Chapter 506
Chapter 137: Wolf King, Hermit, and Priestess
After a while, the strange phenomenon in the sky gradually dissipated, the luminous light returned, and the temple closed once more. However, the dispersed dark clouds and heavy rain didn’t return; instead, the bright sunlight shone down on the wet ground, reflecting shimmering waves.
The radiance around Noviya slowly receded into her body, and she gently descended from the sky, as if asleep, caught by Vanessa, who had transformed back into human form earlier.
It was as if a great weight had been lifted; the Chief Elder and Aiste exchanged light laughter before the former nodded towards Vilyric and the others who had just witnessed the entire spectacle.
“My apologies for keeping you waiting. Please follow me, the clan is ready to welcome our long-distant guests.”
With that, Vanessa finally turned around and led the way towards the residential area outside the valley.
Vilyric and the others naturally followed along.
On the way, Edwina suddenly tugged at the sleeve of the black-haired girl ahead, whispering cautiously.
“Miss Vilyric, was that degree of strange phenomenon related to…?”
“Yeah, it probably… has to do with the power of the ‘God’.”
With that simple explanation, or rather confirmation of the Holy Knight’s speculation, Vilyric lapsed into silence, not saying more.
That white wolf was most likely the ancestor mentioned by Aiste who had drunk divine blood. Although it wasn’t clear what everything entailed, one thing was certain: it didn’t create this celestial phenomenon solely through its own power.
In that instant, Vilyric clearly felt threads of indefinable forces gathering from all directions, surging towards the white wolf’s figure in the sky, including those emanating from the Moonshadow Magical Wolves led by Vanessa.
However, neither the few of them nor the man who seemed to be a commoner emanated such a feeling. It was a vague sensation, fleeting, yet Vilyric had reason to suspect it was the so-called “Power of Faith.”
And if it could accept faith and create such a spectacle, that white wolf was very likely a deity with a Divine Spark.
Of course, it wasn’t necessarily the main body; it seemed more like a fragment of the true white wolf’s soul or consciousness left behind.
Was it a god related to the Magical Beasts, or perhaps… related to the Moon Goddess?
As the heavy rain ceased, Iriush quickly retracted the “Multifunctional Travel Assistant No. 71” that had been hovering beside her, transforming it back into a tablet form and stowing it away in her bag under the curious gazes of others, especially Vanessa.
Yet, for some reason, she appeared a bit flustered, muttering something like “thank goodness, thank goodness,” but Vilyric, contemplating the white wolf and the Power of Faith, didn’t pay much attention to such triviality.
While reflecting on those matters, Vanessa had already led the Priestess and others across the square to a cave on the hillside of the valley.
She didn’t rush inside but stood silently, cradling the peacefully sleeping Noviya, gazing at the excited clan members dispersing below.
It was the commoner man with demigod-level strength who chuckled and spoke first.
“Congratulations, Chief Vanessa. With this, the Moonshadow Clan has turned misfortune into fortune, finally welcoming back the long-lost ancestral bloodline; the future is bright, truly bright.”
“…”
The Chief Elder turned to him, her gaze filled with meaning as she looked at the congratulatory man and the silent tree spirit girl beside him, before breaking into a smile.
“This is all thanks to you and Lady Tiyelu’s care, and the power of the Source of Magic. However, I didn’t expect Noviya’s bloodline to activate so quickly; it doesn’t match the information we had. I suppose… it might be connected to our esteemed guests here.”
At this point, Vanessa turned her attention to the delayed Priestess and her group, not adopting the air of a high-ranking clan leader. Instead, she offered a sincere, warm, and apologetic smile.
“My apologies for the sudden turn of events, which deviated somewhat from our original plan. I could only adapt on the spot, completing the ceremony while the ancestor’s soul was activated, and I’ve kept you waiting.”
“I am Vanessa Moonshadow, the current leader of the Moonshadow Magical Wolves, and as you can see, also the mother of Noviya. I’ve received first-hand information regarding the situation on the human side from the Magic Track Fortress, and I am truly grateful for your rescue of my daughter.”
The elegant woman with dark blue hair gradually bowed, her hands folded over her ample chest, seemingly performing a gesture of special respect typical to magical beings. The Priestess, too, did not fuss over this gesture.
After all, those two million magic points were no small sum; they must be worth more than two million gold coins…
“Collaboration is only natural. Since Noviya has been returned to you, the task Lady Tiyelu entrusted to me has been successfully completed. She mentioned that arrangements have been made for reception; may I ask who it is?”
“I see… You must be Miss Vilyric, then. Your appearance and demeanor match what Lady Tiyelu described perfectly.”
Vanessa sized up the black-haired girl a few times, quickly surveying the others behind Vilyric, and smiled.
“The designated guide from Lady Tiyelu has already arrived in Moonshadow Valley, and I can take you to meet him now. However, due to some important confidential matters, only you may go. Of course, Miss Vilyric’s companions will be treated to the highest standards, with arrangements for their rest, so I hope you understand.”
“Oh, I see…”
Mmm, indeed, it seems the great races are different; they are more organized and structured compared to the Puppeteer Clan, but this is within reason.
It must be this guy.
Vilyric glanced at the commoner man standing nearby. She remembered Vanessa specifically mentioning “you and Lady Tiyelu,” indicating that their statuses were comparable or similar in her view.
The fact that he was at level 80 strongly supported this point.
After exchanging glances with Little Dragon Daughter and communicating through their pact, Vilyric nodded.
“Then let’s proceed as you suggest. The mountain wolves were borrowed from our friends, so please treat them well and don’t bully them.”
“Rest assured, that is natural.”
After giving some final instructions to Leila in charge and leaving Little Dragon Daughter with them, Vilyric allowed the others to follow Aiste and another great magical general of the Moonshadow Clan. With Little Guang there, even if something unexpected happened, they should be fine.
Meanwhile, on the hillside at the outer perimeter of the square, only the Priestess, Vanessa, the tree spirit general, and a rather pretentious mysterious man remained. Even the now-sleeping Noviya was taken by Aiste and carried away.
“Alright, now that unrelated parties have left, Miss Vilyric, please follow me; we’ll talk in detail inside.”
Vanessa smiled and nodded, setting off with the other two as they made their way toward the stone house, her steady, resonant, and authoritative voice still echoing.
“You are a benefactor to our clan, and according to Lady Tiyelu’s wishes, we will clearly share those secrets of interest with you.”
