Chapter 166
Chapter 19: I’m Not Targeting Anyone
“Fellow students, let us join hands and embark on our journey at the Academy of Magic, inheriting the will of our predecessors and creating new legends…”
Charlotte’s speech was passionate, full of a sense of responsibility and mission as if she were tasked with upholding the legacy of the heroes of the Third Era.
Unfortunately, most of the new students below were just staring at her face.
After all, times have changed.
The theme of the current era is peace and development, and there’s not as much pressure. Instead of striving hard, most newcomers were just thinking about how to enjoy this precious youth.
To enjoy youth, one must have beautiful encounters, and among the newcomers, the most worth encountering was undoubtedly this princess up on stage.
After the opening ceremony, quite a few people made their move, gathering around Charlotte, trying to get close.
But before that, the noble youths from the Lionheart Kingdom formed a wall with their followers, blocking them all out.
As nobles of the Lionheart Kingdom, they had some experience with such matters.
This sparked dissatisfaction among the other newcomers.
“Hey, we’re all classmates, isn’t this a bit much?”
“Yeah, we just want to get to know Princess Reinhardt!”
Students at the Academy of Magic never care about origins or social status. Only here can a princess be blocked by a crowd of students.
Just like commoners can’t understand the aloof actions of nobles, nobles also can’t tolerate a bunch of ‘commoners’ being rude.
Not sure which noble muttered, “A bunch of filthy peasants!”
“What did you say?!”
The already annoyed commoners flared up, and the martial nobles were not about to back down.
Both sides faced off at the auditorium entrance, causing quite a commotion.
Teachers and older students watched this scene with interest, and no one stopped it.
This kind of thing happens every year, so it’s not surprising.
But just as the tension was rising, a commanding voice suddenly halted all actions from the nobles.
“Enough.”
The nobles dispersed, creating a path, and the blushing princess finally appeared.
“Nobles are not superior to commoners. I don’t care how things were done before, but here at this academy, we are all equals as classmates.” Charlotte cast a discreet glare at the noble who spoke disrespectfully earlier, but she didn’t call him out, causing him to lower his head in shame.
Then, she turned to the crowd of admirers, “As a compatriot of the Lionheart, I apologize on his behalf.”
I have to say, Charlotte’s move definitely won her some popularity.
Not just the newcomers passing by, but even the teachers looked at her in a new light.
As for the admirers trying to hit on her? Well, they were over the moon.
They initially thought a princess would be proud and ignore them, but unexpectedly, she was so understanding and graceful.
Thus, their confidence grew.
“Your Highness, my name is Vasily, may I invite you…”
“Not interested.”
Charlotte suddenly put on a stern face, leaving everyone caught off guard.
But the nobles just looked on with amusement.
Silly kids, that was for your own good.
Another young man saw an opening and cheerfully approached, “Not interested is fine, at least we can get to know each other, I am…”
Charlotte sighed in annoyance, her pretty brows clearly furrowing.
“Let me be direct.”
Charlotte raised her head, her contemptuous gaze sweeping over the crowd as if looking at a bunch of boring fish.
Being looked down upon should have angered them, but the blazing intensity in Charlotte’s eyes exuded an overwhelming pressure, making it hard for them to lift their heads.
“I don’t want to have dinner with you, nor do I want to get to know you. I am not the least bit interested in you!”
“As students of the Academy of Magic, we should be focused on our studies, honing ourselves and achieving greatness. And what do you make your first move on the first day? Acting like clowns trying to show off? Why should I waste my time on you? Don’t make me laugh!”
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not targeting commoners; I just have no interest in you as a woman!”
The disguised noble among the commoners who initially felt good about himself was smacked with her last sentence.
“Just get lost if you have nothing else!”
The crowd dispersed like a tide.
Only after watching the princess leave did the shouts from the crowd come trickling in.
However, some people looked pleasantly entranced, as if they would love to be scolded again.
Whether it was joy or disdain, the princess’s haughty and powerful demeanor left a deep impression on everyone like a blaze.
But after leaving the auditorium, Charlotte looked around somewhat flustered, finding no trace of the black-haired boy she was so eager to see, making her stomp her foot in frustration, losing her earlier elegance.
It was all those damn lower-class men’s fault for making her waste time!
Otherwise, she should be exploring the academy with Roy right now!
And why can’t that guy wait for her?!
Charlotte sighed, pouting and manifesting deep resentment on her face.
Meanwhile, Nia, unable to find that golden-haired figure, was also a bit disappointed.
“Ugh, where did that adorable little blonde go?!” Nia cried, clutching her head like a heartbroken puppy.
The new friends she had just made were all amused by her exaggerated display.
“Everyone is talking about boys, but why is Nia fixated on a girl?”
“Ah, Nia, you aren’t…”
Nia’s expression changed in an instant, revealing a scheming grin, “Hehe, that’s right! I’m all about those sweet, soft girls! Once you’re with me, you can’t escape!”
The elven girl伸出手, making mischief with her new girlfriends, her flamboyant style catching the eyes of passing male students.
Nia made friends just to have a good time, and anyway, she could chat with anyone. Just like now, she blended into the circle of girls within half a morning.
Of course, Nia didn’t genuinely want to date any of the girls.
Her one principle for friendship was simply being fun.
A stunning blonde girl, a top-tier friend from the Holy Light lineage, could there be anyone more interesting than that?
After some playful teasing, the girls united and began to retaliate against Nia, tickling her until she begged for mercy.
“But really, have you not looked at any boys?”
“Yeah, there are so many handsome guys at our academy!”
“For instance, that Roy Ainbrad~!”
One girl said, revealing an infatuated expression.
But Nia’s countenance turned strange.
These new friends were all adventurers from the South and didn’t know the noble gossip of the Lionheart Kingdom, but Nia, as the daughter of the presiding arbiter, had heard plenty about the infamous “Rogue Roy.”
But she couldn’t reveal the truth.
The Academy of Magic has eyes from the council, and Nia was here under a false identity. If she were exposed, she could be dragged back and get a good beating!
“No, no, no, you don’t understand. That kind of second-generation noble is all looks and no substance behind the scenes!”
Such a feeble explanation naturally drew laughter from the girls.
“Little Nia, you don’t get it! There’s no way a handsome guy could be a bad person!”
Nia’s mouth twitched, about to retort, but the other directly asked, “Just say it! Is he handsome or not?”
Recalling the black-haired boy’s handsome features and elegant demeanor, Nia was momentarily at a loss.
Uh-oh, there’s really no way to refute that!
