Chapter 360

Chapter 165: Morning

When we returned to the city, the chaos that had been apparent during the divine manifestation had mostly subsided. It mainly stemmed from Xi Fu being sealed; those unfortunate souls parasitized by the withering power had also fainted, leading to an effortless victory.

As usual, I recalled the 【Eternal Shielding Light】, which had remained behind only for lighting purposes after the dead fog vanished, allowing the Sky Island to return to the cover of night. Miss Vilyric directly returned to the envoy’s residence in the United Kingdom, casually dropping the half-dragon, who had been knocked unconscious and wouldn’t awaken for quite some time, right at the embassy’s entrance.

Although she had returned directly to the Sky City via the 【Invisible Spatial Portal】 from the southern part of the Wasteland, that remote area was not suitable, or rather, lacked the value to place a formation disk. Due to leaving the portal behind, Miss Vilyric could not return the same way.

However, with the destruction of the magic island, the Abyss Worms had been dealt with by Sigried and the others, and there was no real threat left on the main battlefield. As long as we waited for the fronts to converge and wiped out the remaining stray Abyss Beasts, we could likely bring the situation to a complete end.

Renée, Leila and the others were over there assisting, comprising a solid force of seven legendary beings to ensure everything went smoothly.

The trickiest enemies had been handled by the Priestess, so she couldn’t be bothered with the remaining trivial matters. Instead, she simply took a quick shower and dragged her pet along to bed for some sleep.

……

Perhaps it was because she had put one concern to rest, but Miss Vilyric slept quite soundly and didn’t get out of bed until nearly 9 AM the next morning.

The Little Dragon Daughter remained curled up beside her, softly snoring. Although last night’s divine battle hadn’t been too taxing on her, dragons had a tendency to restore their energy through sleep after a fight. If they truly wanted to sleep, they wouldn’t be counting hours, so it was perfectly normal for her to still be unconscious.

The God of Sky statue hosting Xi Fu Lin was right there on the table, while the newly accredited Life Goddess sat nearby, flipping through the unfinished novel Miss Vilyric had left, looking rather engrossed.

Without needing to speak, she could sense the awakening of the Priestess, turning with a warm smile while casually gesturing towards the door.

Getting the hint, Miss Vilyric gently moved her long tail aside and followed Xi Fu Lin as she made her way to the entrance.

By the way, although Xi Fu Lin was still attached to the statue, her manifested form could now walk and interact like a normal being. So it looked… rather peculiar, as if a person were dragging a turquoise statue tail behind them.

As soon as they stepped outside, the Priestess couldn’t help but comment.

“I say, when are you planning to come out of that thing? Could it be you’ve gotten addicted to living in it?”

Xi Fu Lin leaned back against the wall, arms crossed with a smile.

“Don’t rush me; the seal is actually optional for me now. I can leave whenever I want. It’s just that fully reconstructing my body will take some time, and this seal is one of the few remaining things left by Minerva… Speaking of which, remember yesterday when I mentioned I had an idea? You still have the withering seal in your hands, right?”

“Of course! What other crazy ideas do you have now?”

Casually reaching into her bag, Miss Vilyric pulled out the pocket-sized sealing crystal she had shrunk down and waved it in front of Xi Fu Lin.

Not answering right away, the Life Goddess watched curiously as the black-haired girl reached into the void to retrieve it, before asking thoughtfully.

“What kind of spatial magic is this? How do you store items directly without a medium? Even a god’s private special space should only hold items closely related to their existence, right?”

“Huh?”

Miss Vilyric’s hand paused for a moment.

“Is this method really that rare? I thought all you godly folks could casually do similar things.”

Like a patient teacher, Xi Fu Lin softly explained.

“Well, we can, but I just mentioned that a medium is required. Otherwise, in this chaotic and vast other space, even a god would find it impossible to pinpoint where their stored items are located instantly; they’re not the God of Space.”

“Eh? There really is a God of Space? What’s that like? What level of deity are they?”

Seemingly accustomed to Miss Vilyric’s topic jumps, the goddess rested her chin on her hand, thinking for a moment.

“There is… They are indeed quite powerful, a neutral camp deity of the highest order. However, just as their title suggests, this god is rather elusive. They vanished many thousands of years ago for reasons unknown, even among the gods, very few are aware of their existence.”

“So mysterious…?”

The Life Goddess chuckled casually and glanced at the golden crystal seal in Miss Vilyric’s hand.

“Indeed, your ability to retrieve items from thin air is somewhat reminiscent of that deity’s methods. However, your divine spark is light, clearly not space… Oh well, back to business. Regarding the withering seal, I intend to change the previous approach and no longer break it into many pieces, but rather directly suppress it with some powerful creature, keeping a close eye on it to ensure nothing goes wrong.”

“A powerful creature?”

Tilting her head curiously, Miss Vilyric questioned.

“Can’t you just keep it with me? Don’t you trust me, Xi Fu Lin? Oh wow, turning into a goddess, and you start to act all cold, huh? What a heartbreaker! Boo-hoo…”

“Quit messing around and be serious…”

The goddess facepalmed, lightly flicking the smooth forehead of the black-haired girl, causing her to exclaim, “Ouch!” before Xi Fu Lin regained her composure.

“It’s not that I don’t trust you, but with something like a seal, various problems can arise due to environmental changes. It’s not suitable to carry it around everywhere, especially since this is a complete divine spark. No matter how high the sealing level, it can’t maintain itself forever. Therefore, we need a living seal that can grow to suppress it, just to be safe. What do you think?”

“If you say so, then that’s how it is…”

In fact, just as Xi Fu Lin had guessed, although the name of the 10th-level spell 【Prison of Eternal Captivity】 contained the word “eternal,” it couldn’t sustain itself by autonomously absorbing external magic like the 【Eternal Shielding Light】. Its strength mainly lied in powerful sealing and suppressive force.

If no supplements were provided, it was likely to be breached eventually, even if that might take several hundred years; it would still be a headache.

“Also, I don’t know how Minerva initially sealed the abyss world’s connection to this realm, but it clearly wasn’t complete and has suffered damage over the millennia. The 【Doomsday Cannon】 crossing over confirms this.”

“While this world currently rejects beings from the Aibus world, blocking their arbitrary entrance, considering the disaster of the God-Made Beasts and that previous incident, I believe it’s necessary to fully seal the pathways between the two sides. This can conveniently be accomplished with the living seal I mentioned earlier, killing two birds with one stone.”

“So… What exactly is this living seal you’ve been talking about since just now, Xi Fu Lin?”

Upon hearing this, the goddess smiled slightly, showing an eager expression.

“Great question! Remember the seed I gave you back then?”
