Chapter 571
Chapter 2: The Creations of the Strange God
“Leave? Uh… are you saying…?”
Iriush seemed momentarily stunned, then patted her backside and stood up, looking a bit surprised at the Black-haired Girl.
Miss Vilyric simply nodded with a calm expression.
“Yes, that’s the literal meaning. We can’t possibly stay in Moonshadow Valley forever. If all goes well, I’m planning to head east into the Steel Claw territory, and then divert into the Holy Empire to continue my journey, so I wanted to ask if you’d like to join.”
“The Holy Empire, huh…”
After pondering for a moment, Iriush glanced at the experimental materials scattered all over the place, looking a bit hesitant.
“Uh, can I think about it? You know how moving and all…”
Before the Miss Doll could finish her sentence, Vilyric cheerfully interrupted.
“That’s fine, no rush. According to my estimates, some matters will take at least half a month to settle down. I’m just giving you a heads-up considering your special situation; just let me know before I leave.”
“Alright! Then let’s say that’s settled. Hurry up and take that dumb wolf away; with her around, I don’t even dare to take out my flying wings for modifications…”
“Okay, okay, I won’t disturb you while you invent. Just remember to rest, don’t overload your core and crash again.”
As Iriush shouted, “Pfft! What nonsense are you saying!” the Priestess laughed and bid farewell to her, carrying Noviya as she stepped out.
“Awuu?”
Feeling a stir in her chest as the breeze swept across the valley, the girl looked down and helplessly smiled, rubbing the head of the white wolf pup that was casting a damp, eager gaze at her, feeling a tad awkward.
“Stop bouncing around; there’s nothing to shake about. I know you’re hungry; I’ll take you back to find your mom soon, okay?”
“Awuu!”
As per the arrangement, the Priestess arrived at the Chief’s residence and returned Noviya to the slightly anxious Wolf King Vanessa, who, after a thorough check, finally sighed in relief upon confirming there were no injuries or abnormalities.
The two women sat across from each other, with Chief Vanessa consistently pouring a full goblet of fine brew for the Priestess.
By the way, since Vilyric had mentioned before that she didn’t like alcohol, the Chief prepared sweet goat milk for her, reportedly sourced from a magical beast called the Crunchy Goat from the Mountains of Ten Thousand Demons.
This goat, despite its low individual quality of only around the 1st-2nd rank with weak combat power, produced rich and uniquely delicious goat milk. Not only was it well-received in the mountains, but it was also frequently exported, making it a signature drink of the Mountains of Ten Thousand Demons.
As one of the three pillar leaders, the special preparation by Vanessa meant it was top-notch.
“Um, um… Chief Vanessa always brings me so much delicious food, I feel a bit embarrassed, heh heh…”
Observing the Black-haired Girl sipping goat milk and stuffing her mouth with desserts and tarts, the beautiful woman with bluish-gray long hair simply smiled while nursing the wolf pup in her arms.
“Miss Vilyric is being too polite. You’ve helped us so much; what’s embarrassing about a bit of food and drink? Speaking of which, that Miss Iriush’s attempt…”
“It failed.”
Hearing the Priestess’s unapologetic response, the hopeful glimmer in Vanessa’s eyes dimmed slightly as she nodded in silence.
“Oh? Is it really only…?”
Understanding her implication, Vilyric shook her head.
“Don’t rush. Although Iriush couldn’t handle it, I’m here. Actually, I have an idea that might resolve the core issue you’re facing. I initially planned to manage it in Demon Town, but this is even more suitable. However… I can’t guarantee its feasibility without a practical attempt, so I wanted to ask for your opinion, Chief.”
“Oh? What’s the idea? Since things have come to this point, Miss Vilyric, feel free to share.”
“Um…”
Setting down her goblet, the White Robed Girl pondered momentarily before cautiously speaking up.
“Chief Vanessa, what are your thoughts on the appearance of creations from other deities in the land of the Demon Gods?”
“Creations from other deities…?”
The Wolf King’s expression showed slight surprise as she opened her mouth, seemingly wanting to say something, but ultimately, she simply glanced at the child contentedly drinking milk in her arms, and silently replied.
“Can you tell me which deity?”
“Well… it’s a long-lost divine being. You might not recognize its name if I mentioned it, but you could call it the Life Goddess.”
“Life…?”
Sure enough, Vanessa seemed a bit bewildered by this title, though perhaps considering Vilyric’s standing, she didn’t question it further and pondered.
“Sounds like a deity of order? Because of the ancestral Moonshadow Wolf God, I’ve dabbled a bit in the remains of the ancient gods, but I haven’t heard of a ‘Life’ goddess. Are you certain that’s her true name?”
Not withholding much, the Black-haired Girl nodded.
“Indeed, it seems Chief Vanessa has quite the knowledge on these matters. Yes, the Life Goddess is a deity of order. It’s also normal that you haven’t heard her name since she has only recently become a new god.”
“I know various details, but without the deity’s approval, I can’t disclose everything… however, one thing I can promise is that the creations of this Life Goddess will not bring any harm to the Mountains of Ten Thousand Demons. On the contrary, they can solve the problems you currently face and even nurture a whole land, thus providing great blessings.”
At this point, Vilyric laughed a bit shyly.
“I just worry a bit about the belief issue. After all, you magical beasts worship the Demon Gods… I just feel like doing this is a bit… heh heh…”
“I see.”
It seemed Vanessa had weighed the pros and cons in her heart for a while. After some hesitation, she finally nodded.
“Alright, on behalf of the Moonshadow Clan, I fully endorse this matter. Though, it indeed involves a wide range of issues, and the Ten Thousand Demon Alliance isn’t solely under our clan’s control. Even without considering the Steel Claw and the Fiery Wings’ attitudes, there’s one place you might still need to…”
Without needing the beautiful woman to point it out, the Priestess already understood her meaning.
“Are you referring to Tiyelu? Indeed, she is the true guardian and ruler of the Mountains of Ten Thousand Demons now, and her faith in the Demon Gods is far stronger than that of other magical beasts… It’s fine, I plan to head that way soon to handle a few matters, so I’ll discuss this with her as well.”
Feeling a sense of relief, Vanessa lowered her head, looking a bit ashamed.
“I’m sorry for making you, Miss Vilyric, bear the burden. Clearly, you are a great benefactor of the Mountains of Ten Thousand Demons, and this act is meant to help us, yet you still have to…”
“Haha ~ it’s no problem! To be honest, there are not many things that can interest me, and this is one of them, so Chief Vanessa, you don’t need to feel too burdened.”
The Priestess finished the goat milk in her goblet, wiped her mouth, and smiled again.
“Besides, I might have to bring Noviya with me this time, after all…”
“Um, I understand. So, Miss Vilyric, as an unfit mother, I entrust my daughter to you…”
