Chapter 374
Chapter 5: Stirring Trouble? Stirring Trouble!
In the end, Miss Vilyric agreed to Tilysha’s request.
Among the group, Tilysha was the weakest in strength. Although Xi Fu Lin taught her some abilities, they were mostly geared towards rituals, self-preservation, or healing. The little girl’s foundation was lacking, and in direct combat, she probably couldn’t even handle enemies of the Mithril or Gold-tier.
Originally, Miss Vilyric was uneasy about letting her go out alone and intended to have Edwina accompany her. With the Priestess along, it would certainly be less worrisome; adding another person wouldn’t be too much trouble.
After finding a decent inn nearby and booking three double rooms, everyone headed out on their own.
Leila, Renée, and Edwina wandered around as Miss Vilyric suggested, enjoying the local culture while gathering some intel. Meanwhile, the Priestess took her pet and made a beeline for the adventurers’ guild in Demon Town with Tilysha.
“Owow! So big! So magnificent!”
Upon entering, the little village girl exclaimed in wonder, catching the attention of several passersby, while Miss Vilyric unhesitatingly stepped aside, looking like she didn’t know this girl at all.
However, Tilysha showed no intent to let it slide, immediately grabbing the Priestess’s hand, bouncing around and pointing everywhere in a state of excitement and amazement.
“Miss Vilyric! Is the adventurers’ guild all this amazing?! It’s even bigger than Miss Philena’s embassy, and it’s super lively! I’ve never seen so many people walking around!”
“… There’s one thing I must correct you on, the embassy isn’t Philena’s. She just manages it temporarily. Plus… calm down a bit. A lot of people are watching…”
The Giant Dragon, standing on the other side, shot a sharp gaze at the hands the two girls were holding, causing Tilysha, who had lingering psychological shadows, to stiffen up and realize her rudeness, quickly loosening her grip on the Priestess’s soft and delicate hand.
“I-I’m so sorry! I-I got carried away…”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. It’s your first time, I can understand. Honestly, this level… isn’t that impressive.”
Miss Vilyric waved her hand helplessly. While the adventurers’ guild in Demon Town was indeed quite large, at least three times bigger than a second-tier city like Flame Dragon City, it still felt a bit shabby compared to the headquarters in the City of Courage. There were only a handful of counters, completely unable to compare to the grand scene of thousands gathering there.
However, even though Miss Vilyric was just casually saying this because she had experienced something more impressive, to some local adventurers, especially after they had intentionally made a loud entrance, it naturally seemed… like they were looking for trouble.
And adventurers, of all professions, are known for their short tempers and their readiness to cause a scene.
“Hey, hey, hey! I don’t like hearing that! You little girl who hasn’t even sprouted fully, small in stature, but big in attitude, just like that… Do you even know this guild is the biggest and strongest gathering place for adventurers in the entire northern kingdom? Even the legendary adventurer team, the Grim Reaper’s Scythe, is stationed here. What do you think you are?”
“…?”
Suddenly, from behind, a mocker emerged—a young man in light armor, a great sword hanging on his back. He looked to be in his twenties, with the kingdom’s iconic black short hair styled into bangs that covered one eye and much of his face. He was quite handsome, but his face bore a slightly aggressive smirk.
Unlike the Wasteland, the adventurers’ guild in the United Kingdom didn’t have the chaotic structure of catering and other nonsense; it was a straightforward operational place. Thus, guys lazing around had no business here.
This man with bangs was the same; he, along with his dirty companions, bore signs of recent commissions, likely just returned from a quest and waiting in line.
He mocked the Priestess, but instead of getting angry, her first reaction was confusion.
Who the hell is this guy…? He sounds like someone about to get slapped or put to rest…
This low-level provocation sparked no desire in Miss Vilyric to respond or teach him a lesson; she merely flicked a dismissive glance at the bangs and prepared to move positions, dragging Tilysha along.
Unexpectedly, he dared to take a step further, interpreting her movement as nervousness, and boldly blocked the three girls’ path.
“Hey, hey, where are you running off to? Weren’t you just being all cocky? ‘Just like that’? I really don’t get it; these days have really changed. What with those upper crust folks, and now even a few kiddos dare to step on our adventurers’ guild, I…”
“Alright, alright, Cyril, are you really going to nitpick over a few little girls talking back? Didn’t you see that green-haired girl’s reaction when she walked in? She’s obviously a newbie. If you keep this up, Team Leader Lester will give you a hard time again.”
An older man, seemingly in his forties, with a charitable expression and a Holy Emblem hanging on his chest, could no longer stand it. He stepped in front of Cyril while trying to soothe him, secretly waving to Miss Vilyric and the others, signaling them to hurry off.
However, the Priestess didn’t intend to leave just yet. Although she didn’t want to bother arguing with a troublesome fool, it didn’t mean Miss Vilyric would repeatedly tolerate such behavior or fear conflicts.
Not to mention the name that this priest uncle just mentioned…
Looking around, due to the commotion and argument, many bystanders had already noticed this side, whispering or pointing, while several uniformed staff members were swiftly arriving from a distance.
Well… they’re quite prompt.
Hmm…
Miss Vilyric originally intended to reveal her identity as a legendary adventurer or, if she wanted to be low-key, use Xiao Guang or Edwina’s Sky-level authority to check the recent quest directory, hoping to find some useful clues.
It’s a cliché, but it indeed works well.
But now… she came up with a rather interesting idea, which would not only make it easier to gather information but also provide an opportunity to verify if her assumptions were correct.
So, the Priestess gave a signal to her two companions, especially the Little Dragon Daughter, to stay calm, then boldly walked up to where the bangs and priest uncle were arguing, ignoring Tilysha’s wide eyes in disbelief behind her, intentionally placing her hands on her hips, standing in a way that was both willful and domineering.
“Hey, you’re still panting when I can’t even be bothered to deal with you? This place is pretty mediocre anyway. So what? You’re weak and can’t take others’ critiques? Come on, say it! If you disagree, come and fight me, you idiot~”
After snickering, the black-haired girl stuck her tiny pink tongue out and made a face, adding to her already small and youthful frame, making her look all the more brazen.
“You xx!!!”
“Hey! Little girl, what are you doing?!”
Hehe, perfect! He’s getting all riled up!
