Chapter 377
Chapter 83: The Golden Serpent
“Joking around like it’s a walk in the park, but taking a glance at the blood-stained, tattered robes of the young boy made Leanna’s eyes flicker slightly.”
While dealing with the guardian of the treasure, she felt the overwhelming extraordinary energy outside and now, seeing it firsthand, realized that Roy had gone through a battle far beyond what she had imagined.
“You’ve worked hard.”
“Leave it to me from here; you take the item and go first.”
Leanna tossed the “Tear of the Mermaid” to him, then turned to face the pale knight, a cunning shadow forming, morphing into a snake shape, revealing fangs.
“Leave first? Do you have a plan?” Roy furrowed his brows.
“Oh come on, are you worried about me?”
“If you can really handle that thing, why not just take care of it? Why make me leave first?” At this point, Roy himself was slightly taken aback, looking at the alluring figure in front of him, feelings growing complex.
What answered him was a somewhat bitter sigh.
“This is the only way.”
“I brought you into this mess, and now that you have what you wanted, our collaboration is over. Just like you said, we owe each other nothing.”
Nonsense.
If you owe nothing, you could easily slip away using your stealth abilities.
Roy found it amusing, but warmth surged in his heart.
“That’s right, we don’t owe each other anything.”
“Right? So you hurry up—”
“But that cultist still owes me something. If they come looking for trouble, it’s not my style to not retaliate.” Roy paused, teasing, “Besides, it wouldn’t be gentlemanly to leave a lady all alone here, would it?”
Leanna was taken aback, a mix of resignation and faint appreciation crossed her face.
“And I have a plan.”
“Huh?”
“But I need your power.”
Roy extended his palm to Leanna: “Do you trust me?”
This was the first time he proactively reached out to her. Looking at the blood-stained hand, after a moment of surprise, Leanna hesitated, then gently placed her soft hand in his, careful not to hurt him.
Their palms overlapped, fingers entwined, and a mysterious rhythm spread out, making their heartbeats, breaths, and even blood pulsing interweave, indistinguishable.
Sensing the sudden surge of energy from each other, the once wary “Undead Knight” felt a heart-stopping moment, as if facing a great enemy.
“What are you waiting for? Hurry and kill them!” Ivan urged anxiously, feeling a crisis.
Did the “Undead Knight” not realize this?
Yet just as he gripped his sword and pushed his stiff body to act, he found himself instinctively taking a step back.
Afraid?
Afraid of a mere mortal?!
Unable to accept this, the “Undead Knight” let out a roar, pulling together his bloodline, flames of pale white igniting on his sword, the cold aura returning to the world, making the entire auction house feel like an ice cavern.
However, this awe-inspiring pressure seemed so trivial before the young boy and girl.
The earth rumbled, the world shook.
Then, the ground caved in, and from the depths emerged a massive shadow radiating dazzling golden light, extending nearly to cover the entire auction house.
The colossal figure looked like a moving mountain, its brilliant golden scales seeming to embed countless treasures.
When the giant serpent’s shadow cast a slow glance, the “Undead Knight” finally understood the source of his terror.
This instinctive dread rooted in his bloodline, he had only felt it once before.
“The Demon King.”
That woman exuded the aura of the king of the Demon Race!
Even Leanna herself was startled by this power, glancing again at Roy: “I didn’t expect you had such strength.”
“No, this is your strength,” Roy smiled slightly, “I just helped you activate it ahead of time.”
Leanna’s bloodline, called “Black Magic: Serpent,” allows her to control all serpent-like magical creatures.
But Roy knew that her bloodline was far more complex than that. At Sequence 6, Leanna’s powers would undergo a transformation, ascending to “Black Magic: Golden Serpent.”
That was undoubtedly a golden-grade bloodline, possessing authority over the earth, “Earth Core Gold Scales,” as hard as dragon scales and serving as both the strongest spear and shield, capable of manipulating golden-red molten lava.
Most importantly, the Golden Serpent once stood as one of the Four Demon Kings, second only to the Demon King, inherently suppressing the Demon Race!
“Indeed, I can feel it—you’re inside of me now.”
Leanna revealed a look of intoxication, making Roy’s face blush, forcing him to remind her, “Time to wrap this up.”
Leanna redirected her gaze to the “Undead Knight,” but this time, her purple eyes held no sense of trepidation, nor did they carry former cruelty, only pure killing intent.
Anyone who dares to harm him shall pay with their life.
The witch raised her delicate hand, and the golden serpent shadow surged wildly, shaking the world as if even the heavens trembled, causing everyone except the young couple to collapse to the ground like ants quaking in the presence of divinity.
Only the Sequence 6 “Undead Knight” shouted, brandishing his sword valiantly, warrior-like.
However, that strike comparable to dragon flames still couldn’t halt the serpent’s advance by even a fraction.
The sharp slash was blocked by the serpent scales, and in an instant, the pale figure was engulfed by the serpent shadow, vaporized in the rolling golden-red magma without surprise.
Such a terrifying injury was beyond Ivan’s life force to endure; as the “Undead Knight” perished, Ivan was instantly drained of his life force, turning into a desiccated corpse.
In the final second before consciousness faded, facing the towering golden serpent, Ivan’s faith suffered a massive quake, unable to resist kneeling, soon swallowed by the surging earth and vanished without a trace.
Like crawling ants, he failed to stir even the slightest interest from the Golden Serpent.
Until the battle concluded, everyone on the platform remained immersed in the shocking sight of the serpent that seemed to swallow the sky, unable to snap back to reality for quite a while.
“Wait, shouldn’t we run first…?”
Someone finally gasped this out, and as everyone looked up, they noticed the dire situation.
The auction site was built underground.
The ceiling had already reached its breaking point due to the massive combat aftermath, so the outcome was evident.
In a panic, everyone attempted to flee, but the ceiling reached its limit first, countless debris and dirt surged like a tide, turning every face pale with fear.
Barely surviving the cultists, getting buried alive was way too cruel.
Fortunately, in a critical moment, with a flick of the serpent’s tail, a burst of golden light erupted, turning into a protective shield and saving their lives.
Moments later, the earth finally regained serenity, revealing a slightly blinding light.
Amidst the swirling dust, people coughed incessantly, looking awkwardly at the long-lost blue sky and white clouds, joy radiating from their narrow escape.
As for Roy and Leanna, they were shielded by the coiled serpent shadow, untouched by even a speck of dust.
