Chapter 221
Chapter 74: The Fall of the Bloodstone
No matter how terrified or unwilling they were, they simply couldn’t resist and fell straight down.
As the thieves were being suppressed by two Sequence 8 powerhouses, the adventurers charged in, practically chasing after the fleeing thieves.
“Kill these mongrels!”
An adventure with a big sword took the lead, chasing after those escaping thieves.
But at that moment, a disgruntled click of the tongue rang out from the center of the battle.
Out of nowhere, a tall and skinny figure with his hands in his pockets appeared right in front of the thieves.
At the sight of him, the thieves immediately stopped running.
Reid instinctively sensed something was wrong and was about to shout a warning, but before he could even open his mouth, a sharp glint of a blade flashed.
The adventurer brandishing the big sword, who had rushed forward, was instantly decapitated with a single slash!
Unlike thieves who banded together for profit, the adventurers were brothers who fought and lived together every day. This scene ignited fury and bloodlust among all the adventurers.
Two more rushed in, wielding a longsword and a battle axe, shouting as they attempted to flank and avenge their fallen brother, but Reid shouted at them, freezing them in their tracks.
“Idiots! Don’t go over there!”
“Hmph.”
With a sneer, the tall skinny man had already appeared in front of the duo.
Fortunately, at that moment, the dazzling lightning spear had also arrived.
Reid exploded with power, sending the two brothers flying away and charging alone at the looming figure.
But that man was incredibly fast, dodging back with a quick step, as a dagger rushed in like a black wind.
To be honest, Reid couldn’t even see his movements; he merely relied on years of combat experience, sensing a chill and darting backward. Even so, a deep gash was ripped across his chest.
Letting out a roar of pain, Reid swung the spear wildly, trying to increase his attack range to hit the opponent.
His lightning spear transformed into a long whip, shining brilliantly for a moment, unleashing a thunderous explosion that sent several nearby thieves flying.
Yet this strike still missed.
The tall man, with astonishing flexibility and reflexes, leaned back just in time to avoid the attack, then sprang up, delivering a powerful kick that sent Reid soaring through the air.
That hit nearly knocked Reid out cold.
As he landed, seeing the enemy closing in, Reid mustered the last of his strength and thrust forward with all his might.
In the darkness, thunder erupted.
The 【Lightning Spear】 was a bloodline passed down from the Lightning Knight beast, flowing not with blood, but pure lightning. Its full-powered attack was comparable to true thunder.
With all he had, Reid’s stab was no less than that of a true 【Lightning Knight】!
The tall man’s pupils slightly dilated, and for the first time, he looked serious as shadows at his feet surged, abruptly slipping to the side.
The lightning spear pierced through the bodies of several thieves, the violent lightning exploding behind him, collapsing a well-preserved stone wall to the ground.
The tall man finally retreated, but remained completely unscathed.
However, Reid, heavily wounded and drained of Extraordinary Power, lay on the ground, barely conscious, as the panicking adventurers hurriedly dragged him away.
The tall man radiated a crushing aura just by standing there.
The battle’s tide had decisively shifted, with the thieves cheering on their counterattack. After witnessing the man’s power, no adventurer dared to charge out to confront him again, only barely defending themselves in the ruins of the ancient castle.
“Damn it, that aura feels like Sequence 7! Who the hell is that guy?” Nia warned, unable to help herself from asking.
Sequence 7, among the elven guards, is a top-notch expert—how could he possibly be an ordinary thief?!
One adventurer, pale-faced, stammered, “That’s…the leader of a notorious thief group, one of the Academy City’s seven most wanted criminals, Black Claw Andy!”
This revelation made every adventurer present gasp in shock, even Nia couldn’t help but be dumbfounded.
The Academy City, as the center of Veszyra, nurtured a prosperous and diverse side, but it also became the breeding ground for darkness from all over Veszyra.
Nia had heard rumors of many fugitives wanted across the lands, the most dangerous among them being the seven wanted criminals who control the seven underground forces.
Black Claw Andy, renowned for his infamous band of thieves, was one of those seven!
For such a powerhouse, strength could no longer simply be measured by their Sequence.
“If even Brother Reid isn’t his match, we’re doomed!”
A pessimistic atmosphere hung over everyone.
While the difference between Sequence 8 and Sequence 7 might not seem vast, Andy’s power far exceeded their imagination; he had heavily injured Reid in just three moves, leaving them without a chance to help!
Seeing this, Nia suddenly felt a sense of foreboding.
Losing the last shred of fighting spirit would only hasten their defeat!
She hurriedly forced a smile to reassure everyone, “But we still have Lord Sword Demon, right?”
The group’s spirits briefly lifted but quickly dimmed again.
Black Claw Andy had already defeated four A-Rank adventurers and even successfully assassinated a Sequence 6 noble!
If it came to a real fight, the Sword Demon would probably just add another victory to Andy’s record.
But no one dared to throw around dark humor.
Now, at this critical moment, adventurers could only force themselves to cling to this faint hope, keeping their fighting spirit flickering like a candle in the wind.
“Cough, cough, why…why would someone like you be here…”
Reid glared at the figure in the distance, feeling both unwilling and fearful, full of confusion.
“Why? What, only you adventurers can hunt for treasure? We thieves can’t get in on the action?” Andy mocked.
“Hunt for treasure? What the hell are you talking about?! There’s no goddamn treasure here?!” Reid almost spewed blood.
Andy raised an eyebrow at this.
Could it be they weren’t here for the Blood Clan treasure? Were they not under the Sword Demon’s command?
Just then, Andy’s pocket began stirring.
He pulled out a gruesome-looking fruit, which opened its eyes, scanning the crowd before concluding.
“That adventurer has no Blood Clan aura.”
“Seems like he doesn’t know anything.” Andy frowned slightly.
If these guys were treated as pawns by the Sword Demon, that would be terrible.
But the next second, the fruit’s gaze locked onto Nia.
At the same time, Nia felt a chilling stiffness sweep through her, her mind inexplicably tinged with deep sorrow and anger.
The fruit paused for a moment, then its gooey mouth split open in excitement.
“Unexpected, unexpected! Could it be this is fate? To seek the Blood Clan treasure and meet a descendant of the Violet Bloom…”
Andy interjected impatiently, “Speak plainly.”
“Her aura carries traces of the Blood Clan treasure! She must know where it is!”
Upon hearing this, Andy’s eyes locked onto Nia with an intensity she could not ignore.
