Soul of the Evil God
At the words of the Black Sun, Sagong Lin thought it was an unexpected proposal, and at the same time a trap.
‘I can’t fathom why that guy suddenly brings up the story of the Old Continent.’
Of course, as a companion of the Reborn Person Baek Woong, she had a rough idea of what the Old Continent was about.
The Old Continent!
It was the Master of the Twelve Joules, Ha Eun-cheon, who first mentioned it, and he once proposed a deal to the past Baek Woong, claiming to know a safe passage to the Old Continent. The Old Continent was known to sorcerers as an ancient land that existed before a significant tectonic shift, although its actual existence was questionable.
However, the subordinate of the Master of the Twelve Joules, Yun Sa, took Baek Woong to the sealed Old Continent and allowed him to meet the Master of the Twelve Joules inside. Sagong Lin recalled Baek Woong’s memories and thought,
‘The Old Continent is said to be in a state of overlapping dimensions due to some terraforming attempts by Ha Eun-cheon. If that’s the case, then it’s basically the base of the Master of the Twelve Joules now. What [the Black Sun] is proposing means….’
It’s like attacking the main headquarters of the Master of the Twelve Joules!
As a companion of the Reborn Person, it’s a golden opportunity, no doubt about it. However, if she readily accepted this proposal, there was a risk of revealing how much she knew about the Old Continent. So, Sagong Lin replied to [the Black Sun] as if she didn’t know anything.
“I don’t really get it. Why come to me with that proposal?”
[I thought you might be able to strike at the Old Continent and eliminate the base behind it. Moreover, the Old Continent is closely related to the Reptilians.]
“Reptilians? Please tell me more.”
[The Reptilians and the forces behind George Washington are increasingly demanding that our empire cease human sacrifices. I thought that couldn’t continue, so I dug into their background and stumbled upon the existence of the Old Continent. The leader of the Reptilians is going there.]
[The Black Sun] knelt on one knee and spoke.
[Great Celestial Mara, do you not wish to become the overlord of this world? If you, who have already defeated the Nazi Empire, conquer the United States as well, unification of the world will be just around the corner. If you become the Overlord, I, [the Black Sun], will become your subordinate!]
“Is that so….”
Sagong Lin didn’t believe [the Black Sun]’s intention to be subservient at all. It was clear that the coalition of the three great powers had cracks, suggesting [the Black Sun] sought to pull in outside forces to incite rebellion. And if [the Black Sun] had come with rebellious intentions, it meant his information was likely true. However, it could also be a plot by the U.S. side using him to lure Sagong Lin into a trap.
‘Well, the logic does seem to make me think…’
After pondering for a while, Sagong Lin said to [the Black Sun].
“I can’t just take your word for it. Bring evidence.”
[What kind of evidence?]
“That’s something you need to figure out. You have to convince me it’s not just an illusion spun by a silver-tongued tongue.”
[Hehe… Of course, I brought something. Look at this.]
Swoosh
[The Black Sun] produced a shiny black stone. Sagong Lin raised an eyebrow at the sight of the stone.
“… Obsidian?”
[Oh, do you have an eye for gems? You recognize it at once.]
“Are you offering me that Obsidian?”
[The Black Sun] shook his head.
[Not at all. This Obsidian is the very essence of our great technology. I inherited memory transmission techniques from the Great Race, and I can convey reports into this Obsidian.]
“……!!”
[Inside it contains information we’ve gathered about the Old Continent and other forces. Receive the memories and find out.]
Could this be true?
Sagong Lin held the Obsidian with skepticism, and soon, light emanated from it, flooding her brain with memories.
Whooosh!!
From a first-person perspective, someone was sneaking around George Washington, observing him from a strange angle. The watching gaze followed a man sneaking out from Washington’s room.
That man was the leader of the Reptilians, distinguished by his well-groomed white male appearance with human skin. His steps trailed off until he suddenly pulled out a peculiar device from his pocket in a deserted area. After pressing a button on the device, he declared,
“Alpha, heading to the Old Continent. Installing Gateway.”
