Chapter 390
Chapter 96: Good Night
Staring at her dazed reflection in the boy’s pitch-black eyes, Leanna couldn’t help but feel a bit disoriented.
It was the first time someone affirmed everything she did rather than spitting disdain or mockery, fear or suspicion.
Leanna had long gotten used to silently bearing the burden of being associated with Black Magic, being a witch, and masking her true feelings with a playful smile and cruel methods.
But today, she didn’t want to do that anymore.
Warm, heated thoughts swirled in her mind, and the boy’s figure seemed somewhat ethereal.
Maybe this was just the illusion brought on by alcohol, maybe the boy before her didn’t mean it sincerely, but even so, Leanna didn’t want to miss this moment, a feeling of no longer being lonely.
“Are you serious? I’m thinking of using you, you know, you bad woman.” Leanna giggled, covering her mouth, but her wavering gaze had lost its usual playful essence.
“How dare you say that?” Roy murmured, nonplussed, but then chuckled lightly, “But even so, you didn’t leave me behind during the auction, did you?”
Roy shook his empty wine glass, teasing, “Though you’re a bad woman, as a senior, you’re still pretty nice.”
Leanna’s cheeks flushed. She was really glad she had drunk, or the boy would have seen through her.
“Junior, you really dare to say that.”
“Just speaking the truth.” Roy suddenly felt his words were a bit ambiguous and looked away, adding, “I just don’t want to see you sulking.”
However, those words made Leanna’s heart tremble again.
In the dim light, the brown-haired girl’s mouth tugged into a charming curve: “You know what happens when you say things like that to a girl?”
“What happens…?!”
The boy’s words came to an abrupt halt, his pupils slightly shrinking, his breath stalling in panic.
Because Leanna had already answered with her actions.
Her delicate figure, like the west wind brushing through willows, dashed directly in front of him.
With no retreat behind him, Roy could only watch as Leanna braced herself against the sofa edge, her body leaning over him.
Her curled brown hair cascaded down, no longer smelling of the usual coffee but rather a mix of bellflower and sweet fruits, giving off an intoxicating aroma like the colorful drinks around.
Roy froze.
Half of what he had just said came from the heart. He truly didn’t want to see that proper, elegant girl, charming and affectionate, turn all gloomy.
But the other half was that he didn’t want to be pinned down by a drunken Leanna!
But what was going on now?
At that moment, Leanna’s face was flushed, her sweet intoxicated breaths wafting softly, her beautifully shaped chest subtly rising and falling.
And in those purple, glistening eyes, there was an unprecedented foggy sentiment.
“Senior, wait…!”
As the girl’s lips parted and leaned towards him, Roy was startled into almost shouting.
What to do when a drunken senior suddenly comes on to you? Online help needed, urgent!
However, unexpectedly, the snake-like beauty didn’t show her fangs but instead collapsed weakly into his embrace, letting out a whimper.
“Junior… there are two…”
So she was just drunk?!
Somehow a bit cute…
With the crisis averted, Roy let out a sigh of relief but found himself bemused by the girl slumped in his arms.
Looks like there was no way for him to bring her back to the Academy.
Carrying a totally plastered senior wouldn’t get past the gatekeeper, and besides, it would definitely become big news in the next day’s headlines.
Thinking of this, Roy had to lift Leanna’s arm: “Senior, let me take you upstairs.”
This fancy bar had rooms available.
But when he checked in, the front desk servant shot him a look that seemed to say he was a scumbag trying to get a good girl drunk, which was super awkward.
Strangely enough, even in a drunken state, Leanna managed to walk quite steadily, so Roy didn’t expend much effort getting her to the room.
After finally laying Leanna down on the bed, he could finally breathe easy.
“You should rest early, I’ll head back now.”
Just as Roy was about to turn around, a hand suddenly tugged tightly at his clothes.
Looking back, he saw the girl’s long messy hair obscuring her dazed eyes, gazing at him with a sultry look: “Don’t go…”
Roy thought he must have misheard: “Senior?”
“Don’t go, stay with me tonight.”
Leanna seemed slightly more awake but not much. Otherwise, her face wouldn’t still be flushed, nor would she say such tantalizing things.
Noticing the boy’s awkwardness, Leanna tightened her grip and explained, “I know what you’re worried about, so I won’t do anything to put you in a difficult position. I just want you to stay with me…”
“Just this one night, okay?”
The purple of her eyes was filled with moonlight, as if it could spill out any second.
Looking at the usually playful witch showing such fragile eyes, Roy’s heart clenched tightly.
After a moment, he sighed slowly: “Just this one night.”
“And if you dare to get handsy, I’m leaving immediately.”
A smile finally reappeared on Leanna’s face: “Okay then.”
“I won’t do anything. But if you want to do something to me…”
Roy ignored her words and flopped down to sleep.
Not long later, the sounds of dressing and almost imperceptible footsteps padded on the plush carpet filled the air, followed by the sound of water flowing and soft, indulgent sighs.
Until last, Leanna returned to bed.
“Good night.”
After a light greeting, silence fell over the room, leaving only the girl beside him breathing softly like a mosquito’s buzz.
Several minutes later, Roy hesitantly opened his eyes.
This girl really didn’t do anything at all.
Thank goodness, it seemed she wouldn’t go all wild like in the original story.
As far as he remembered, whether in the original or in Veszyra, Roy had never seen Leanna sleep before.
Now seeing her looking serene, as calm as a still lake, her hair scattered like a sleeping beauty from a fairy tale, he felt a mix of fresh fascination and a twinge of heartache.
Because that originally flawless and tranquil face had a glistening tear rolling down like moonlight.
In the original story, when Alice asked why she loved coffee, Leanna laughed and said she disliked going to sleep early.
Now that he thought about it, that could have just been an excuse. Tormented by past nightmares and the side effects of her bloodline, Leanna must have rarely had the chance to sleep peacefully like this.
Roy reached out and gently wiped the tear from the corner of the girl’s eye.
There was something he hadn’t said yet.
“Good night.”
After a moment longer, as Roy’s breathing gradually steadied, the sleeping beauty slowly opened her eyes.
