Chapter 103
Chapter 100: Escape from the Abyss?
Charlotte trembled slightly as she anxiously asked Leo, “Is this true?”
The darkest and most brutal outcome of the royal family has merely been a struggle for the throne.
Yet, for someone like Charlotte, who never cared for the throne, she never imagined she would find herself in such a situation.
Silence spoke volumes.
Charlotte’s feelings for Leo weren’t particularly strong, but they were still siblings.
Just moments ago, Leo had drained the last bits of affection Charlotte had for him.
“Leo, I’m so disappointed in you! How could you have sunk so low?!”
But instead of responding, Leo suddenly laughed.
A chilling, cold, and mad laugh that made Charlotte grasp the chilling truth about him for the first time.
A mocking smile appeared at the corner of the prince’s lips: “You wouldn’t understand.”
“That old bastard treated Leonardo as his right arm and favored you! But left nothing for me! Why should that be?!”
Leo’s furious roar echoed through the forest.
Just as Charlotte had run out of familial affection for him, Leo had reached his limit with her.
The prince dropped all pretenses, his crimson eyes filled with bloodthirsty intent.
“Charlotte, I gave you a chance!”
“You still have some value regarding my throne, so I won’t kill you!”
“But Roy will definitely die today! If you dare to stop me, don’t blame me for cutting off your hands and feet!”
The knights were all Leo’s loyal followers, and now, disregarding Charlotte’s status as a princess, they unsheathed their swords.
“Step back!”
However, at that moment, Charlotte revealed a vibrant red gemstone pendant.
The pendant seemed to freeze flames, radiating a stunningly beautiful glow like a red lotus, but it terrified the knights to the point their faces turned pale, and nobody dared to step forward.
That was the <Flame Blossom>, a high-grade extraordinary artifact prepared by Rob for each member of the Lionheart royal family!
Noble offspring had survival cards to varying degrees. Most of them were for protection or evasion.
But the Lionheart King Rob had a straightforward approach.
The best defense is offense; eliminate the danger, and there’s no danger left!
Unlike most noble offspring’s survival cards, the Lionheart royal family’s <Flame Blossom> was an attack-type extraordinary artifact!
It sealed Rob’s full-power blow, a natural-born warrior among humans, with enough power to alter landscapes!
Once Charlotte unleashed that strike, everyone present would turn to ashes!
But Leo pulled out a similar pendant, and in an instant, both pendants trembled, dimming their lights simultaneously.
“Did you forget? Rob set up insurance for the <Flame Blossom> to prevent us from harming each other.” Leo chuckled.
Charlotte gazed at her dimming pendant, biting her lips tightly.
Only those of royal blood could use the <Flame Blossom>; to prevent siblings from killing each other, it was set so that it couldn’t be used against another holder.
Ironically, this insurance had now become Charlotte’s greatest crisis.
Leo himself was Sequence 6, and with so many knights around, neither she nor Roy stood a chance!
As Charlotte remained engulfed in anxiety, she suddenly felt warmth in her right hand.
She turned slightly to see Roy’s calm face.
Despite the dire situation, the warmth from his firmly grasped hand inexplicably soothed Charlotte.
At that moment, a hooded old man, flanked by cultists, emerged from the shadows of the forest.
“Ha ha… Your Highness, it seems things aren’t going very well for you here.”
Leo glared back angrily: “Why aren’t you stopping the guards? What are you here for?!”
Bluwen smirked deviously and said ominously, “I figured it wouldn’t be convenient for you to act against your dear little sister, so I came specifically to help.”
Feeling uneasy, Leo barked harshly, “Get lost! This is none of your business!”
Their brief quarrel caught Roy’s attention, making him smile slightly.
As expected, the <Cult of the Evil Dragon> and the second prince Leo weren’t truly united!
From the very beginning, Roy knew Leo wasn’t the biggest threat.
According to the trajectory of the “Angel’s Dance,” the second prince’s scheme would undoubtedly end in failure. Instead, the ‘bad boy Roy’ would fall into the hands of the <Cult of the Evil Dragon> and become a cultist.
So Roy had been waiting.
He was waiting for the moment Leo and the <Cult of the Evil Dragon> clashed and became distracted!
As Leo was drawn away by Bluwen, Roy subtly squeezed Charlotte’s delicate hand.
The girl squeezed back harder, signaling she understood.
“Your Highness, we won’t strike at your sister, but Roy is no longer useful to you, right?” Bluwen’s expression gradually turned cold, his eyes narrowing.
Leo finally sensed something was off and asked puzzledly, “Roy? I clearly gave you a sacrifice! Why are you still fixated on Roy?! Explain this to me!”
The cultists extended their claws while the knights raised their long swords.
Just when both sides were about to clash, Roy suddenly blew a whistle.
Charlotte quickly followed suit with her own whistle.
Leo snapped back to his senses, realizing Roy’s intent: “Stop them!”
But the cultists and knights were on high alert, their reactions slow, and were swiftly outpaced by the two speeding figures.
Suddenly, a flash of lightning and a piercing scream!
Golden thunder and crimson fire rained down, and two griffins charged in, knocking down the knights and cultists attempting to pursue them!
Those cultists might be able to stop the extraordinary Lisa, or even two pureblood beastmen, but how could they possibly stop a winged griffin?!
“Not on my watch!”
Leo surged forward, slashing a brilliant fire with his sword aimed directly at Roy.
“Watch out!” Charlotte exclaimed.
Roy, after all, was only Sequence 9; even with <Steel Skin>, how could he withstand a blow from Sequence 6?!
Charlotte tried to shield Roy, but he yanked her into his arms.
Facing the violent flames capable of killing him ten times, Roy swiftly tossed out a pouch of powder he had prepared!
The white-yellow powder scattered in the air, exploding with a thunderous roar the moment it met the flames!
Whether armored knights or dragon-scaled cultists, they were all obliterated into pieces under the terror of the explosion!
The combustible powder, made from ground resin, was the dwarven race’s ammunition!
Raging fire billowed, smoke spread, and the bodies of knights and cultists scattered among the blood.
By the time Leo and Bluwen broke through the smoke and focused their eyes, Roy had already taken Charlotte and mounted the Golden-Winged Griffin!
The griffin, needing no wings, could solidify the air and fly as if it were walking on flat ground.
The Golden-Winged Griffin was as agile as a large cat, quickly scaling the sky!
Leo dared not unleash extraordinary power to trigger another explosion and immediately blew his whistle.
A golden-red griffin shrieked like a blazing fireball, charging towards Roy and Charlotte in the sky, Leo’s mount, <Windchaser>.
But it hadn’t even gotten halfway when <Cake> charged in, crashing into Leo’s mount.
In that instant, the Golden-Winged Griffin’s eyes twitched with excitement.
“Your Majesty! Witness my glory!”
Bluwen bellowed, his terrifying physical prowess allowing him to leap several dozen meters and glide towards them!
Just as Bluwen’s sharp claws neared the Golden-Winged Griffin’s wings, Roy flung his flying sword at him, sending him plummeting.
“Get down!”
“Archers! Damn it, a bunch of useless idiots!”
Irritated by the knights drawing their bows too slowly, Leo snatched a bow and aimed at Roy in mid-air.
With Leo’s Sequence 6 strength, he could certainly take down the Golden-Winged Griffin with a single shot!
However, when he noticed Roy shaking a small pouch of combustibles, his expression changed, and his hand froze, missing his last chance to intercept Roy.
The Golden-Winged Griffin finally soared into the sky, carrying its master as it spread its wings and flew high.