[Understood.]
The device echoed with mechanical sounds.
Whoa!
In an instant, a massive portal to subspace materialized before his eyes. The leader stepped inside, followed closely by the unseen watcher. Eventually, they emerged in a location dominated by colossal cliffs, and within a transparent underwater tunnel, the man walked forward.
[Chaos Infection Control Device Stage 1 Activated. Scanning the subject’s body.]
Wiying –
BAM!!
Just then, as light scanned the man’s body, his vision suddenly clouded in crimson. He then collapsed to the ground with a thud, prompting the man to look down and groan with annoyance.
“How bothersome. Did I just summon a servant? Alpha, pick that up and analyze it.”
[Understood.]
“I wonder if I’m angry for having brought something unnecessary.”
Thud thud
Worries fading, the Reptilian leader disappeared beyond the pathway.
Wiying, Ticking Ticking
Then, from everywhere, saw-like mechanical devices rose and started to dismember the Servant’s body, gradually obscuring its sight.
As the memory ended, Sagong Lin thought to herself.
‘What on earth are the Reptilians doing in the Old Continent? I have no clue….’
While Sagong Lin remained silent, [the Black Sun] spoke.
[The technological prowess of the Reptilians is immense. As time goes on, your empire will inevitably be outmatched by their science. If you’re going to strike, it’s better to do so quickly and eliminate the Old Continent with it.]
Sagong Lin dismissed this idea and retorted.
“Can you teach me this Obsidian’s techniques? If you can, I’ll consider this proposal.”
[…….]
“Why aren’t you answering?”
[That technique is something I alone have inherited and cannot be taught to anyone else! The Great Prophet stated it’s a restriction imposed to prevent the chaos of causality.]
“Hmm.”
It seemed [the Black Sun]’s technique with the Obsidian was undoubtedly the same as Baek Woong’s. Baek Woong had learned the technique, but when memories were conveyed through Obsidian, his companions couldn’t utilize that technique afterward.
‘What to do? Should I give up….’
Yet, Sagong Lin thought it prudent to dig a little deeper, and so she asked,
“Why Obsidian in particular? Does this stone hold some major significance?”
She asked with the desperation of grasping at straws, but [the Black Sun]’s answer was unexpected.
[Yes. Obsidian symbolizes the deity we serve!]
“……?”
Puzzled, Sagong Lin looked at [the Black Sun] as he continued.
[Coincidentally, Obsidian is also exceptionally efficient for memory transmission, but it is also the gem most loved and blessed by our God. Because of that, we conduct all our sorcery and rituals and forge weapons using Obsidian. Furthermore, using Obsidian imbued with the power of the Constellation grants us the most potent blessings during a solar eclipse.]
“…….”
For some reason, this information felt invaluable. Sagong Lin nodded, firmly remembering [the Black Sun]’s words.
“I think I can go with your suggestion. Guide me to the Old Continent.”
[Very well…. Can we consider this a temporary alliance?]
“Let’s form a temporary alliance. Until the Old Continent is destroyed.”
[Then won’t you take the elite forces of the empire with you?]
“I’m enough on my own.”
[Truly, you’re the Celestial Mara….]
Pa-at!
Sagong Lin was transported through the spatial magic circle created by [the Black Sun] to an unknown location. She arrived at the bewildering underwater tunnel that the Servant had scouted just moments ago. As [the Black Sun] walked forward with a sneer, he chuckled.
[Hehehe… I don’t know what this place is, but with me [the Black Sun] and the Celestial Mara together, it’s going to be anything but safe.]
Wiying
[Chaos Infection Control Device Stage 1 Activated. Scanning the subject’s body.]
As beams seemed to detect him, a brilliant light suddenly flashed around [the Black Sun]. He likely received that from the control system’s defenses. Regardless, [the Black Sun] persevered without a care and instead unleashed chaotic magic to engulf the entire space in confusion.
