Chapter 471
Chapter 102: Wings Gradually Flourishing
“Snow Wing?”
As Little Dragon Daughter mentioned this, Miss Vilyric immediately envisioned the cute little bird she had created with her own hands—pure white and soft all over.
Speaking of which, it had been a while since she last saw that little guy.
After the connection with Aibus was completely severed, Snow Wing became the sole source of light in that world, soaring through the skies every day, bestowing new brilliance upon the Abyss.
But now that night had fallen, that little creature had probably returned to the pet space to rest. After creating her, Vilyric had visited Snow Wing a few times. Although Snow Wing couldn’t speak yet, she was full of spirit, and thanks to the automatically signed pet contract, communication was not much of an obstacle.
However, Vilyric had never tried summoning Snow Wing to this world. After all, she was a being created by Vilyric’s hands from a thing of Aibus’ world, those shining particles, making it hard to determine if it would trigger some sort of rejection—perhaps even malice—from this world.
“Is it really okay?”
The two girls were in sync, and Little Dragon Daughter immediately understood Vilyric’s worries, shaking her head in reassurance.
“Don’t worry, don’t forget that Snow Wing is your dependent. As long as the master can walk freely in this world, she will be regarded as a part of you by the laws, so the mere rejection is nothing to worry about.”
“Alright…”
Since Little Light had assured her, Vilyric, who always trusted her, no longer hesitated and immediately began to chant in the way that naturally arose in her heart.
<Contract Summon, Snow Wing!>
No need to sketch any magic circles; at the very moment Vilyric called out in a voice that seemed to contain some strange power, a tremendous rumble echoed as a brilliant light, far exceeding the flickering campfire that barely illuminated the cave, suddenly flooded into the cave from outside!
Those in the cave might have their view obstructed and could only see such a scene, but Vilyric’s avatar left outside clearly witnessed that astonishing spectacle.
The familiar gate of the divine kingdom opened in the air, endless brilliance suddenly tearing through the dark night, and a giant snow-white bird gracefully emerged from within, spreading its wings and letting out a triumphant cry!
“Caw!”
The giant bird’s bright golden eyes swept through the sky and almost instantly locked onto the cave where Vilyric and the others were, releasing another loud cry, before swooping down like a white lightning bolt, its powerful claws piercing through the mountain’s body, precisely capturing the giant azure serpent below that had yet to react, rendering it completely immobile!
“Hiss hiss hiss!”
The giant serpent emitted a series of terrified and furious hisses. It struggled desperately, trying to resist, attempting to bite the snow bird’s long, powerful claws with its sharp, poisoned fangs, but those venomous, magical strikes couldn’t penetrate the seemingly delicate skin of the white bird at all.
“Caw~”
The latter merely disdainfully exerted a bit of force, and its claws easily crushed the giant serpent’s scales, embedding deeply into its soft body, splattering a large amount of dark green blood!
“Hiss hiss hiss hiss!!!”
In overwhelming pain, the giant serpent struggled even more fiercely, but Snow Wing’s sharp claws remained firmly clamped onto it, even embedding into the hard rocky layers, the serpent’s thrashing only served to make the torn wounds more devastating.
Wait, wait, is this Snow Wing?
Miss Vilyric, who took a moment to react, was dumbfounded.
This wasn’t right…
When it was first born, that little creature was only four or five meters long, and its wings were at most the size of a single-person bedroom. The last time she saw it more than half a month ago, it had indeed changed, but only increased in size by about a third, still within normal range.
But now, this… had to be at least fifty meters long? Over ten times its original size?! No wonder Snow Wing didn’t appear directly in the cave; it wouldn’t even fit!
This child wouldn’t have eaten some strange food over in Aibus’ side, would she? How could she change so drastically all of a sudden?!
Standing at the cave entrance, Edwina and the other three girls, ready to engage in battle with the giant serpent, were left gaping. In fact, the serpent didn’t even have time to crawl into the cave; its head was still slithering through that dark passage when it was mercilessly crushed by the white light and descending bird’s claws.
Even the entire cave’s mountain body trembled due to the giant claw of brilliant light piercing in, destroying large sections of the rocky layers, causing the Priestess to worry whether there would be another major collapse.
“Hiss… hiss hiss…”
The giant serpent’s hisses soon faded. Though it was large, compared to Snow Wing now, it was vastly inferior in strength and size, not to mention that birds naturally prey on serpentine creatures.
That lethal claw had gruesomely squeezed the front third of its head nearly away from its body, with only a few bits of flesh barely holding it together.
Yet it was this somewhat eerie serpent; had it been another creature, even a high-ranking magical beast might have died from such a grievous injury, but that azure giant serpent continued to emit wretched screams, noticeably weaker than its previous vigorous self, yet still tried to struggle a few times, seeming to have not completely given up hope.
“Caw ~ Caw ~”
Snow Wing chirped cheerfully a few times, and without waiting for the giant serpent to pass away completely, she took the bludgeoned serpent’s body, which had been split nearly in half and was still gushing with blood, and just like munching on snack sticks, she chomped a few times before swallowing it whole.
Then, pleased, she turned to look at the SP avatar of Vilyric left out in the world, her giant snow-white bird head nuzzling affectionately closer, letting out a series of jubilant cries.
With no choice but to stare at the giant Snow Wing radiating pure white light, Vilyric’s spiritual avatar naturally could not make contact with it, so she temporarily shifted her perspective back to her real body, making eye contact with the Little Dragon Daughter beside her, who was clearly holding in her laughter.
No wonder this girl suggested letting Snow Wing eat that serpent; she obviously knew the little white bird had already grown into a big white bird. The decisiveness and ferocity of the latter’s action showed she had become a mature hunter. It appeared that Little Light had quite seriously been teaching her little sister hunting and combat techniques.
“When did she suddenly start growing larger?”
“About a week ago, I think. Apparently, that underground world established some new cult worshiping the sun god bird that brings light, and then the stupid… I mean, Snow Wing’s size began to increase significantly, and her combat abilities became stronger… or something like that.”
I see…
So that morning a few days ago when she came out of the pet space, Little Dragon Daughter was in such a mess. It seemed Snow Wing’s rapid enhancement in combat power caught her a bit off guard.
The Power of Faith.
After hearing the description, such terminology uncontrollably sprang to mind for Vilyric.
Xi Fu Lin had mentioned that the Power of Faith is a sort of invisible karma that can only be generated when countless lives simultaneously revere and appreciate a certain confirmed target, helping the gods representing concepts to enhance their power and become stronger.
But clearly, Snow Wing was not a god. Though she had a high level of lv90, she did not possess something called a <Divine Spark>. Rather, it was strange enough that she had such a high level from the moment of her birth without possessing a Divine Spark.
After all, she wasn’t like Little Dragon Daughter, who directly came from a special life in the game.
So how exactly did Snow Wing absorb the Power of Faith to grow? Or perhaps this was just a coincidence, and there was actually another reason?
