Chapter 492

Chapter 123: Noviya Moonshadow

The terrifying pull brought by the Source of Magic vanished as Noviya finished her meal, and the heavy magical energy that accumulated in the air gradually dissipated.

This chaotic source of magic was far too mixed and could not compare to the pure Magic Points that Miss Vilyric provided; Noviya’s efficiency in absorbing this magic was even less than one-tenth of the latter, which was why it piled up in the environment.

When the Priestess woke up to the change in magical concentration, it was already late at night. After running around for a while, when she returned to her place with the softly snoring little wolf cub in her arms, the sky was already starting to lighten.

The Puppeteer Clan girls who had collapsed in the hall due to the loss of magic hadn’t woken up yet; it seemed they needed some more time to reboot. After confirming everything was returning to normal through a brief exchange with the Little Dragon Daughter guarding the hall’s entrance, Miss Vilyric returned Noviya to Aiste’s room and went back to rest with her pet.

This unexpected turn of events came quite suddenly, but fortunately, no one was harmed, so any issues could wait until tomorrow to discuss.

Although the Divine race didn’t need sleep, after consuming so much Magic Points all night and being awakened earlier, Miss Vilyric finally relaxed and felt a bit tired.

With her deepening understanding of this body, Miss Vilyric was gradually grasping some concepts.

For instance, while she usually didn’t require sleep, if there was a large consumption of Spiritual Points, she would still feel noticeably fatigued. The importance of Magic Points, while not as crucial as the former, also appeared to have at least some effect, requiring sleep for quick replenishment.

Though tonight’s events were a bit baffling, they could still be seen as a valuable experience and trial.

“Phew… time to sleep; hopefully, nothing weird happens again…”

Yawning, Miss Vilyric slipped off her white robe and lay back down, silently feeling the less-than-half magical energy remaining in her body. She pushed aside the questions swirling in her mind, cleared her thoughts, and soon fell into a deep sleep.

“Knock knock knock knock, knock knock knock knock!”

A series of urgent knocks brought Miss Vilyric gradually back from her deep sleep.

“Ugh…”

Irritated, she peeked her head out from under the covers, squinting at the door shaking violently from the force of the knocks. She then shut her eyes again, taking several seconds to prepare before reluctantly opening them once more amidst the increasingly frantic knocking.

“What’s going on… disturbing my peaceful dreams so early…”

“Miss Vilyric! Miss Vilyric, wake up! Something’s happened, something huge!!”

Eh? How rare! It’s Renée waking me up today. But wait, she just said something happened? What…

Hold on.

As the sleepiness faded, Miss Vilyric rubbed her eyes and quickly recalled everything that happened last night.

What time is it now?

She turned her gaze towards the clock hanging on the wall, specially made by the Puppeteer Clan, which looked almost identical to the one from her memory. The hour hand was nearing the center.

Ten-thirty, almost noon…

She had returned to rest near dawn last night, so sleeping in this late was normal, while Renée and the others rushing in at this hour indicated they had only just woken up.

Clearly, this was a lingering effect from the forced withdrawal of magic.

Hmm… my magic has fully recovered, which is within expectations.

“I’m coming, I’m coming!”

With her thoughts racing, Miss Vilyric wasted no time, jumped out of bed, summoned her white robe, and quickly opened the door.

What met her gaze was indeed a slightly anxious face belonging to Renée.

Seeing the Priestess safely appear at the door, the white-feathered girl’s face lit up with joy, her previous panic diminished significantly, as if she suddenly found her backbone.

“Miss Vilyric! It’s a relief you’re okay! Strange things seem to have happened last night! For some reason, everyone is especially tired today and woke up really late. My sister and I usually wake up at six o’clock in the morning, but inexplicably slept until now! And that Lady Noviya…”

Waving her hand to interrupt Renée’s rapid-fire chatter, Miss Vilyric, who had a rough idea of what was going on, simply offered a reassuring smile and got straight to the point.

“Where are they now? Take me to see.”

“Ah? Uh, okay! Please follow me!”

So, under Renée’s guidance, the two girls quickly left the room and arrived at the hall, which had already gathered quite a few people.

Leila, Edwina Cecelia, Tilysha, and Aiste, along with the Puppeteer Clan members remaining at the inn, were gathered around a table, fixated on something in the center, chattering away.

“Make way, make way! Miss Vilyric is here!”

Upon hearing Renée’s urgent call, everyone quickly turned and parted, allowing the Priestess to see the object of their attention.

It was a little silver wolf with soft, fluffy fur that shone as if sparkling. It was toddling across the wooden table on its four soft paws, clearly unconcerned about the curious glances from everyone around it.

Well, this is how it is.

Noviya Moonshadow, the little Moonshadow Magical Wolf cub that had probably been asleep for several months or more, had truly woken up after last night’s incident, and even her appearance had changed dramatically.

Given the fatigue everyone felt from losing magic this morning, it was no wonder Renée was in such a tizzy.

But why didn’t she transform directly into a human or a Magical General form? Is it because she doesn’t know how to change proactively? Or is there another reason?

“Miss Vilyric? It looks like you already know what happened last night regarding Lady Noviya…”

With her exceptional abilities and her knack for interpersonal relations, Leila had subtly emerged as the second leader of the group, apart from the Priestess, and immediately directed a questioning look at Miss Vilyric.

Although she didn’t look too well herself, clever Miss Leila seemed to have guessed something upon seeing Miss Vilyric’s unsurprised expression.

“All right, no need to panic. I’ll explain everything later. Has Miss Iwen and the others not arrived yet?”

“After discovering the situation here, I immediately sent someone to notify the Clan Leader. We should receive a response soon enough.”

“Hmm, you did well.”

Nodding in satisfaction, Miss Vilyric didn’t delve into an explanation just yet; instead, she turned her gaze towards a certain humanoid Magical Wolf girl nearby, who looked puzzled and confused. With a half-smile, she asked.

“Before that, Aiste, don’t you think it’s time to explain what exactly is going on with this little princess? I can’t believe you didn’t tell me anything about what happened last night…”

“Miss Aiste, I don’t like being plotted against, whether it’s you, the Moonshadow Clan, or Tiyelu. I can give you a chance to explain, but I hope you won’t try to cover lies with lies. Honestly, that would be very disappointing and infuriating for me.”

Undoubtedly, as one of the few great Magical Generals of the Moonshadow Clan, Aiste surely knew a lot. Her understanding of Noviya would definitely exceed Miss Vilyric’s.

The spectacle of the three moons shining together last night might seem inconsequential to an average person, but to say Aiste, as a Moonshadow Magical Wolf, didn’t anticipate anything would be a lie.

However, just as Miss Vilyric stated, Aiste had failed to give any prior warnings or alerts, which didn’t align with Miss Vilyric’s understanding of Aiste as a wolf.

Of course, there could be misunderstandings—after all, so far, Aiste didn’t appear to be the type that enjoys scheming and deceiving others, so the Priestess decided to hear how Aiste intended to explain.

“This…”

After a brief hesitation, Aiste subtly glanced around at the people and a few Puppeteer Clan girls, and the Priestess immediately caught on. She took two steps forward and waved her hand, creating a transparent half-circle barrier that enveloped her and the Magical Wolf girl in their small space, then turned to Leila, signaling her to remain calm.

Miss Vilyric believed that intelligent Leila would certainly understand the implication.

Having completed that, the Priestess turned her gaze back to Aiste, who was now very close.

“All right, now we can speak without concern, right?”

“Um… thank you for your understanding, Miss Vilyric. To be honest, this was truly just an accident. I didn’t expect things would turn out like this…”