Rumble rumble…!!
BOOM!!
Finally, one segment of the underwater tunnel crumbled. Water surged in, but as [the Black Sun] distorted the laws, the water outside stopped short and couldn’t enter. As [the Black Sun] moved forward, Sagong Lin thought,
‘Indeed, a servant of an Old Ruler. That guy is probably on par with a Demon King.’
While she contemplated this, mechanical sounds echoed from all directions.
Wiying! Wiying! Wiying!
[Chaos Infection Control Device Stage 5 Activated. Critical Red Signal. Equalizer, eliminate the intruder.]
Boom boom
In that moment, from every direction, humanoid machines formed in pure white, crossing their arms. With their glossy white finish and glowing eyes, one of the machines brandished a spear. As ten of these immaculate machines appeared, [the Black Sun] let out a gleeful laugh.
[Hehehe… Celestial Mara, you need not intervene for this trivial matter. They’re just machines after all….]
“That’s what they call the Equalizer. Give it a shot.”
[Hahaha!!]
Whirrrrr!
[The Black Sun] transformed, shedding his human form for a fearsome chaotic monster. His form resembled a bizarre three-headed demon beast with dozens of eyes on its body, flailing tentacles swirling in a whirlpool, trying to engulf the ten Equalizers before him.
Whoooosh!!
Just as [the Black Sun] attempted to absorb the Equalizers with terrifying suction, the foremost pure white Equalizer unfolded its arms, leaped into the air with its spear, and struck [the Black Sun]’s torso with a resounding thud.
BAM
[The Black Sun] was also a demon and a monster, so that kind of strike barely phased him. He shot out tentacles to entrap the Equalizers, but they maneuvered with astounding speed, slicing at his tentacles with their spears.
Swish! Slash!
Sagong Lin watched the Equalizers battle [the Black Sun] with renewed interest.
‘Qi?!’
The energy clinging to the Equalizers’ spears unmistakably bore their spear energy. Moreover, the movements of the Equalizers, although mechanical, exhibited a foundation of martial arts. It was unlike anything she’d seen but unmistakably resembled the techniques of a renowned lineage.
Clang!
[Chaos Spectrum Device Activated. Providing support to the Equalizers.]
Simultaneously, dazzling beams of light erupted from the walls, striking [the Black Sun]. While he didn’t sustain severe damage from the beams, he visibly flinched, as though they caused him sharp discomfort.
[Ooooooh…!! Khaha!!]
Kaboom!!
[The Black Sun] howled as he suddenly expelled hundreds of tentacles, conjuring a storm of chaos. The expansive nature of this attack seemed to obliterate all the Equalizers in a single swoop. It looked like the tides had turned! But then, [the Black Sun] soon returned to human form, groaning in pain.
[Kuhhh… What was that just now… It hurts and doesn’t let up inside….]
“You took quite the hit, haven’t you?”
[Celestial Mara, the obstacles are gone now, so we can proceed deeper!]
Thud
Pushing past the hindrances from the Equalizers, they advanced further in. Upon reaching a large blue partition, an unexpected enemy awaited them.
Unlike the previous human-sized Equalizers, this was a giant one stretching over three meters tall!
Sagong Lin, the Celestial Mara, immediately sensed the danger of this being.
[Hostile chaotic entity confirmed. Risk Level: Maximum. All seals on the ultimate weapon are released.]
“What the….”
Sagong Lin sighed, her eyes glued to the giant before her. She turned to [the Black Sun] and said,
“[The Black Sun], take that one down.”
[Celestial Mara, are you unsure of yourself? What is that thing?]
“I suspect it’s a formidable entity, so don’t let your guard down.”
[Hehehe… Are you saying the Celestial Mara is frightened? Merely a machine like that…?]
Whooooosh –
[The Black Sun] broke into a wild laughter, transforming back into his original form to attack the huge Equalizer blocking the partition.
