Chapter 310
Chapter 115: The Encounter with the Fragrance of Flowers
The Priestess was somewhat surprised.
Although she had just momentarily spaced out due to a surge of emotions and hadn’t been particularly vigilant, even her level 110 divine body’s sensory abilities should have detected a mere ordinary person well before they got within a few meters.
How had she not noticed when this girl had approached her?
If she weren’t holding some high-tier stealth item, then this person must be exceptionally strong, at least far beyond the caliber of those legendary sky dwellers.
Vilyric glanced at the other girl again.
Like the Priestess, she was leaning against the railing by the corridor’s window, her long, white wings folded neatly behind her. She wore a light, casual sky-blue dress that barely counted as formal, her body neither plump nor thin, boasting a perfectly balanced and natural beauty accentuated by her curves.
Even from just her profile, one could tell that she was undoubtedly a striking beauty, with a pure and natural aura, complemented by the faint fragrance that perpetually emanated from her. It felt like encountering a pure and unblemished ice mountain snow lotus or a snow-white bird soaring through the skies.
“What’s the matter? Did my sudden appearance startle you? My apologies… I’m not used to interacting with people, so…”
The girl turned her head, her clear, sky-like gaze meeting the Priestess’s silvery-blue eyes, and then, as if remembering something, she averted her eyes shyly.
If this continued, she might leave.
A thought suddenly sprang to Vilyric’s mind, and without hesitation, she seized this fortuitous meeting and extended a friendly gesture to the mysterious girl drawn in by a line of poetry not from this world.
“It’s okay, I don’t mind. That comment was… let’s just say it’s a sort of poetry from my hometown. Being from a remote place, it’s normal that you wouldn’t know it.”
“Is that so? How interesting! Even without a melody, it sounds like singing. I didn’t expect to come across something so novel during this outing; the world is indeed vast.”
The girl, seemingly oblivious, continued to praise without asking Vilyric for her name or introducing herself.
After finishing, she blinked her innocent, untainted eyes and glanced at the black-haired girl beside her, appearing slightly curious.
“You… are quite special. You’re the first person I’ve met that I couldn’t see through at all. Even that other person… Little girl, you must not be human, right?”
L-little girl?
The Priestess couldn’t help but twitch her mouth slightly.
She admitted that this body did indeed look petite and could easily be mistaken for an underage individual. Even Fleidetrika had previously asked her if she could drink…
But this girl—this very girl—couldn’t be all that much older, could she!?
Cough, alright, maybe in some aspects she was indeed a bit older, but Vilyric absolutely could not tolerate being called “sister” by someone who looked like they were barely twenty!
“…Call me Vilyric. Just as you guessed, I’m not human. However, before you dig deeper, mysterious miss, shouldn’t you at least reveal your name to me? I can’t keep calling you ‘you’ or ‘hey,’ right?”
In response to the Priestess’s slightly defensive retort, the girl didn’t get angry but instead showed a hint of embarrassment.
“Sorry, for certain reasons, I can’t tell you my name. If it’s not too much trouble, you can call me Tira.”
“Tira?”
“Yes, it’s Tira. There’s a kind of flower in our country that shares that name, so now we’ve exchanged titles. Now, can you tell me what race you belong to, Vilyric?”
Seeing the girl who called herself Tira continue to pry, Vilyric suddenly had some mischievous thoughts and casually turned her head to point at the pure March sky.
“Okay, okay, I’m of the divine race. Is that satisfactory?”
“Eh?”
Somehow, Tira’s reaction was more subdued than she had expected. After the mild surprise at first, she quickly burst into laughter, clearly treating Vilyric’s previous statement as a joke.
The Priestess felt a bit helpless.
“You see? You wanted to ask but don’t believe me, which is why I didn’t want to answer.”
Tira pressed her moist, soft lips together, looking like she was trying to suppress laughter, but she seemed to find Vilyric’s earlier comment amusing rather than mocking.
“Alright, alright, then what brings our little divine miss from afar to Feather? Are you perhaps looking to develop your cult and followers here? Just so you know, we’ve got visitors who came first!”
“So why add the little part…”
Since the other girl clearly didn’t believe her, Vilyric decided to slightly modify her intentions and straight-up mentioned, “I’m specifically here to greet the God of Sky and Freedom,” directly revealing this to Tira.
She wasn’t sure why she suddenly chose to do this. She merely felt this identity-less Tira was quite interesting.
Just as Tira seemed very interested in her, Vilyric was equally curious about this suddenly appearing mysterious girl with white wings—an experiment of sorts.
However, upon hearing the “little divine miss’s purpose,” Tira burst into laughter.
“Haha, haha!”
“What are you laughing at?”
Vilyric was a bit perplexed. Even if she genuinely thought Tira was just being silly, that reaction was over the top! Anyone else would probably find her impolite or awkwardly leave.
The delightful laughter continued for quite a while. Tira eventually calmed down, patting the black-haired girl’s head as if soothing a child. The faint yet undeniable scent enveloped Vilyric, leaving her momentarily stunned.
“Little Vilyric, I don’t know who you are, and since you’re not willing to share, I won’t press you. However, if you’ve come seeking the God due to admiration, I’d advise you to give up on that.”
“Uh? Why?”
Initially annoyed by Tira’s sudden action and still somewhat dazed by that familiar scent, Vilyric frowned and snapped back to her previous mental state.
This Tira surely knew something—was she perhaps a higher-up of the White Wings… the Free Wings?
Yet when it came to pivotal questions, Tira regretfully shook her head again.
“Apologies, but I can only say this much. I can tell, little Vilyric, that you must be hiding many secrets; you’re quite special. If you truly insist on finding the God, perhaps we will meet again in the future. Unfortunately, tonight, this is all I can say.”
“Are you leaving just like that?”
The Priestess turned her head to evade Tira’s restless hand that was reaching to pat her on the head, and upon seeing Tira’s sorrowful expression, she could only helplessly utter a phrase after thinking for a long time.
“Next time, please don’t add ‘little’ before my title. Thank you.”
With no response, Vilyric gazed toward the distant, tower-like spire extending into the clouds. When she looked back, the girl had vanished, leaving only a faint fragrance behind.
“Ah, I remember now.”
This was the scent of that flower from the Fragrance Pavilion.
