Chapter 706

Chapter 137: Farewell to the Blood Legacy

This was a battle devoid of frills, without any hesitation or doubt, and it had nothing to do with right or wrong.

Although seen as the embodiment of evil and filth, these demons truly had some commendable aspects when it came to fighting spirit.

Lucas, as a level 80 elite Guardian of Heaven, could be classified as a “Demigod” in this world, standing just a divine spark away from true godhood — a super powerhouse.

Beneath the gods, so far, only Miss Estira, the High Priestess of the Kingdom of Azure, and the Gatekeeper Min Chen had comparable strength.

While not good at offense as a meat shield, it’s worth noting, that’s relative to other elites at the same level.

Up until now, the only demon that the Priestess had seen capable of facing Lucas’s sword was a black Giant Hammer Demon wielding a terrifying war hammer, towering over ten meters tall, like a giant, clad in simple but incredibly heavy armor.

Yet, even if it managed to block Lucas’s attack, it didn’t mean they were evenly matched. Every time that Giant Hammer Demon charged with a roar, the Golden-armored Warrior would immediately appear before the black-haired girl, clashing head-on with the hammer that fell from the sky, sending that hulking figure, three times the height of its own bulk, staggering backward, even severing its hammer handle and cleaving through its armor, leaving behind gruesome wounds that revealed bone.

Besides that, hardly any demon could stand in front of this Guardian of Heaven — they either fled, dodged, or were split in half, bursting into golden flames.

As for the demons that did retreat, Lucas wouldn’t chase after them, as his duty was to ensure Vilyric’s path forward; he was a Guardian, not an executioner slaughtering enemies that had fled.

Even when powerful invisible demons took the chance to sneak up on the black-haired girl while the Guardian dealt with other foes, attempting to strike at their moment of opportunity, the golden sphere of light floating beside her would instantly unleash a force far exceeding its appearance, blocking and slaughtering them, posing no threat at all.

Thus, under the diligent protection of these two, the Priestess hardly had to lift a finger as she effortlessly made her way through the mountains and arrived at yet another pitch-black cave.

Here, a blood-colored beam rose, connecting to the heavens.

However, only when she stepped closer did she vaguely notice that the energy flow of this beam was different from the blood imprint she had previously destroyed — it flowed not from below to above, but the other way around, pouring from the sky into the cave.

This meant something, and it became obvious.

Standing at the cave entrance, the girl glanced back.

Demons were still charging toward this place in droves, but no matter how recklessly they came, they couldn’t escape being repelled and slain by Lucas wielding his greatsword. The three-meter-tall Golden-armored Warrior stood like the Sacred Bergen Mountain on the earth, making it hard for any enemy to cross this impassable chasm.

It seems… additional support was unnecessary here.

Looking up again at the sky, in the distance, the platinum-colored giant dragon still soared under the blood-red sky, freely flying about, occasionally blasting out a fierce, surging white breath that shattered the falling blood-colored thunder, letting out an arrogant and disdainful roar.

It appeared that the Little Dragon Daughter had fully attracted most of the enemy’s attention and execution power, even slowing down the previously rapid expansion of the blood lines rising from the ground.

The girl shook her head with resignation.

Really… when your subordinates are too capable, you, as the master and summoner, feel pressure too.

“Lucas, I’ll leave the outside to you. No need to linger; just guard the cave entrance.”

“Understood, my lord!”

After a simple exchange, the black-haired girl’s figure disappeared into the darkness of the cave without looking back.

The path was clear.

The anticipated obstacles or traps hadn’t appeared; although she had noticed something similar during her SP investigation earlier, entering personally left the Priestess puzzled.

Why had no demon entered the vicinity of this cave? Were they forbidden or unwilling? Or perhaps… afraid?

Recalling the scenes she had viewed through her scanning perspective, Vilyric couldn’t help but wonder.

Accompanied only by the Light Element Spirit remaining by her side, she reached her destination.

A bizarre yet vaguely familiar sight greeted her.

In the deep, dark, and expansive cave, countless pink tentacles clung to the walls, suspending a pink cocoon, twice the size of the Giant Hammer Demon, hanging in mid-air.

Blood-like veins flowed ceaselessly within the cocoon.

It breathed, pulsed, as if nurturing a brand new life.

The blood-colored beam descending from the sky brought nearly limitless nutrients, and with each heartbeat-like pulsation, its breath expanded again, as though certain mysterious entities within were becoming increasingly complete, bearing incredible fruit.

“Ha… so, why is this kind of thing appearing here?”

The girl inadvertently sighed out loud.

Without a doubt, this was a cocoon, one that grew by draining the life of others, representing desecration and death.

And she had already seen similar things before.

She reached into the void, retrieving a blood-colored bat-shaped brooch, playing with it in her palm, before attempting to direct it at the beating flesh cocoon in the air…

However, there was no reaction.

Well, it seems this blood cocoon has no direct connection to the desecrated cocoons she saw in the Forgotten Land’s reflection world, at least… it has nothing to do with this “Dawn of Blood” from the Blood Clan Duchess Afra Constance.

But what should she do next…

To be honest, Miss Vilyric felt a bit of interest and curiosity about the mysterious entity growing inside the blood cocoon. It was only her cautious considerations that prevented her from outright destroying it.

Moreover, she remembered that according to the intel brought back by the previous vanguard army that had entered the Sacred Bergen Mountains, there should be more than just demons here. When the Temple Knights clashed with the enemy, they found not only the traces left by the demons but also erupted battles with another set of unidentified foes.

However, during her extensive SP scans, the Priestess had not found anything suspicious, rather, it seemed that in the area of the Sacred Bergen Mountain, where the blood-colored beam rose, there were almost no large living beings aside from the demons.

When the “Blood of the Reverse Cross” activated, those nearest to it had undoubtedly become the first sacrifices, but among the drained carcasses…

“Hm?”

Just as she was about to put the item back into her bag, suddenly, the girl frowned, casting her gaze deep into the cave toward a certain corner.
