Chapter 431

Chapter Sixty-Two: Pure Love Strike!

Even though it was hard to grasp, there was one thing Miss Vilyric could be sure of: this was definitely a long-planned action by the Adventurers’ Guild, and there was certainly a larger force pushing things from behind.

It was truly chaotic below… even the Priestess was almost lost in the situation.

Regardless, it was a fantastic thing that the Adventurers’ Guild was willing to move to exterminate the poachers. This largest civilian organization in the United Kingdom and the official Demon Town would definitely not be on the same side; otherwise, the latter wouldn’t have been needlessly difficult for the adventurers, which had led to a certain hotheaded youth’s anger.

“Master, should we intervene? Which side should we assist?”

Cough, as expected of Xiao Guang, who treats all lowly beings with indifference, her stance was utterly unbiased…

While lamenting this in her heart, Vilyric simply shook her head.

“We won’t help either side. Our first goal is to find that guy with bangs, make sure he hasn’t been taken out, and then decide on our subsequent actions based on the situation.”

“Yes, I understand.”

Finding the guy with bangs wasn’t too difficult; a wide area SP scan could be a trump card to use when absolutely necessary. However, before reaching that point, Vilyric had other, more low-key methods.

Like the simplest one.

“Hmm… Xiao Guang, you still remember that guy with bangs’ scent, right?”

“Of course, Master. He is in this area. Should we head out right away?”

“Of course, then I’ll leave it to you~”

The sense of smell of a pureblood giant dragon surpasses that of any search or drug-detecting dog by quite a margin, especially since Xiao Guang possessed the strongest physical abilities with her diamond crystal dragon bloodline. Back when they were in the City of Courage, she had picked up on Rebecca’s dragon aura from quite a distance; her sensitivity was evident.

Right now, although Little Dragon Daughter probably didn’t particularly pay attention to the weak human with bangs, they had spent some time together closely. It was like the info had been entered into a computer database; as long as the distance wasn’t too far and time wasn’t too long, they should be able to track him down by scent.

Avoiding the most intense combat zones, Vilyric and the two women entered through the black market’s side entrance.

Under Little Dragon Daughter’s lead and intentionally avoiding fights, they moved quickly. The battles in the black market looked like they had been going on for a while. There were hardly any pedestrians on the way; the stalls were either already cleared away or a chaotic mess, and occasionally, they spotted several poachers dead on the side of the road.

However, adventurers’ corpses were nowhere to be seen, likely because they had come prepared and suffered fewer casualties. Moreover, even if some truly died, their companions must have gathered their remains.

And this sort of thing would clearly be unlikely in the underworld itself, where even one’s own people could be schemed against.

As they walked, Vilyric felt something strange, or rather, this path gave her a sense of déjà vu.

But Xiao Guang wouldn’t lead her astray; there was no way she would mess things up. So the Priestess didn’t say much.

Until Vilyric could hear the increasingly close sounds of battle, a gradually visible gilded sign confirmed her suspicions.

“This place… is that the Universal Shop?”

“Yes, Master, that human is just ahead.”

The black-haired girl raised her gaze and saw about a dozen adventurers fiercely fighting against a similar number of others. Vilyric quickly found a certain bang guy in the crowd.

This guy was swinging his beaten-up two-handed sword against a short-haired man in casual clothing, gun in hand.

For some reason, the guy with bangs looked very angry, his eyes bloodshot, and Aileen, who was supposed to be by his side, seemed to have vanished. This made Vilyric a bit disappointed, as she wanted to figure out where that girl had gotten that notebook from.

In this situation, there wasn’t really any time to look for her.

The bang guy’s state couldn’t be considered good; he had a deep wound on his back from a sharp object that was bleeding profusely, and there were numerous other gunshot wounds on other parts of his body. This made Vilyric feel a bit puzzled.

The other injuries were whatever, but the wound on his back was clearly the worst. Though deep, it was narrow. If the guy with bangs kept trying to fight while bleeding out, he wouldn’t last long.

But that wound… obviously, it wasn’t caused by the blond guy on the opposite side; the caliber didn’t match that gun, and how could one even hit a spot on the back like that…

Hey, don’t tell me it’s going to be that cliched.

However, it seemed there was no need for Vilyric to step in to help; by the time they arrived, the battle was basically reaching its end.

It wasn’t that a winner had been decided, but for some reason, at the sound of a whistle, those who had been entangled with the adventurers suddenly stopped all at once. They threw a few smoke bombs at their feet, and amidst the rising smoke, they fled without looking back.

The only exception was the blond man who was battling the bang guy.

“Whoa?!”

The smoke came quickly and left quickly. Seeing that his comrades had completely sold him out without hesitation, this guy was clearly caught off guard, and in that moment of distraction, he exposed his fatal flaw.

“Bryce!!!”

The guy with bangs roared heart-rendingly, like a fierce tiger dropping down from the sky. He cleaved the gun the man was desperately trying to block with his sword and plunged the dilapidated, scarred two-handed sword straight into the man’s chest, sending blood flying everywhere!

“Pfft! You, you guys…”

The man named Bryce was thrust backward by the tremendous force contained in the sword, and blood gushed out, quickly staining him a crimson color.

He looked extremely unwilling, a mixture of disbelief and resentment.

He opened his mouth, as if trying to say something, but it was clear Bryce was just an ordinary human, with strength only slightly higher than that of the guy with bangs, if even that. In a few seconds, the sword that pierced through his chest and heart was enough to take his life.

“Thud.”

The man pulled out the sword, and with that, another man collapsed, never to rise again.

Wow, that was splendid.

Of course, I’m not referring to the battle.

Well, having watched the grand performance, it was time to get back to business.

The Priestess walked toward the swordsman who stood silently, staring at Bryce’s corpse that refused to close its eyes, not treating his own wounds, not knowing what kind of cool act he was trying to put on, when halfway through, they were surrounded by adventurers who had lost their enemy.

She was just about to say something when she caught sight of a somewhat familiar face in the crowd.

“Eh? You are…”

It was a kind-looking man in his forties, a priest. Vilyric recognized him; this person seemed to also be a member of the Black Knight Mercenary Corps, a teammate of the bang guy’s squad.

Back in the Demon Town Adventurers’ Guild, he had tried to dissuade the hotheaded young man looking for a fight, and it seemed he was the one who went to find the leader, Lester.

So, upon closer inspection, it appeared that when those few adventurers were with the bang guy, they all were in the crowd after all. It’s just that the Priestess had a shallow impression of them, so she didn’t remember immediately.

So these guys were actually under Uncle Lester?

“Miss, do you know me? I’m not sure about the two of you…”

Although Vilyric recognized him, she was wearing the Cognitive Obstruction Mask when entering the underground black market. Clearly, the priest hadn’t managed to do the same. Although he was slightly taken aback by the black-haired girl’s sudden greeting, there was still a hint of caution in his eyes.

After all, this was the territory of the underworld, and neither Vilyric nor Little Dragon Daughter were wearing adventurer badges. While they appeared harmless, how simple could it be for someone to freely walk in a place like this?
