Chapter 118

Chapter 115: Reinforcements

Leo was embarrassed and furious, “You never intended to work with me from the start?!”

Brunswick immediately lost his smile and coldly sneered, “Work with me? You think you’re worthy?!”

“Nobility? Prince? Hmph, all humans are inferior, filthy, foolish ants! I am only begrudgingly joining forces with you for the sake of my king! This is your honor!”

“But now, you dare to obstruct my king’s intentions… don’t get too proud, you mere ant!!!”

“The prince’s choice of partners leaves much to be desired.” Roy commented darkly.

Cold sweat dripped from Leo’s forehead, “Damn it! When did they manage to pull this off?! I was so vigilant…”

Roy could only sigh at his words.

The cult’s methods were mysterious and unpredictable, even the strong from the Lionheart King’s generation didn’t dare to be careless. What good was Leo’s so-called vigilance?

From the moment he allied with the Cult, this outcome was already sealed.

Roy suspected that the Cult had a backup plan targeting Leo.

He just never expected Brunswick to easily turn a bunch of knights into ashes!

Perhaps in the original story, Leo also faced the same fate, losing all his subordinates and ending up isolated and helpless.

“Didn’t I tell you to stop working with those cultists? Regretting it now?!” Charlotte sarcastically jabbed.

Leo’s angry expression was almost identical to Charlotte’s and Roy’s, gritting his teeth in frustration, “Is this really the time for that?!”

At this stage, still bickering, only this pair of siblings could pull that off.

Leo discreetly shot a glance at Roy, revealing a hint of plea in his red eyes, similar to Charlotte’s.

Roy was taken aback, understanding his wish.

“Don’t worry, Your Highness, sacrifices for our king are never too many! You siblings carry the blood of the Lionheart family; perfect gifts for the False King! Go, my brethren!”

Transformed by the power of the evil god, the Abyss Dragons and a swarm of Cultists rushed in at Brunswick’s command!

Just as Leo raised his sword to fight back, a loud cry suddenly echoed through the night sky.

It was the familiar roar of the Kingdom’s citizens.

“Seems like our luck isn’t that bad after all.” Roy’s eyes brightened.

The mindless Abyss Dragons instinctively sensed a threat and looked upwards.

In the next moment, countless figures surged down like a hurricane!

The Abyss Dragons barely had time to react before they were ripped to shreds by a dozen Tempest Gryphons descending from above!

These were the kingdom’s elite, the only unit composed entirely of Extraordinary Beings, the Tempest Knights!

The maid’s dress fluttered in the wind, and the Wind Blade sparkled in the night.

Lisa descended, stabbing an Abyss Dragon with her sword, and landed in front of Charlotte atop its carcass.

Lisa, anxious, exclaimed, “Your Highness! Are you alright?!”

The moment she finished speaking and saw Leo nearby, she swiftly moved to stand defensively in front of Charlotte, brimming with hostility.

“I’m fine! And my brother is temporarily one of the good guys!”

“How did you find us?” Charlotte asked, her tone a mix of surprise and joy, both because of the reinforcements and seeing Lisa safe.

“Thanks to that kid.”

The royal gryphon belonging to Charlotte responded and affectionately nudged her scratched black silk leg.

Despite the might of the Tempest Knights, their numbers were limited, and they quickly found themselves overwhelmed by the Cultists.

Lisa, not wanting to reminisce, urged, “Your Highness, you and Lord Roy should escape on the Cake—we’ll hold them off!”

Charlotte bit her lip in reluctance, but this time, she didn’t push back.

The knights had come to rescue them; the sooner they left, the more help they would be to them.

To everyone’s surprise, Leo surprisingly spoke up, “I’ll stay and help too.”

“Help? You’re being this nice?” Lisa shot Leo an irritated glare, completely distrusting him.

Leo scoffed at the need to defend himself to the guardian, ignoring Lisa’s question, and directly turned to Roy.

In his eyes, there was less hostility and more expectation.

“Kid, protect her well.”

“I’ll do it without you telling me.”

The boy’s seemingly nonchalant yet resolute response took Leo aback.

It turned out the other party had already made preparations.

Leo suddenly realized how reliable this troublesome boy was as an ally.

“Your judgment of men isn’t as bad as I thought.” Leo shot a glance at Charlotte.

The unexpected tease almost made Charlotte fall off her gryphon, “Is this really the time for that?!”

If she weren’t so fixated on the throne, just witnessing these two getting closer wouldn’t be so bad…

Unfortunately, the knights’ shouts interrupted Leo’s thoughts.

Seeing the Cultists breaking through the knights’ lines, Leo suddenly spun around and brandished his sword!

“Go!”

Roy and Charlotte immediately boarded the flying Cake, soaring into the sky.

Looking back at the retreating figures of the boy and girl, Leo couldn’t help but smirk bitterly.

He really did lose completely.

In the end, he accomplished nothing. Instead, he had to rely on the other party to protect his sister.

But if he was with her, Charlotte would surely be fine.

“Don’t think you can get away!!!”

Brunswick was furiously incensed, his claws glistening with weight, slamming one knight and gryphon to the ground, then leaping into the air!

But just as he was about to reach the Cake, a crimson slash resembling a waning moon, brought with it heat and chill, struck him down!

As Brunswick landed, he recognized his assailant and roared furiously, “You dare to obstruct my king’s will!”

“Cut the crap, you damned Cultist!”

Leo swung his sword fiercely, while Brunswick brandished his claws simultaneously!

The blade clashed against dragon claws, unleashing a shockwave that sent both the Cultists and gryphon knights flying.

Leo shouted fiercely, and the sword roared, like the roar of a lion.

With a swing of his sword, Brunswick was hit by a surge of fiery flames, sending him flying, and the surrounding Cultists were engulfed in the blaze.

Though Lisa was quite displeased with this guy who had tried to harm Charlotte, she couldn’t deny that having a Sequence 6 on their side was like adding wings to a tiger!

But once the flames subsided, Lisa couldn’t help but widen her eyes.

Facing a hit from Sequence 6, that Cultist was still alive!

“Hehehe, such weak flames are nothing compared to my king’s gifts!”

Immediately, a fierce flame ignited around Brunswick.

It wasn’t the red flame of the Lionheart, but a more sinister and bizarre flame of sin.

That was dragon fire.

Brunswick’s body melted down under the dragon fire, expanding, his charred bones bursting forth with blood. Then scarlet flames crawled over him, swirling, finally transforming into sharp crimson wings!

The frail old man instantly turned into a monster over three meters tall, covered in jagged dragon scales!

“Ah, ah, I must thank you, Your Highness. If it weren’t for you giving us Ryan Raymond, as a mere mortal I wouldn’t have been able to unleash my king’s gift to this extent.” Brunswick grinned with razor-sharp teeth, his voice low like a cold wind howling through the valleys.

A deep weight shadowed Leo’s face.

“Mere Cultists, I’m so tired of killing you!”

The fiery sword rose once more, but this time, the swift dragon claw struck first!

Blade light and dragon claws intertwined.

Bright red blood rained down in the darkness.
