Chapter 300
Chapter One Hundred and Five: Waaaah!!!
Not far outside the Wing Emperor Palace, in a deserted alley, a figure dressed in white robes with black hair suddenly “whoosh” appeared as if performing a magic trick.
“Waaaah, this is really embarrassing! I knew that broken thing wasn’t reliable!”
The great, noble, and powerful Priestess was now scratching her head like a monkey that had just been spanked, hugging her head in pure shame.
She had boldly assured Philena, saying, “Don’t worry, I will definitely not be discovered,” only to be caught red-handed spying and ended up in a brawl, fleeing in disgrace. This incident could easily be recorded in the “Black History Compilation of Miss Vilyric” and would become a top-secret matter she must keep sealed.
So embarrassing, it’s just too embarrassing.
Fortunately, no one should know it was her.
The reason that strange silver glow, which scanned her out of the invisibility granted by the “Chameleon Cloak,” seemed to stick to her was likely to prevent the detected from re-entering an invisible state and escaping.
But the “Chameleon Cloak” is junk that reveals itself the moment combat begins, so after being hit by those two flying knives from that little Mo, the invisible state had actually already disappeared when the “Feather Garment: Glareya” activated its defense.
That excessively bright glow covering her appearance ironically became Vilyric’s last layer of modesty.
“Truly… a fortunate misfortune! Otherwise, setting aside the impact on my future plans, if this got out to Edwina and the others who haven’t left yet… Waaah, it’s better to flee to Mars overnight!”
Not to mention that Edwina had inexplicably used her name before to give the Wing Emperor a good hard hit.
But… when exactly was she discovered? She hadn’t sensed anything at all; those guys were way too good at pretending, not showing a single change in their expressions!
It felt like it had to do with that silver-winged old man or perhaps some large magic circle covering that area under his control.
If there was anything capable of uncovering a holy artifact-level equipment that required 7th-tier detection magic to notice, it could only be a pre-set magic formation. Given the sensation when engaging, neither Wing Emperor Aistini nor that old man should be able to release 7th-tier magic alone.
“Sigh… Hopefully, I didn’t slip any detail.”
The black-haired girl glanced at the bizarre priest staff in her hand with rabbit ears and lightly brushed her left hand over it. Soon, the weapon reverted to the basic appearance of the “Eternal Staff: Heart of the World.”
Rubbing her beloved weapon against her face, Vilyric spoke with an apologetic tone.
“Sorry, old buddy, I’ve put you through some trouble.”
The holy staff flickered slightly, seemingly responding to its master, as the artifact itself bore a considerable degree of intelligence.
The Priestess’s Holy Light series skills were far too conspicuous; once used, it was no different from self-destructing. To keep her presence hidden, she could only respond with techniques that anyone could use or ones where the principles weren’t apparent.
For example, a small skill she mimicked from the mysterious person during the Omoland War, likely using Soul Power to interfere and temporarily hinder flying creatures from maintaining their levitation.
Or simply fighting in a physical way.
However, this weapon Vilyric was used to—many like Sigrid had seen it—led to her sudden inspiration to temporarily alter the appearance of the “Eternal Staff: Heart of the World” through a seldom-used technique called “Weapon Transformation.”
As for that strange shape… cough, one can’t blame her because Vilyric had hardly ever recorded any transformed shapes; this was obtained after being forced into the game’s previous events.
“Though it’s fine against rookies, that strike from the Wing Emperor earlier was just shy of reaching the seventh tier; it’s definitely hard to wipe someone out just relying on a physical collision from an artifact… After all, it’s a staff and not a melee weapon.”
“No, it’s not the weapon’s issue; it’s probably my own fighting skills being too rusty. Rebecca was the same back then… Hmm… should I find a place to learn specially in the future? But my attribute inclination…”
Just as the black-haired girl muttered to herself about random thoughts, a powerful light and aura rapidly projected from the central city’s “Temple of Sky,” rushing toward the Wing Emperor Palace she had just left.
Perhaps because of some anxiety, the other party made no effort to conceal themselves; even from here, Vilyric could sense the immense energy within that radiant mass.
She gazed up and looked slightly astonished.
“Pseudo-God…? Such a strong pseudo-god, feeling like… probably around lv80, the Winged People actually have this level of expert around? Who the heck are they… wait a minute…”
It must be the high priest inside the temple, the current God’s Priestess that Sigrid mentioned before.
It seemed that there was a saying that the God’s Priestess chosen by the God of Sky could receive divine protection, possessing power far beyond all mortals, second only to true deities.
Now it seems that was no exaggeration.
Good thing she ran fast; if she had collided with that seemingly powerful high priest, she would have probably been exposed for sure.
Since even the priests could possess such strength, it seemed the God of Sky Minerva’s level was at least lv90 or more… Truly cautious actions weren’t wrong.
But… does this divine blessing from the God’s Priestess come without any cost?
Vilyric was somewhat curious.
At least from Sigrid’s oddly cautious attitude when mentioning the matter, this job probably wasn’t as pleasant as imagined.
If there’s a chance, she’d inquire further.
Taking the little Dragon Daughter, whom she had temporarily sent back to her pet space for minimizing unexpected occurrences and uncontrollable factors due to her infiltration, out, Vilyric explained the situation briefly, and the two decided to return to the embassy first.
With such obvious commotion occurring at the Wing Emperor Palace, the surrounding guards and residents weren’t blind, and surely had seen everything clearly.
On the way back, the administrative district was noticeably chaotic, with red-feathered Winged soldiers running around while people peered about trying to decipher what was happening.
However, the skies above the Wing Emperor Palace were a no-fly zone, and any trespassers were treated like assassins, so the numerous confused onlookers could only gather around, whispering and trying to pry for information.
Upon seeing these folks, the Priestess couldn’t help but recall the embarrassing incident that had happened recently, forcing her to stiffen her resolve and take her pet’s little hand briskly away.
She really didn’t want to deal with the nonsense here anymore.
Let it be, let it be.
For now, she’d wait until this embarrassing storm passed before thinking of what to do.
