Chapter 270
Chapter Seventy-Five: The Eyes Overlooking the Mortal Realm
This was Vilyric’s first attempt to spread the sp, representing Soul Power, over such a vast area.
From her center, the entire Omoland suddenly came into view.
The Sea of Souls surged and roared, an infinite power bursting forth from her body; the girl felt not the slightest inadequacy but instead an exhilarating satisfaction and elation.
She saw everything, nothing could hide from this formless and intangible Soul Network—every inch of sky, every blade of grass and tree, all became the girl’s eyes.
Like a God overlooking all beings.
If it were someone else, they would likely be overjoyed by the boundless control and transcendence, inevitably giving rise to an inner arrogance. Yet Vilyric did not feel such a thing.
Although it was her first time experiencing this feeling, after the initial moment, the girl’s heart did not stir much. It felt as though this was only natural, an expected sensation—she was meant to be like this, it should have been so.
Instead, she found calm within herself.
For an instant, her perspective seemed to ascend into the vast void, where she saw the rotating stars and the sun and moon; the six celestial bodies circled in her palm. But before the girl could take a closer look, the ephemeral scene shattered like a soap bubble, and the Priestess’s viewpoint returned to her front.
“……”
Slowly opening her closed eyes, before Vilyric could sort out her thoughts, she was a bit surprised to find that the people who had originally gathered around her were now scattering outward for some reason, creating some distance. Only the Little Dragon Daughter stood firm behind her.
Philena approached with a peculiar expression.
“……Miss Vilyric, what exactly were you doing just now?”
“?”
The Black-haired Girl tilted her head with indifference.
“I was just checking the surrounding situation in my own way. Did something happen? You all look strange.”
Vilyric knew that, due to the level difference, when she activated the mental network, the living beings within the covered area would feel as though they were being watched by a high existence.
Although she wasn’t clear on what exactly that experience felt like, based on her previous experience, as long as one stood by Vilyric, they shouldn’t be too affected.
That was why she had specifically asked Philena to call everyone back.
Because they were already within the Priestess’s line of sight, it was akin to being in the eye of a tornado, a concept that would instead provide a safe zone.
Something like that.
But judging by Philena and the others’ expressions, it was clearly not what Vilyric had anticipated.
“How should I put this… While I’m not quite sure what happened, there was a moment when I suddenly felt an overwhelming dread and reverence, as if being near Miss Vilyric—or even looking at you—was a great offense; there was some indescribable power that forced me to step back.”
Seemingly feeling her description was too vague, Philena hesitated and added.
“It felt a bit like standing before His Majesty in the court, but also different… It’s hard to explain, sorry, I was a bit confused at the time, but that’s roughly it.”
What a mess…
Even if Philena offered such a metaphor, Vilyric could only find it nonsensical. Was it some kind of information pollution again? But that shouldn’t count as high-level magic; it was just a simple application of sp.
“What about now?”
“Now there’s nothing. That feeling only appeared for a moment, Miss Vilyric…”
“Alright, let’s not dwell on this.”
The Priestess raised her hand to interrupt the discussion about the matter. Perhaps what Philena mentioned was related to the scene she had vaguely seen earlier, but in the current state of complete confusion, discussing it further would be pointless.
Turning to look at the group, which had gathered again but appeared slightly strange, Vilyric pointed in a direction.
“This way, straight ahead. Over seventy percent of the Winged People squad is concentrated there, cooperating with the remaining residents of Omoland to fight against the Abyss Beasts. There are about two hundred enemies. I asked Edwina and Renée to accompany you; it’s perfect for flanking from the rear and catching the enemy off guard.”
“Huh? Is Miss Vilyric going to act alone?”
Without needing a hint, Philena immediately caught the undertone in the Priestess’s words.
“Well…”
The Black-haired Girl smiled.
“From the intelligence I just sensed, the strength of this batch of Abyss Beasts is not as high as when I first encountered them. While Omoland itself may not be able to handle them, with the help of those Winged People plus your support, it should be enough; at least, we won’t lose quickly.”
“What’s more troublesome now is that Abyss Worm. If I’m correct, all the Abyss Beasts on the island must have been born recently; Sigrid is dealing with it, but the situation isn’t very optimistic.”
Of course, Vilyric wouldn’t tell Philena that she was primarily interested in that entity capable of producing Abyss Beasts, which was why she decided to leave the main force and explore it for herself.
Philena pondered for a moment and decisively nodded.
“Alright, then let’s proceed as Miss Vilyric suggested; there’s no time to waste, we’ll set off immediately.”
After giving a few brief instructions, Renée, Edwina, and the others left with Philena, heading in the direction the Priestess indicated.
Vilyric wasn’t too worried about their battle situation; after all, they were three legendary beings, along with a group from the land and sky. Just as the Priestess had previously observed, the majority of the bizarre Abyss Beasts on Omoland were far weaker than the bug monsters they had faced in the southern border of the Nobos Ironblood Empire.
Perhaps it was due to the difference in the food they had consumed.
If one didn’t consider their capability to recover swiftly, they likely averaged around the Ink Steel level. If that Abyss Worm was the strongest and invincible “General,” then these Abyss Beasts were more like “Soldiers” meant for mopping up and providing support.
Of course, if they consumed too much food, it would be unpredictable. As it stands, the Abyss creatures were indeed the most troublesome aspect.
Looking up at the dimly lit sky above the dense forest, listening to the distant booming sounds, the Black-haired Girl’s lips curled into a joyful arc.
“Let’s go see what kind of thing that is.”
“Okay, Master.”
Disregarding Philena and the others, Vilyric and the Giant Dragon took straight to the sky, where the enormous worm rampaging across the island soon came into view.
Compared to before, it seemed to be even more agitated, perhaps due to Sigrid and the others’ relentless attacks.
Without needing any more communication, the master and dragon spread their wings and swiftly flew toward their destination.
Though it appeared to be quite far, in this unobstructed sky, for Vilyric, it was just a matter of seconds.
As they neared the battlefield, the dust rising into the air hit them at once, and the air was mixed with the offensive stench of the Abyss Worm.
Vilyric could sense a considerable repulsive force acting on the land, pressing down on the giant worm that continued to twist and writhe in the low air, significantly reducing both its speed and strength.
This was what she had felt on that strange bug—rejection from the world.
Moreover, it was far stronger than that time.
…Legendary Abyss creatures, huh?
