Chapter 467

Chapter 98: An Unusual Aura

Therefore, the so-called territory was not the kind of scene Miss Vilyric initially imagined, fenced in with wooden rails and filled with tents or wooden houses, resembling a farm.

It was still mountains, but compared to the surrounding peaks that seemed to pierce the clouds, the residence of the Mountain Wolf Clan was evidently much lower. Against the backdrop of the surrounding mountains, it looked more like a basin.

“Aiste, is this the Mountain Wolf Clan’s territory? Where are the mountain wolves?”

“Uh…”

Standing at an entrance that obviously resembled a mountain path, Miss Mage Wolf looked around, scratching her head in confusion.

“Strange, I should not have been mistaken. Twenty-seven years ago when I passed through here, there indeed was a Mountain Wolf clan settled nearby. We have entered their territory, so we should encounter some patrolling guys soon, but where are they…?”

“Wait, how many years ago did you say?”

“Well, let’s just move on for now! Maybe the wolves that patrol this area are just out for dinner?”

“Do you even believe that…?”

Although everything seemed unreliable, to the point that Priestess had almost equated Aiste with a fool in her mind, since they were already here, regardless of whether the Mountain Wolf Clan was present or not, they had to go in and take a look.

A group of several people walked along the mountain path as night gradually fell. The surrounding environment quickly darkened, and the rustling sounds of bugs in the forest added an air of mystery to the already dim twilight, causing the timid and somewhat scared Tilysha to lean closer to the Priestess, who was dressed in white and exuded a strong sense of security.

“Miss Vilyric, I can’t shake the feeling that this place is a bit odd. I have a not-so-good premonition…”

“Oh? What do you mean? Is that intuition of yours acting up again?”

While walking forward, Vilyric turned her head to look at the blue-haired girl who didn’t seem quite right.

“Well… I feel a heaviness in my chest and difficulty breathing. Every time I experience this feeling, it usually indicates the presence of some terrifying danger nearby. We should be careful.”

Tilysha had a special talent for sensing good and bad omens, something the Priestess was aware of. According to Xi Fu Lin, this was likely due to her excellent affinity with high-level beings, causing her to resonate with the environment to some extent.

The heart palpitations she felt were, in fact, echoes of certain events that had occurred here in the past, the terrifying emotions left by victims resonating through Tilysha.

Could it be that the Mountain Wolf Clan Aiste had mentioned still lived here, but had faced some recent troubles?

The first thing Vilyric thought of were poachers.

However, the location they were in was deep within the Mountains of Ten Thousand Demons. Despite having traversed many peaks without encountering anything, that was mainly because Aiste had been actively projecting her overwhelming aura as the ruler of the southern domain and the Moonshadow Magical Wolf Clan, scaring off many magical beasts that would have otherwise attacked them.

In such a dangerous area, while it wouldn’t be impossible for poachers to appear, very few would specifically bear the high costs to come here and attack the Mountain Wolf Clan, which held little value for humans.

Moreover, the Mountains of Ten Thousand Demons had been tightly sealed off for a long time, and with the recent crackdown within the United Kingdom, the chances of poachers causing trouble were slim.

“Aiste, does the Mountain Wolf Clan have any enemies or opposing races nearby?”

The Alliance of Ten Thousand Demons was a relatively loose organization. Although they generally united against outsiders, internal harmony was not absolute. The three major pillars cooperated while also competing against each other, as shown in the aftermath of the incident in Demon Town.

Additionally, among the lesser tribes and clans, conflicts occasionally erupted for various reasons: food distribution, territorial encroachments, ideological differences, etc. Given that magical beasts generally possessed intelligence comparable to humans, the reasons for these ridiculous disputes were bound to be even more.

However, they usually knew how to hold back and wouldn’t take things too far.

If the territory of the Mountain Wolf Clan was empty due to attacks from other rival races, it could be understood. After all, it was said that in such internal matters, major clans typically wouldn’t interfere lightly.

Yet, Aiste shook her head without hesitation on the issue.

“No, the Mountain Wolf Clan, as a branch of our Moonshadow Magical Wolves, though they are distant relatives, still possess decent average strength. There shouldn’t be any races in these nearby mountains that would provoke them. If a stronger clan were to migrate here, our Moonshadow Clan would be well aware of it.”

“If we were in the mountains bordering the Steel Claw or Fiery Feather clans, there might be battles over territory, but that’s impossible here.”

“I see…”

Although Aiste came off as a bit dopey and unreliable, after all, she was a great general of the Moonshadow Clan, and it should be unlikely that she would be mistaken about something as significant as this.

Let’s trust her one more time.

If it wasn’t a typical territorial dispute and it wasn’t poacher invasion, then what exactly was making Tilysha feel uneasy?

Forget it, guessing here was futile. It seemed this area was pretty secluded anyway, so they might as well just take a look.

Vilyric closed her eyes, and the vast Spiritual Points transformed into an invisible web that quickly enveloped the entire hill beneath their feet.

After a short while, she reopened her silver-blue eyes, which flickered with golden light, her expression turning serious as she searched left and right, seemingly locking onto a particular direction.

The other girls standing nearby didn’t seem to be affected by the spread of Spiritual Points. This was only natural. After all, Vilyric’s control over Soul Power had greatly improved after their journey to the Kingdom of Azure. Though she was still far from being like Xi Fu Lin, a true deity, she could at least manage superficial control quite freely now.

At the very least, it wouldn’t lead to any inexplicable situations like what happened on Omoland.

“Master, you just…”

Only the Little Dragon Daughter, whose power was closest to Vilyric’s, keenly sensed the soul power that had spread out earlier. Without needing much verbal communication, Vilyric merely nodded.

“Yes, I found it. There are indeed mountain wolves, but… it seems they are having some problems. Everyone, follow me.”

Although she still looked somewhat perplexed and unsure of what was happening, the Priestess’s authority and credibility among the group were undisputed. Since she had spoken, even Aiste, who had spent the least amount of time with them, didn’t express any more objections and simply followed the pace of the black-haired girl.

Vilyric did not continue up the mountain path but instead veered to the side, stepping onto the muddy soil in the shady area, parting the bushes as she searched for something in the fully darkened night.
