Chapter 636

Chapter 67: Daughter of Iloron

After the final rescue attempt failed, the guards could no longer stop the mysterious woman from seizing the artifact. A flash of brilliance, and the Enchantment Pearl vanished from the display along with the hazy figure, shooting up towards the hall’s ceiling like a streak of light!

“Bastard! Stop right there!”

Not one to give up due to a teammate’s blunder, Captain of the Guards Amy shouted, her once radiant hair suddenly shortening, reshaping into a fantastical and glorious pair of wings made of light behind her!

An overwhelming force burst forth, and Amy instantly repelled the tangled enemies around her, transforming into a golden streak of light as she pursued the retreating pink glow!

Clearly, she was faster.

“Clang!”

With a crisp sound of steel clashing, two figures appeared in midair once more.

One was the Light Tribe girl Amy, floating in the air with newly sprouted wings of light, and the other revealed an exceedingly peculiar form.

Her alluring pink hair cascaded down, playfully curling at the ends, while small black bat wings stretched out from her back, in harmony with the long tail of the same color extending from her rounded ample rear.

She wore only a black, flimsy tube top that barely covered her modest curves, her flat stomach and bare arms gleaming with striking whiteness, while her forearms were wrapped in skin-tight, semi-transparent black gloves.

Moving down, her ultra-short, tight hot pants revealed almost everything below the knee, even exposing nearly half of her long, smooth thighs. Her fair skin continued down to her feet, elegantly perched in towering black crystal high heels, completing the overall image.

The girl’s eyes were a light purple, like enchanted, deep violet gems, seemingly able to draw anyone who glanced into their depths at once, trapping them in a state of obsession, while the adorable heart-shaped protrusion at the tip of her tail and the long black horns on her head that were distinctly different from a half-beast showed her unique identity.

A demon, one of the four great rulers of the demon world, the representative race under the King of Corrosion, infamous for their reputation, loathed by countless clerics yet also feared and difficult to handle.

“Oh dear, Miss Light Tribe, why are you so intent on chasing me? Perhaps it’s because those gallant men earlier pitied me and sprang to protect me, inciting your jealousy?”

The charming demon girl shook a peculiar short dagger in her hand, barely ten centimeters long, with otherworldly magic patterns and gems intricately carved on it, reflecting a mesmerizing sheen under the light as she giggled behind her hand.

“Really troublesome, Miss. You seem so tightly bound in armor, it must be that you’re not very confident in your figure and charm~ I understand your plight, but even so, you can’t afford to be envious, oh ho ho ho~”

Ignoring the demon girl’s somewhat deliberate provocation, Amy merely tightened her grip on her long sword and cast her gaze over the still chaotic venue below.

“A mere demon… you’ve got some guts, barging into the Holy Nation’s western city of Mingguang, disrupting my Lingyin Merchant Association’s sales. Do you really think you can escape unscathed?”

The appearance of the demon fully explained the true reason for the sudden uproar among the crowd.

Even just one or two of these crafty demons, skilled at provoking hearts, could send an army of thousands into chaos if caught off guard and against prepared measures.

Not to mention, this demon before her, judging by the magic patterns on her forehead and the shape of her wings, was likely a transcendent-level demon ascender. Even though her strength would be somewhat suppressed here, reducing her power considerably, demons were not particularly adept at direct combat anyway, so the overall effect on her strength was relatively minor.

“Oh~ Miss, are you trying to chat with me to buy time until your backup arrives? You seem to lack confidence in your own strength, but… hee hee, I have other urgent matters to attend to, so I can only play with you next time.”

Clearly not wanting to waste time, the pink pearl in the demon girl’s hand began to emit an even more intense, hazy glow. With so little fabric on her minimal covering, her smooth, copious skin was now coated with a subtle, alluring sheen, drastically enhancing her already staggering allure, even causing fellow Light Tribe member Amy to momentarily lose focus upon direct gaze.

Those already enchanted below, stoking chaos or distracting the guards, were entirely enamored, standing foolishly and staring blankly at the enchanting figure in the air, completely losing their ability to judge for themselves.

“Hee hee, am I not beautiful?”

“…”

Startled awake by the demon girl’s subtly mocking laughter, Captain Amy quickly shook her head, trying to regain her composure amid the confusion.

A demon’s power lay in its charm; if unable to resist such erosion, engaging in combat was almost guaranteed to fail.

In ordinary circumstances, Amy would have been confident in standing against this suppressed demon ascendant, but now that the latter possessed the Enchantment Pearl… this semi-treasure from the King of Corrosion could have limited effectiveness in ordinary hands, yet for the demon, it could partially replace the lost function of the other half and unleash some of the terrifying artifact’s true power.

That was beyond what Amy, who had just reached the legendary rank, could endure, even as a member of the Light Tribe.

So…

The girl held her sword with both hands, took a deep breath, and unleashed a roar infused with magical might that echoed like thunder throughout the venue.

“President! How long are you gonna watch this playact, you old coot!!!???”

On the high platform, the white-haired elder with an ethereal demeanor couldn’t help but show a helpless smile.

“Hehe, the little girl is getting anxious; I suppose it’s time for us to make our entrance.”

“Need assistance?”

The Oracle stood up and shook her head in response to the kindly inquiring Miss White Fox.

“No need, Miss Xī can just observe this time. As the host, it wouldn’t be proper to have the guests act on our behalf.”

“Mm… is that so?”

Since the Oracle had said so, Miss Vilyric was happy to remain idle, especially since she still hadn’t quite figured out what this old man was planning.

If the idea was merely to lure out the demon by tempting her with the Enchantment Pearl and then capture her, the Oracle and others could have taken action the moment she appeared to seize the pearl, rather than waiting for Captain of the Guards to desperately hold the demon back and call for reinforcements.

That previous question was both a casual gesture and an attempt to explore the Oracle’s thoughts, but it seemed… this fellow still appeared to have everything under control.

The elder casually lifted the barrier that concealed the second-tier platform, which blocked outsiders from observing the interior situation, revealing the figures of the three inside to the floating Amy and the demon girl.

“Damn! So you really were just watching the show, you old man!”

“…?”

Upon seeing the Oracle appear, Amy was instantly overjoyed, while the demon girl opposite her looked far less pleased, especially as her gaze moved across the nondescript Miss White Fox and landed on the golden-haired girl beside her, radiating pure and holy energy, causing her alluring purple eyes to visibly narrow a bit.

Clearly, she recognized this famous Saintess and felt deeply wary of her.

Noticing the other’s gaze, Yuna slowly rose, revealing a vaguely meaningful smile to the demon girl in the air.

“Long time no see, daughter of Iloron, the seventh child of Corrosion, Chloé Iloron. You’ve come to reclaim the Enchantment Pearl, haven’t you?”
