Chapter 415
Chapter 122: Two Bad News
【False King】: Sequence 8
【???’s Blessing】:
【Purification】: Bodily fluids possess purifying characteristics, capable of generating purifying power to suppress and cleanse all magical and sinister forces.
【Mirror Flower Water Moon】: A unique phantom step of the merfolk, combining illusions with footwork to create a marvelous rhythm that disrupts the enemy’s attack pace.
【Bard’s Illusory Song】: A special ability of the merfolk that releases extraordinary waves through song. It can soothe souls, induce hypnosis, or disrupt the enemy’s bloodline, leading to undefendable mental attacks.
Truly worthy of the Sea Emperor status, even without fully digesting the Certificate of Kingship and receiving the true blessing, it’s impressive to gain so many abilities.
Roy suspected that Leviathan’s kiss had granted Dorothy some degree of divine power, resonating with his own bloodline.
The power from Sea Emperor: Leviathan may appear less formidable than that of the Dragon King and True Ancestor, but its variety is its strength.
Mirror Flower Water Moon provided him with greater maneuverability against enemies, no longer just a straightforward clash.
Bard’s Illusory Song is similar to Dragon Might and Charm, falling into the control category, but its versatility is high and is a true offensive move, rather than just interrupting opponent actions.
Roy sensed that this move could be a bit useless against enemies of similar bloodline rank, but it would be quite effective against those clearly stronger than him.
However, what could truly seal the deal was Purification.
Blood is indeed a type of bodily fluid.
His blood would contain the same purifying power as that of humans, making it a terrifying weapon against the Demon Race, not any less than Holy Light!
Leviathan didn’t harm Dorothy just because she didn’t want to; she was merely executing a precise operation. He, however, needed no such finesse—he could just unleash his power violently at Diabolus!
Yet his blood, resembling both the Blood Clan and the merfolk, left him with an uneasy feeling—he felt like he was moving further away from humanity…
But the joy of gaining new abilities didn’t let Roy linger too long.
A commotion arose outside the tent.
Realizing footsteps were approaching, Roy quickly donned his hood, pulled the blanket over the girl sleeping soundly beside him, and stepped outside.
Soldiers rushed back and forth, hurriedly donning their golden armor, the entire camp was in chaos, thick with tension.
Malfoy and Hex, followed by Reid, arrived one after another.
Malfoy looked grave while the other two were sweating profusely, incredibly tense.
“Sword Demon, the situation is urgent. There are two pieces of news.”
“One good news and one bad news?” Roy asked.
Malfoy looked even worse: “Unfortunately, it’s all bad news.”
“Our reinforcements were attacked by cultists and can’t make it here for now.”
Roy couldn’t help but frown.
Do cultists and the Demon Race have connections? Why wouldn’t they just stay at the mansion to help Diabolus defend?
If a few cult priests were stationed there, they probably wouldn’t even be able to breach the mansion.
Could there be a third party involved…
Roy didn’t have time to think further when Malfoy revealed the second piece of news.
An even worse news.
“Inside the Cassandra Family Mansion, a large number of demon races have appeared and are now marching towards us.”
Roy confirmed, “How many specifically?”
“At least a thousand.” Malfoy’s lips trembled a bit.
Not all demons are extraordinary beings, but ordinary demons definitely possess superior strength compared to average humans.
Historical records show that the most elite human armies suffered a casualty ratio of two to one against the Demon Race.
And the regular army of the Magic Nation is far from elite.
The regular troops had already lost half in yesterday’s battle, and the mage group suffered considerable losses. Plus, the Cassandra family had fearless cult monsters…
“Are you planning to retreat?”
Malfoy shook his head: “I wish we could, but the demon army is launching a night raid. Retreating now would only let them charge right into our ranks, leading to annihilation.”
“Our only option is to face them head-on.” Malfoy’s tone was quite lacking in confidence.
Hex couldn’t help but curse, acting as Roy’s mouthpiece: “Just one demon would be bad enough; how on earth did over a thousand demons sneak in? Are the people at Desperate Defense Line blind?!”
Malfoy looked at the two adventurers, sighing: “At this point, this situation has far surpassed the initial intent of hiring you all.”
“If you wish to withdraw, I won’t stop you. In fact, given how things are, I wouldn’t want to involve you in unnecessary sacrifices.”
Roy didn’t speak, but he thought the same way.
However, Hex and Reid exchanged glances, broke into hearty laughs, and looked at Roy.
“Since Sword Demon isn’t leaving, why should we be the first to back down? Besides, I’ve been itching to test my mettle against the demons!”
“Exactly. As members of the human race, how can we shrink back in front of our enemies?!”
Roy couldn’t help but mumble, “You guys don’t need to follow me.”
However, to Hex, this sounded like the older adventurer caring for the newcomers, so he grinned widely: “Sword Demon, no need to worry about us. As adventurers, we took the commission, so we naturally must see it through! This is a unanimous decision from all of us!”
Malfoy was once again surprised by the adventurers’ keen sense of duty; his eyes even felt a bit misty.
“Thank you all. If we can survive this fight…”
“Ha-ha, no need to say more! If we all survive this, just treat us to a drink!” Hex casually slung his arm around Malfoy’s shoulders, grinning away.
Roy opened his mouth but ended up smiling bitterly.
Originally, the relationship between the adventurers and the Mage Association was pretty lukewarm, but it turned out the appearance of the Demon Race had actually united them.
Especially since the adventurers had prepared themselves. If he tried to convince them to retreat, it would undermine their resolve.
From a rational standpoint, the more combat power the better.
However, Roy also didn’t plan to just leave these people to become cannon fodder for the sake of following the wrong timeline.
Seeing these three getting more and more fired up, practically itching to roll up their sleeves and fight the demons, Roy interrupted them.
“Wait, if we’re going to fight, we need to win.”
“I’m sticking around for victory, not for death.”
Malfoy’s eyes lit up, but he also looked doubtful: “Sword Demon, do you have a plan?”
In such a massive power disparity, how on earth could they turn the tide? Besides, adventurers typically don’t lead armies!
“Of course.”
“If we clash head-on, we have no chance of winning. There’s no room for retreat now. So our only option is… decapitation.”
As soon as he said that, the three widened their eyes, rendered speechless.
In battles among extraordinary beings, decapitation isn’t a rare tactic. Defeating the opposing side’s high-end combat power severely impacts their morale and can shift the balance of power.
Especially since aside from Diabolus, there are no mid-sequence extraordinary beings on the enemy side. If they could take him down, their mid-sequence would be unstoppable.
However, Diabolus is a Sequence 5 great demon, having crushed three Sequence 6 powerhouses single-handedly.
Saying decapitation was more like a death wish.
But just as Roy said.
This was the only choice.
Sequence 5 is known for facing thousands alone, and if it comes to a fight, it would be utterly devastating for regular troops.
If there’s no one to hold back Diabolus, a few of his Shadow Balls would be enough to obliterate them.
With that in mind, Malfoy raised his head, looking heroic: “In that case, let me…”
“No, I’ll go with Leanna.” Roy chuckled lightly, exuding an aura of undeniable confidence: “I have a strategy.”
