Chapter 634

Chapter 65: Utterly… Insane!

The Enchantment Pearl emitted a tempting pink glow, almost like a tangible pink mist that had unconsciously spread throughout the entire sale venue. However, due to its purely faint illumination, it seemed to fail to attract the attention of most people present.

Even with just half remaining, could it naturally stir the deepest desires and madness within hearts…?

This Enchantment Pearl truly possesses some sort of magic, or is it…?

Casually, Miss Fox flicked her gaze toward the two beside her. With the abilities displayed by the Oracle and the Saint of Bright Light, Vilyric wouldn’t believe for a second that this residual power could affect them, and they likely already noticed the situation below.

But… there was no movement. Both of them just watched quietly, showing no intent to intervene or stop anything.

Thinking of some comments they had previously mentioned, Vilyric understood and chose to remain silent as well, adopting a stance of observation.

Meanwhile, the auction below, though already escalating due to some invisible forces, was starting to sway into troubling territory. Most of the people present still seemed oblivious, red-faced and hoarse as they threw out everything they could think of—wealth, just to exchange for the small crystal that radiated an eerie, alluring sheen.

Perhaps some attendees, like the formidable Shou Wickleef from the Ost Empire that Vilyric had noted earlier, had sensed something was odd and began preparing some countermeasures. But such individuals were so few down there, maybe even less than one-tenth.

So, before anyone realized it, what was once a fairly orderly auction, maintained by verbal bidding and squabbling, suddenly erupted. A robust, impressive-looking middle-aged man clad in luxurious armor swung a powerful punch at a nearby Beastman!

“Damn it! What are you worth to dare compete with us from the Olay Kingdom!!!”

That punch was both fast and fierce. Clearly, the man was quite formidable himself, and given that he caught the Beastman off guard in this situation, the latter was unprepared and got socked in the face, flying out!

The sturdy body crashed like a cannonball, causing chaos as it smashed through a multitude of chairs, sending people tumbling, and blood mixed with various debris pooled everywhere. The situation below spiraled into chaos immediately.

However, the Beastman was obviously not a simple character. Though it took a hefty blow, it seemed more lightly hurt than one might assume. Most of the bloodshed actually came from those unfortunate souls hit by collateral damage.

“Roar! You’re seeking death!”

Wiping the blood from its face, spitting out broken teeth, the blow seemed to awaken the savage instincts in the Beastman. Forgetting the occasion, it unleashed an angry, feral roar and charged at the man who claimed to hail from the Olay Kingdom!

Not only them.

“I’ve seen you as a pain in my neck for a long time! You like jacking up prices on purpose, right? I’ll raise you alright!”

“You want to fight? Come on! Whoever flinches is a coward!”

The sudden outbreak of fighting was like a spark falling into a barrel of explosives, instantly igniting unimaginable chaos throughout the grand hall. People brawled to vent their anger, shouted vile insults, others frantically dodged in fear, and even some fools tried to take advantage of the disarray to rush the central platform and snatch the Enchantment Pearl. Order was thrown into a tangled mess.

The guards of the Lingyin Merchant Association, responsible for maintaining order, hurriedly gathered to quell the disturbance. Yet, it seemed these tensions had been brewing for quite some time, and many attendees had skills to back them up, with some even being renowned powers. At this moment, they appeared a bit stretched thin.

After all, the guards’ main task was to protect the treasures on the platform— that charm-filled pearl— while other matters took a backseat.

Meanwhile, the auctioneer from the Lingyin Merchant Association was sharp enough to see the trouble brewing. Without a hint of intention to uphold order, he dared not touch that hot potato near him and nimbly slipped backstage, be it to summon reinforcements or simply to hide.

The numerous guards from the Lingyin Merchant Association surrounded the Enchantment Pearl tightly; in just a little while, they had already captured and subdued several troublemakers attempting to seize the treasures amidst the chaos.

“Wow… it’s vibrant down there~”

Sitting high up, Miss Fox looked at the fiery scene unfolding below and couldn’t help but chuckle lightly, as if watching a good show. The Oracle beside her, the president of the Lingyin Merchant Association, seemed unfazed and even had the leisure to engage in casual conversation with the girl.

“So, Miss Xī, are you satisfied with this performance?”

“Oh… so, you deliberate caused it to escalate like this, huh?”

The Oracle smiled.

“Of course not, how could we of the Lingyin Merchant Association create trouble for ourselves? We just didn’t stop some little mice lurking in the shadows, allowing them a bit of freedom to act. Just sit back and watch, the real show is only just beginning…”

Saying this, the elderly man subtly turned his “gaze” towards the nearby Saint of Bright Light.

“How is Her Highness Yuna preparing?”

The blonde saint, seated up high as well and observing coldly, slightly nodded. However, a fleeting look of pity and helplessness passed through her gem-like, sky-blue eyes.

“Human desires are even deeper than the darkness of the Abyss in the South. Merely having half of the Enchantment Pearl and some minor tricks could drive these nobles and powerful figures to fight like common folk, how pathetic… May light clear their hearts and call forth hope and redemption…”

“Indeed, otherwise, how would the demons, who feed on the desires of living beings, keep pestering this world incessantly? Desire is a driving force, but without self-control, it may also become a source of destruction.”

Just as the Oracle and the saintess were leisurely discussing the happenings from the high platform, the situation below suddenly underwent another drastic shift!

More than a dozen powerful individuals scattered around, whether brawling or spectating, each distinctly different in appearance and race, suddenly seemed to respond to some kind of call. They simultaneously turned their heads, their eyes sparkling with a faint pink glow, as if starving for three days and nights suddenly spotting bread— instantly filled with extreme desire before all rushing toward the treasures on the stage!

“The pearl! The Enchantment Pearl is mine!!!”
