Chapter 797
Chapter 227: Hidden Chess
Seeing Eudora’s adorable, bashful appearance due to such an intimate interaction, the demoness Clisia, who claimed to take Iroen as her surname, seemed unfazed.
She merely retracted her slightly damp tail, patted her pet slave’s shoulder, and the priest girl nodded, appearing somewhat reluctant, before obediently stepping back to stand next to another warrior girl wielding a longsword.
“Did you see that, Eudora? The pet slaves we demon ladies keep as weapons and tools must absolutely obey and can’t act on their own.”
“Your three pet slaves seem to have decent qualifications, but their obedience is lacking. Just now, this one dared to speak without permission… However, they are your property, so I can’t help with their training. You’ll have to work hard on that yourself.”
Saying this, Clisia pondered for a moment.
“Although this city is now under our control, there are still some restless individuals lurking in the shadows. It’s not safe for a little one like you to be wandering outside like this…”
“Considering the gender of your pet slaves, they should all be demonesses with similar preferences. If you don’t mind, how about staying with big sister for a while?”
“This world is quite abundant in resources; I still have some status here, so I can help you find more food to help you grow quickly. I can also teach you how to train your pet slaves to be obedient and utilize some of your innate abilities~”
As she spoke, the demon lady’s deep purple eyes sparkled invitingly. Although she didn’t use any enchanting abilities, her naturally captivating beauty and genuine offer made it hard for most normal people to resist such a charm offensive and would likely have them nodding in agreement.
Unfortunately, Miss Vilyric and that Little Dragon Daughter were of no concern. Eudora, being a demoness herself, naturally possessed a strong resistance to the allure of her kin. As for the only one slightly less resistant, Miss Tilysha, she also returned to clarity after a brief moment of confusion, swiftly keeping silent.
So, when it came to answering this question, Eudora didn’t hesitate at all.
“No, thank you for your kind offer, sister Clisia, but I still plan to explore this world. With my three sisters by my side, I’ll be perfectly safe.”
Clisia seemed taken aback that the little loli would choose to refuse. She glanced at Eudora’s dress, which clearly originated from this world, and nodded thoughtfully.
“Sisters, huh… I see, so you enjoy playing that way. No wonder they seem so disobedient…”
“Well, since Eudora has her own way of living, I won’t force you. Just know that if you encounter any difficulties in this city, you can always come to me for help, sister. I live in that central temple over there.”
Pointing toward the distant outline of a building behind her, Clisia once again smiled gently.
“Take care of yourself, Eudora. We demonesses are naturally prone to being targeted and aren’t good at direct combat. If you find yourself in danger, don’t overthink it for your pet slaves; always prioritize your own life. After all, pet slaves can be replaced, but you only have one life, got it?”
“Um…”
Seeing the little loli shyly lower her head, seemingly noncommittal, Clisia shook her head helplessly but said no more. With a casual wave, she led her two beautiful pet slaves away, quickly disappearing around the corner of the street.
Once they completely left, the Little Dragon Daughter, who had been suppressing her expression, finally frowned and expressed her displeasure.
“How dare such a mere six-tier ant be so rude to you! Master, do you want me to make her disappear completely?”
Patting the Little Dragon Daughter’s shoulder to calm her down, Miss White Fox didn’t bother with her public slip of address. She simply shook her head nonchalantly and continued walking while speaking.
“Come on now, I found Clisia’s attitude to be quite polite. She’s likely riding on Eudora’s coattails and probably noticed our unusual strength.”
“Didn’t you realize? She never used any powers against us, although the excuse was not to interfere with Eudora. This level of restraint seems excessive. I suspect that in the demoness social circles, the strength of pet slaves is viewed as capital for the demonesses themselves.”
With that, Miss White Fox changed her tone slightly.
“And she might have already suspected my identity.”
The others were fine, but the little loli, still not fully understanding Miss Vilyric, was shocked.
“Huh?! Sister Clisia already figured out what Little Fox Sister is? Then are we in great danger now?”
“You two really are on opposite extremes…”
Glancing at the disgruntled Little Dragon Daughter and the worried little demoness, Miss White Fox couldn’t help but make a sarcastic remark while explaining in a volume only the four of them could hear.
“It’s probably just a minor suspicion based on some associations; after all, my outfit is too recognizable. Anyone who understands and follows news about Xī could easily think of this.”
“But you know, Xī is said to be a hero against demons. While it’s still unclear how demons see that, such a strong figure can’t possibly mingle with demons, especially high-tier demons skilled in manipulation.”
“So Clisia at most thinks I resemble the legendary Xī a bit and that we possess considerable strength. She shouldn’t have confirmed anything, or she wouldn’t have left casually like that.”
“I see.”
The little loli sighed in relief, and Miss Tilysha also nodded in contemplation as if suddenly recalling something.
“By the way, that demoness, the surname she introduced herself with…”
“Yeah, she said her surname is Iroen. If she’s not lying, then she can only be a direct descendant of the King of Corrosion Iroen, in other words… like a daughter of the former.”
Miss White Fox tilted her head, gazing at the grand temple outline in the center of the city, once a base for the Church of the Goddess, her tone carrying a hint of mischief.
“That girl seems to hold more than just a little bit of status in this city…”
…
“I found it! Over here!”
Amidst countless old and shabby warehouses, the gray-haired girl, Dark Lotus, exclaimed with a surprised whisper while seriously rummaging around.
Hearing her voice, the other three members of Grim Reaper’s Scythe quickly finished their searches and gathered around, all gazing at the recently uncovered ground beneath a heavy obstruction.
There, a peculiar carving resembling a fox was etched, though it was not distinct due to being filled with dust and having no energy waves. If one didn’t look closely, they wouldn’t have noticed it at all.
The Soul brushed away the dust, meticulously studying the blurry markings for a long while before finally nodding earnestly.
“Right, it’s exactly the same as the God Fox Pendant and the mask that Miss Xī wears. This is where the merchant association left the secret door, so let’s get started! In seven minutes, the patrolling Demon Guardian will pass by here.”
“Okay.”
Everyone nodded and took out brushes and fine needles, beginning to meticulously clear the accumulated dust from within the little fox imprint.
The four worked swiftly, removing all the impurities from the indentation in less than half the time Soul had mentioned.
Then, the Gray-clothed Swordsman carefully retrieved a bottle of light silver potion from a storage item, slowly pouring it over to soak the fox design.
After a few seconds, a nearly invisible door slowly appeared from above.
Confirming that it was functioning normally, the Soul sighed in relief, then covered the fox imprint on the ground with surrounding debris until it looked identical to when they first entered, before nodding to teammates.
They quickly moved away in silence.
