came into view.

Just imagining the hardships the boy had endured these past days made Nia grit her teeth in anger.

“Wait for me, I’m coming to save you…!”

Just then, Nia felt a jolt in her heart; she noticed shadows swirling in the darkness and, relying on her quick reflexes, leaped aside.

But others weren’t so lucky.

The Hydra lunged forward suddenly, charging fiercely.

Thick trees were uprooted, and the adventurers were caught off guard, sent flying before being swallowed one by one by the massive snake heads, crashing down to the ground.

In the blink of an eye, nine seasoned adventurers were left unconscious, unable to fight back.

Shadows swirled, sketching out the silhouette of a brown-haired figure.

“This is so troublesome, just a moment of inattention and sneaky little thieves slip in.”

Leanna didn’t appear as calm as she looked.

If she hadn’t set up the shadow snakes as watchful eyes beforehand, she might have truly fallen for their trick.

Roy was almost taken back from her!

Nia couldn’t help but scoff internally.

The flat-chested princess was too unreliable; she couldn’t even hold them off for such a short time?!

Nia mocked, “Oh, oh, oh, a thief catching another thief?”

“If we’re naming names, you’re the one acting like the thief here!”

“Is there a possibility…” Leanna swayed gracefully closer, chuckling softly: “He’s doing this willingly?”

“Are you kidding me?” Nia intentionally stretched her mouth into a grin, shrugged, and lazily glanced at the witch: “What do you have to make him do that willingly?”

“Hmm, putting everything aside, the most obvious is this, right?” Leanna pretended to contemplate, one hand covering her mouth while the other rested on her waist, her figure accentuated by her long skirt as she threw a taunting glance: “Unlike some, who are a bit plump, it’s no wonder a boy would abandon you.”

Nia’s smile froze.

She was still smiling, but the coldness in her emerald eyes was palpable.

Taking a deep breath, she sighed and said, “Honestly, I totally get it.”

“Roy is handsome and gentle, reliable in a crisis, not vocal about it, yet always caring for those around him.” The elven girl closed her eyes, counting on her fingers the qualities of her beloved, looking incredibly sweet. “It’s understandable for someone like him to be targeted by a scheming woman like you.”

“So, I don’t hate you; I only hate myself.”

When she opened her eyes again, Nia’s gaze sharpened, resembling an eagle rather than a nightingale.

“Allowing a woman like you to take advantage of a gap was my mistake.”

“And now, I’m going to make up for that mistake.”

Nia pointed at Leanna, sneering: “Today, I’m going to tear off your snake skin so Roy can see your true colors!”

Hearing this, Leanna couldn’t help but chuckle.

The massive body of the Hydra swayed in the darkness, mirroring its master’s emotions, causing the ground to tremble with its descending pressure.

“Just you as a Sequence 7?”

“Ha, I may not be able to defeat you, but just like Charlotte brought her Gryphon Knights, do you think I haven’t prepared anything else besides adventurers?”

As her words dropped, Nia drew out her mithril twin blades.

However, the originally gleaming silver blades now emitted an eerie pink glow, accompanied by a strange and sweet scent.

Leanna frowned slightly, instinctively feeling a hint of danger, pushing the Hydra in front of her.

The Lionheart Princess’s fiery magic had explosive power far beyond that of other Extraordinary Beings, making her the highest threat.

Yet now, she realized she had underestimated the elven girl before her.

Elven descendants had a long history and diverse methods, easily matching that of mages.

Nia skillfully twirled her twin blades, raising an eyebrow, openly showing off: “You know what? Roy gave me these.”

She stared at Leanna’s delicate figure, licking the blade with malice, grinning wickedly: “This is coated with the secret love poison from the Emerald Council! Just one drop is enough to make anyone wish for death while gasping for air! Even Sequence 6 wouldn’t withstand it!”

“I may not be able to beat you, but as long as I land a hit, you can forget about standing up straight today!”

“Haha, I wonder how the refined senior will look with a flushed face, drooling uncontrollably. What would Roy think of you then~”

Nia revealed a villainous smirk, swinging her blades and leaping at Leanna.

In terms of combat power, she was no match for Charlotte.

But when it came to theatrics, she had plenty of ways to make Leanna lose face—

That was how it should be.

Yet, barely taking two steps, the elven girl tripped and fell flat on the ground as if she’d drunk bad wine.

When she looked up again, her face was flushed, her voice trembled with a hint of sweetness, full of disbelief: “What, what did you do?!”

Only then did Leanna smirk, revealing a sinister grin a hundred times more malicious than Nia’s.

Her purple eyes sparkled with a magical light.

She watched Nia’s increasingly dazed eyes, clapping her hands.

“Just like a Forest Elf, this love poison really surprised me.”

“But did you ever think you’d end up affected too?”
