Chapter 84: The Sustained Life

Sigrid, as an upper-level member of the Free Wings and one of the legendary Four Wings, had an exceptionally resilient will. Although she had been thrown into a state of confusion due to the chaotic situation, she quickly regained her composure.

“You’re right. The reinforcements haven’t arrived, and the situation over there isn’t optimistic either. Every moment we delay… could cost hundreds or thousands of lives. Vilyric didn’t mind; she had already secretly taken the most valuable parts from the Abyss Worm’s remains, so the remaining limbs and tail could be handled by the Winged People themselves.

Thus, after leaving behind four or five Winged warriors who had been injured and were unsuitable for rapid movement, Vilyric and Xiao Guang joined Sigrid to rush towards the battlefield at the center of Omoland.

However, when they arrived at the small lake at the center of the island, they discovered that the battle was already over.

On the lakeside lay the corpses of magical beasts and Abyss Beasts, along with several fallen Winged People. However, the remains of their side had already been moved to the rear of the battlefield, so this was likely only a fraction of the true casualties. The actual losses were expected to be far more than what was visible.

It wasn’t that no magical beasts or Winged People had been consumed; it was just that those who were eaten were nowhere to be seen now.

Strange-looking magical beasts and humanoid monsters were moving about, cleaning up the fragmented remains on the battlefield and disposing of the bodies left by the Abyss Beasts. The Winged warriors brought by Sigrid were among them, yet their numbers had clearly decreased by almost half.

Of course, those remaining weren’t necessarily all dead. When Vilyric had checked with her Soul Network earlier, she noted that a considerable number of Winged People had not made it to the battlefield for various reasons and were still scattered across the island.

Even so, the casualty rate was astonishing, and Vilyric even glimpsed several dull, lifeless forms among those who had lost their breath.

In reality, given the strength of this group of Winged warriors, the losses should not have been this severe. The sudden fall had injured many of their most vital wings, drastically reducing their mobility, and with their formation disrupted, Sigrid as their commander had to face the Abyss Worm. These various factors combined had led to this current situation.

Edwina, Leila, and Renée were huddled together discussing something, and Philena along with other Kingdom elites were nearby; they seemed to have suffered little in terms of casualties, with only a few sustaining non-fatal injuries.

Among them was Miss Philena Trelop, who had her left arm wrapped in a white bandage.

Upon seeing Vilyric and the others appear from the sky, a few sharp-eyed girls immediately waved excitedly at them. Vilyric promptly descended.

Sigrid immediately took her team to handle the aftermath, while Vilyric found she had little to do. Although there were many injured here, it was not critical enough to require her special healing.

“You all did quite well to resolve the battle this quickly?”

Shaking off her shoulders and retracting the noticeable white wings behind her, Vilyric casually glanced around.

There were about two hundred Abyss Beasts here, which was basically all she had seen on the island before. In addition to the initial beetle types, there were seven or eight other types of Abyss Beasts with clear differences. From them, the Priestess could discern traces of insects or wild beasts.

If she had to describe it, it resembled monsters mutated by a zombie virus from apocalypse comics on Blue Star.

“Actually, we didn’t completely finish the battle. These Abyss Beasts, as Miss Vilyric described, are very hard to kill. So, the overall situation in the Kingdom of Azure is likely a force made up entirely of Winged people, in a mixed alliance represented by various races and led by the Sky King.