As the giant Equalizer’s eyes gleamed ominously, it emitted peculiar mechanical sounds.
[Plasma Blaster Maximization.]
BOOM!!
A red beam shot forth from the giant Equalizer’s eye, striking the core of [the Black Sun]. A massive hole, a palm’s diameter, opened up in his torso. Just as [the Black Sun] aimed to heal himself rapidly with his outstanding recovery abilities, the giant Equalizer chirped with mechanical voices.
[Continuous firing.]
BANG!
BANG!
[Ugh… Aaaah!]
In rapid succession, dozens of red beams from the giant Equalizer’s Plasma Blaster tore through [the Black Sun] faster than he could recover. To make matters worse, with a jolt, the partition suddenly opened, revealing a multitude of turret barrels poised to fire.
Pew pew pew!
[Ugh!]
Kaboom!
Boom boom!
While [the Black Sun] screamed in anguish, being constantly battered by beams of light, he shouted,
“How come… how is it that those beams effortlessly penetrate my Chaos Barrier!!”
Indeed.
[The Black Sun] wasn’t just a massively built monster; he always maintained shields and magical barriers with his demonic powers. As such, any ordinary physical attacks didn’t faze him. Yet, strangely, the beams from the giant Equalizer and the turret barrels seemingly had properties that bypassed [the Black Sun]’s defences! Each beam did not seem to inflict significant damage individually, but [the Black Sun] was relentlessly tortured by the experience of being pierced over and over again.
Sagong Lin pondered.
‘I could take it down if I go all out, but the cost would be steep.’
No matter how powerful the defense system before her was, it couldn’t surpass the natural strength of the Celestial Mara. That’s precisely why she was the Celestial Mara. However, Sagong Lin’s strength was specialized against ‘chaos,’ while her opponent was thundering through chaos without a hint of it. Different styles yet perfectly mismatched, so she felt no need to expend her full strength here.
‘But I still ought to take a look at the Old Continent… It would greatly help Baek Woong.’
While musing, Sagong Lin was scanning the battlefield when she suddenly spotted a gap and summoned her powers.
Eternal Dance
Swoosh
As Sagong Lin invoked the Celestial Mara’s power, her body dissolved into thin air. Behind her, she could hear [the Black Sun]’s bewildered voice.
[No… You’re going alone without fighting… how incredibly underhanded….]
Meanwhile, as the giant Equalizer engaged [the Black Sun], she rapidly made her way past the partition. The partition turned out to be much thicker and more robust than she anticipated. She could tell she’d passed through at least a hundred layers, yet she couldn’t progress beyond this partition. It was evident that the technology needed to create walls of such scale was well beyond humanity’s capabilities.
Boom
After a while, she finally crossed to the side of the partition. When she reappeared, she noticed her location was entirely different from where Baek Woong had arrived previously. Instead of that, she found herself in a dark underground, in the ruins of an ancient edifice.
‘The place Baek Woong visited was filled with advanced technology. But this place resembles an ancient ruin from an ancient age… What’s going on?’
Thud thud
Walking amidst the crumbled remains, Sagong Lin soon had a realization.
“This is a completely different place.”
She grasped the truth.
This was a location where dimensions overlapped!
In that earlier location, if she didn’t go by the predetermined method, she would only end up wandering amidst the ruined relics of the ancient continent. What the Master of the Twelve Joules described as ‘overlaid’ was precisely that.
“But there’s no way to do it.”
Controlling dimensions isn’t only the realm of science. As a Celestial Mara, she felt assured that she could effortlessly slip into the headquarters of the Old Continent from this space.
Then it came.
[Oh great being. Great golden divine beast. What brings you to the fallen Atlantis?]
“Who are you?”
Wiying
Moments later, an apparition appeared before her. It had an unfamiliar style of clothing she had never seen, undoubtedly human. With silver hair and red eyes, the specter spoke.
[My name is Oreycalcos. I am the king who governed Atlantis….]
