Chapter 85

Chapter 26: Claw of the Shattered Sky

The inner city of the Forgotten Land is a completely different place compared to the outer city.

Here, the chilling aura of the undead is even more intense, with the ground faintly stained a dark green. The air is thick with toxins accumulated over centuries by high-level undead, carrying a smell that makes one’s brows furrow.

If an average human below the entry level were to come here, even without being attacked by any undead, in just a few hours, they would gradually be transformed into a mindless undead due to the environment.

Of course, this would have no effect on Miss Vilyric and her pets and summoned creatures, but at this moment, they were surrounded by countless enemies.

High-level undead have sharper senses towards the living and move swiftly. It’s only natural that Vilyric and her companions, fighting without concealment, have ended up in such a predicament.

The main issue is that Lucas’s passive skill can’t instantly wipe out these elite mobs of at least level 30, preventing him from triggering a large-scale chain explosion. Though he’s still taking out one little monster per sword strike, the clearing speed has been significantly reduced.

Layer upon layer of undead surround the three of them in the center, launching reckless charges.

There are bulky abominations stitched together from corpses; skeleton generals wearing crowns; wraiths that have possessed the bodies of unfortunate thieves and adventurers; soul-eating bugs lurking underground, ready to strike at any moment. Just from what Vilyric has seen, Lucas has already cut down at least seventeen or eighteen types.

Many of these high-tier undead are not even detailed in the textbooks, and just taking one of them out could cause a massive disaster in the second or third-tier cities of the United Kingdom, potentially leading to a horrifying zombie wave.

Yet here, they’re spilling out in bunches like cabbages from a wholesale market.

In fact, a legendary undead mother bug has already been sliced into dozens of pieces by Lucas’s sword.

Feeling the overwhelming presence of the undead around them, even Miss Vilyric started to get a headache. These creatures don’t seem very smart; even though they die in droves, they show no signs of fear and are just looking to make her life miserable.

“Let’s not waste time with these minions, Xiao Guang.”

“Yes!”

As her pet, the little dragon daughter instantly understood her master’s intention, and feeling a bit eager, she raised her small hand.

The dazzling dragon horns automatically extended, and her big white tail swished against the ground with a *thud*. Xiao Guang’s slender, white fingers transformed into a dragon claw covered in magnificent platinum scales, emanating an aura of heft and sharpness.

Sensing the familiar yet terrifying power behind her, Lucas, the Guardian of Heaven, who was busy cutting down the undead like chopping vegetables, flapped his wings and soared into the sky at the fastest speed, almost teleporting hundreds of meters sideways.

He hadn’t abandoned his duty to protect Vilyric; he simply didn’t want to be sent back to Heaven so early in such a confused manner.

The undead also have their clever ones. Aside from the brazenly charging idiots, the rest sensed the intense danger and began using survival tactics, some flying, some burrowing underground, and others raising shields.

But Xiao Guang paid no mind to these. Once Lucas had successfully reacted at top speed, she gently swung her dragon claw, uttering a cool whisper filled with murderous intent.

“Sky Shatter.”

*Crack… crack crack crack crack crack…*

The sky was truly shattered.

No, it should be said that the space holding everything was torn into pieces by extreme destructive power.

Starting from the little dragon daughter’s claw, the ground, the dead, the air currents, the magical energy—everything along this straight line running through the entire Glorious City ruins turned to fragments.

The ground split open into an unfathomable massive pit, like a chasm, stretching to the farthest point Vilyric could see. The space, supposed to be intangible and formless, shattered like a broken mirror, emitting a piercing wail that exposed the black Void behind it.

Even without considering the land torn in half, the pitch-black broken space, a hundred meters wide and several hundred meters high, immediately transformed into a terrifying vortex, sucking in all the undead unlucky enough to dodge the direct damage, grinding them to dust.

Even Lucas, a level 80 Guardian, had to plunge his massive sword into the ground and take cover far away to avoid the same fate.

Only Vilyric, with her barrier up, and Xiao Guang herself remained utterly unaffected.

The “Claw of the Shattered Sky” is a signature skill named after Xiao Guang’s main weapon, divided into two parts.

The first brings direct damage with the slashing phantom claw that tears through the sky, dealing exceptionally high damage; without a similar level or special defensive skill, one can’t possibly withstand it.

The second part involves the space shattered by the claw, creating an Area of Effect attack. While the damage may not be as terrifying as the first hit, its range is vast, making it effective for finishing off enemies or clearing mobs.

Xiao Guang automatically chose the most suitable skill without Vilyric’s command.

After a full ten seconds, the pitch-black void began to be gradually filled by the world’s restorative powers, and the apocalyptic scene finally disappeared.

The shattered sky returned to its original form, but the enormous, deep crevice in the ground still told the tale of the devastating power that had been unleashed.

The thousands of high-tier undead surrounding Vilyric had completely vanished, leaving only her, and the Guardian of Heaven, Lucas, who was nervously flying back from a distance.

Whether crushed to dust by the claw strike or torn apart by the Void, there’s no doubt that everything resulted from Xiao Guang’s simple swipe.

“Truly worthy of being my master’s guardian dragon; Lady Xiao Guang’s destructive power remains unmatched, far beyond Lucas’s reach.”

Right from the start, the golden-armored warrior offered heartfelt praise to the little dragon daughter, who only reached his abdomen in height. His tone suggested that this wasn’t the first time he witnessed her in action.

“It was just swatting away some pests; no need to make a big fuss about it.”

The little dragon daughter casually brushed off her dragon claws, which had returned to human hands, hiding the dragon traits revealed due to the overflow of power. She wasn’t as cold toward the Guardian, who also served Vilyric, though she wasn’t exactly warm either.

“Do you two seem to know each other?”

“What’s the master saying? Lucas is not new to fighting alongside us, though this guy is a bit soft and fluffy when swinging his sword, he can still serve as a decent meat shield, barely counts as half a comrade.”

The golden-armored warrior awkwardly lowered his head, “Lady Xiao Guang is correct; compared to you and my master, my skills are still lacking and need improvement.”

“I see…”

What they referred to might be those battle experiences from the game.

This was Vilyric’s first time witnessing NPCs from the game interact like real people. While she knew they had become living beings, seeing it with her own eyes was still a bit unbelievable.

But for now, the priority was to keep moving.

There are definitely more undead in the inner city, and while Xiao Guang’s claw was earth-shattering, the undead here are exceedingly chaotic, entirely devoid of any clear intellect; there’s no such thing as ‘fear.’ To avoid trouble, it’s better to venture into the core area sooner than later.

It’s not that consecutive attacks would exhaust them, but the ground here has already taken too much punishment. The little dragon daughter’s claw strikes downwards, so the damage to the land is far worse than what’s happening in the air.

Vilyric really fears that while walking, lava might suddenly erupt from under her feet.

“Alright! Let’s hit the gas and rush to the end in one go!”
