Chapter 285
Chapter 138: Old Man, You Pushed Me!
“Old man, you pushed me!”
Roy cursed inwardly and couldn’t be bothered to dwell on Booker’s trickery any longer.
Because two stunning young girls had gracefully arrived.
Roy reflexively plastered on a polite smile, his gaze filled with admiration. “You both look fantastic today.”
Charlotte maintained her composure, nonchalantly humming as if indifferent, though the corners of her mouth were slightly upturned.
“It’s okay, I guess.” Charlotte glanced at Roy, a hint of disappointment lacing her words. “Why didn’t you wear a formal suit?”
Before Roy could reply, the elven girl next to him smiled sweetly at Roy. “It doesn’t matter! School uniforms look pretty cool too!”
“Yeah, it’s often said that people are judged by their attire, but I think Roy looks good in anything he wears!”
That straight shot caught the boy off guard, and his gaze naturally fell upon the elven girl.
Charlotte’s eye twitched slightly, nearly bursting into flames at the top of her head.
With this green tea causing trouble, she couldn’t hold back any longer; she had to take the initiative!
“Roy, what do you think of this formal dress?”
“Didn’t you say it’s beautiful?”
“Just beautiful?” Charlotte pouted, twirling a strand of hair, sneaking a shy glance his way.
A faint blush crept onto her porcelain-white cheeks.
She emphasized bashfully, “This dress was specially chosen for you by me!”
Her slightly petulant tone scratched at Roy’s heart, like a curious cat.
Roy looked her up and down, even a bit audaciously assessing the girl’s new outfit.
The delicate and elegant dress showcased her petite frame, making her look like a gorgeous rose. The pure black knee-high socks beneath accentuated her well-proportioned legs, turning them into a masterpiece.
Such unguarded scrutiny made Charlotte’s cheeks flush even more. Normally, she would have huffed and retaliated with a playful punch, but now, she forced herself to endure the embarrassment and pretended to be confident while asking, “Do you like it?”
Considering Nia was right there, Roy ultimately held back his urge to praise her, merely nodding slightly.
Even that was enough to make Charlotte feel smug.
The princess cast a cold glance at Nia, implying, “Indeed, slim dresses look better, unlike someone who shows too much skin and ends up looking more bloated.”
“Hehehe, Your Highness has a real sense of humor.” Nia’s mouth twitched.
“However, I actually think showing more is better, unlike someone who claims to be delicate but has nothing to show, looking all flash and no substance!”
“Roy, you think the same, right?”
As she spoke, Nia leaned towards Roy, playfully winking.
The plump, snow-white curves were almost on display.
Roy, holding to principles of fairness, didn’t answer this provocative question, but his eyes were already saying it all.
Charlotte nearly blew her lid.
“I say, are all you elven descendants so clueless about the atmosphere? Could you not interrupt me and my knight?”
“Interrupt? Your Highness, are you mistaken? We were having a delightful chat with Roy, and you barged in to ‘insert’ yourself.”
The pair’s gazes clashed fiercely in the air as neither was willing to back down.
Both young ladies were already the center of attention; now, as they gathered around Roy, shifting from laughter to fierce glares naturally sparked whispers among the crowd.
This made Roy’s mood grow heavy.
He didn’t mind what was said about him, but he didn’t want the two ladies to be dragged into gossip and become a laughing stock.
The princess, shedding her previous shy demeanor, glared hard, stating firmly, “Nia Molly, you’d better step away from my knight!”
Nia shot back with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, raising an eyebrow. “What if I don’t? What are you going to do about it?”
As she spoke, Nia wrapped her arm around Roy’s, her ample curves nearly brushing against him.
Charlotte, almost furious enough to cough up blood, hurriedly grasped Roy’s other arm.
Roy sighed heavily. “I say…”
“Let go of me!”
“You let go first!”
Seeing that the two were about to pull a public display of childishness, Roy finally couldn’t stand by any longer.
He yanked his arms back with force, stepping away to create some distance between them.
This action left both girls momentarily stunned.
“I say, ladies, do you really want to make a scene in front of so many people?”
At his words, Charlotte and Nia snapped back to reality. This wasn’t an unmanned embassy, but rather an event surrounded by students, teachers, and key figures from all factions!
Realizing this, Charlotte bit her lip, her face already flushed, while Nia chuckled awkwardly, her ears turning red.
“Besides, I already sent a letter, didn’t I? Remember your identities and temper your tempers!”
With Roy’s complaint, both remained silent.
However, thinking about that letter, their anger dissipated significantly, replaced by a sense of superiority, and when they glanced at each other, only mockery and pity remained.
Alright, for Roy’s sake, they wouldn’t hold this against that guy for now.
This green tea/busty girl has no idea that Roy already chose me, right? *2
Seeing the two quiet down a bit, and the surrounding crowd losing interest as the atmosphere stabilized, Roy finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Even if they were to bicker, he hoped they wouldn’t cause an embarrassing scene in public.
If that happened, he truly couldn’t forgive himself.
As time passed, the award ceremony officially began.
Headmaster Booker took to the stage personally to deliver a speech, reminiscing about the unfortunate victims, condemning the ruthless cultists, and praising those brave young people who stood up against the cult.
One couldn’t deny that the old man’s speech was quite captivating; even though Roy already knew the contents, he still found himself engrossed, mourning for the fallen and fuming against the cultists, feeling fortunate for having done the right thing.
“This blue trial was undoubtedly a tragedy, a disaster, but just like how the light shines brighter when darkness descends, as you all know, there were four brave young people who did not succumb to the fallen cultists…”
The award ceremony was nearing.
Roy took a deep breath, preparing to step onto the stage when he froze at a particular sentence.
“Roy, shall we go up together to receive the award?”
Looking at the elven girl smiling sweetly and extending her fair wrist towards him, Roy was momentarily taken aback.
As expected, Charlotte immediately intervened. “Wait a minute! As my knight, you should come with me, right?”
“Roy is your knight, but during this trial, I faced All Things Wither alongside her, whereas someone here was not even present, right?”
“You…! What nonsense, Roy is a person of the Lionheart Kingdom, and you, as a foreigner, shouldn’t be getting all chummy!”
This time, neither was willing to give an inch.
The award ceremony was the highlight of this semester’s banquet and the biggest focal point.
Being able to go together as a partner at that moment would undoubtedly be a declaration to the entire academy that she was the best partner in life and death with Roy!
And that sole spot was definitely not up for grabs by another woman!
Seeing the two about to launch into another round of disputes, Roy decisively broke his silence again, “Don’t forget my letter! What did I say? You’re not enemies!”
Surprisingly, this time, both girls didn’t quiet down; instead, their gazes grew even more heated.
“That’s right; she’s not even worthy of being my enemy!” *2
“???”
