Chapter 705
Chapter 136: The Holy Affiliates
As I stepped out of the cave and into the outside world, the giant dragon lady had transformed back to her true form and was still clashing fiercely with a suspected ruler of slaughter, thundering above in the sky.
The earth trembled with thunderous roars, and crimson gold breath collided with blood-red lightning, bursting forth and erupting in terrifying energy storms that were nearly tangible, sweeping away the wind and snow atop the Sacred Berg Mountains.
Vilyric had no intention of intervening there.
The little dragon daughter had drawn most of the enemy’s attention and strength, giving her enough time to deal with the curse amalgamation lurking in the Sacred Berg Mountain range. As for the ruler of slaughter, this super-spec existence could not possibly breach the world barrier with its true form. After all, it was likely just manipulating the power contained within the curse itself to battle Xiao Guang.
Once the “Blood of the Reverse Cross” was broken, the threats from the enemies on the little dragon daughter’s side would naturally diminish. Before that, she could just let her have some fun.
After communicating part of the information through a contract with the little dragon daughter, the black-haired girl stretched her white wings and soared into the sky once again.
Vilyric had already located the target’s position and general situation through her spiritual point scan; it was not far from this peak.
The blessing of the Divine Feather granted the Priestess a speed far beyond normal. In merely a few dozen seconds, she descended from the skies onto a high peak crowned with a blood column rising into the heavens, slowly retracting her wings and surveying her surroundings.
“Should be… right around here, I guess?”
Quickly, she fixed her gaze on a spot not far ahead, revealing a hint of a sly smile.
“Well, this warm welcome makes me feel a bit embarrassed.”
Mind scanning wasn’t a skill with enough concealment; while convenient and quick, it completely exposed Vilyric’s presence. So, it was entirely expected that her opponents would be prepared in advance.
However, the sheer number of enemies appearing here and their formidable power left the Priestess momentarily astounded.
In the forested peaks, figures that were either tall and burly, terrifyingly grotesque, or bizarre were obscured among the trees and bushes, almost entirely blocking her path. While they weren’t arranged in any formation, the aggressive aura that hit her face was enough to instill fear in ordinary folks.
This was an army formed by demons.
Over ten giant hammer demons armed with terrifying weapons, who practically required the Priestess to look up to see them, stood shoulder to shoulder in front of her. Above them, dozens of bizarre, bat-like figures with wings floated menacingly; these were the “Demon Eyes,” possessing the ability for mental attacks and magic power deprivation.
Looking around, the forest was practically filled with a multitude of magical beast figures, with more enemies closing in and gradually revealing themselves. Even among the shaded ancient trees, countless eerie gleams flickered, clearly indicating that assassins were hiding within, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Of course, this was just what could be seen “with the eyes.”
Summoning the Light Element Spirit, which had been temporarily dismissed due to high-speed flight, and letting it float beside her, the Priestess stepped forward.
One step, two steps, three steps.
“Swish!”
A sound of slicing through the air hit her ear.
The girl acted as if she hadn’t heard, and even before the attack could reach her, a light sphere at her side actively expanded a thin but remarkably tough barrier, blocking the eerie white scythe strike with a crisp “ding.”
Following that, a golden light shot out again, slashing through a small demon that had just appeared from the shadows and sending it tumbling to the ground.
Yet, as if a battle horn had sounded, before the Remains of the first demon could even hit the ground, seven or eight shadows sprung forth from all directions around the girl, throwing blades glowing with an eerie green light!
The girl remained still, but the Light Element Spirit, as if provoked, shrank slightly before erupting with an astonishing light akin to the blazing sun, melting away all the incoming attacks. It then unleashed countless beams of light, akin to a golden hedgehog brimming with icy glints, penetrating all enemies within a ten-foot radius!
“Puff puff puff puff puff puff puff puff puff puff!!!!”
Numerous piercing and landing sounds followed one after another, with at least a hundred oddly shaped demons turned into pincushions by this strike, most of whom hadn’t even had the chance to appear and attack.
The strength of a seventh-tier Light Element summon was something that mid- to low-tier demons, generally only at levels two to four under the world’s power suppression, couldn’t withstand. Even these shadow attackers could not handle a single strike from the little light sphere.
Although they were mid-tier demons, in actual performance, they bore no essential difference from lower-tier magical beasts.
Thus, Vilyric had no intention of wasting time on them.
As for dealing with the many more demons that hadn’t flinched in fear despite the loss of their comrades, who were now flocking toward her…
“Summon: Guardian of Heaven, Lucas.”
As she stepped forward, radiant light emerged from the palm of the girl, and in tandem, a brilliant beam of light several meters in diameter rose from the ground beneath her. When it dissipated, a heavily armored warrior draped in gold with steel wings and a full-face helmet appeared, kneeling on one knee.
“My lord, the Guardian of Heaven, Lucas, stands ready for orders.”
“Clear the path for me.”
“Understood!”
With a booming voice, the golden-armored warrior wasted no time, raising his intricately inscribed double-handed sword and stepping forward, sweeping it horizontally!
Several magical beasts leaping forward were cut cleanly in half, and then, a surge of golden light erupted from their bodies, exploding instantly!
Like bombs, the golden flames exploded, engulfing dozens of their nearby companions, violently throwing those flesh-and-blood figures from different directions in an instant, and then…
“Boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom!!!!!!!”
An unparalleled series of explosions immediately spread out!
Lucas could infuse his sword with sacred power into the bodies of the enemies he killed, turning them into living bombs engulfed in holy flames, and those who were slain by this ability would also explode, causing new chain reactions.
This was incredibly convenient for quickly clearing out dense low-tier enemies in crowded spaces, perfectly suitable for the current situation.
Terror-stricken and overwhelmed, countless magical beasts pouring out from the forests and surrounding her from all sides were ignited like fuses in just a few breaths, turning them into explosions of golden flames.
Trees toppled, winds gusted, and even Vilyric couldn’t believe the effectiveness of Lucas’s strike, which had cleared away more than half of the weaker demons on the scene in an instant. Those who managed to survive the explosions seemed to have suffered some injuries at the very least.
Moreover, many of the demons lurking in the treetops or cloaked in invisibility as distant assassins were also blown away by the catastrophic destruction and unavoidable AOE damage, many of them turning into similar exploding golden flames.
The defenses the demons had prepared for so long were almost entirely shattered in an instant.
This was the true oppression and dominance of a real strong person on the battlefield; even these demon forces practically comparable to a temple knight’s army of thousands faced the demigod and ended up being ruthlessly slaughtered.
“Holy….”
The Priestess momentarily halted her steps, gazing around at the chaotic scene, and ultimately could only shake her head helplessly.
“Well then, Lucas, well done.”
The golden-armored warrior slightly bowed his head, still devoid of any servility or arrogance.
“I am honored by your praise, my lord. These lowly enemies are simply not worthy to stand before you.”
“Clang!”
As soon as her words fell, Lucas quickly raised his sword again, blocking a terrifying war hammer that seemed to match his three-meter-tall frame, then with a swing of his hand, knocked it flying, crashing to the ground and creating a sound like thunder.
“My lord, just advance ahead; the enemies… are all left to me!”
