Chapter 165
Chapter 105: Clearing the Path! (Additional Update)
The second level of the celestial prison was entirely different from the top level.
As soon as Vilyric stepped inside, the scenery before her changed dramatically.
If the design of the first level resembled the ancient dungeons of Blue Star, giving her a sense of familiarity, then the second level could be summed up in one word:
Military Base.
Aside from some parts of the floor and walls still made of that black stone, it could almost be called a forest of steel.
Iron walls made of Ink Steel, mechanical arrow towers, iron dolls powered by unknown technology, retractable floors with hidden spikes, and massive swords and hammers hanging from the ceiling, all ready to swing down as traps…
This place was practically turned into an iron fortress, balanced perfectly between offense and defense. Just from what Vilyric could see, there were at least seven or eight types of traps, most of which had taken the lives of one or more invaders.
Naturally, there were plenty of guards as well, and a few bodies dressed in black brocade robes with half-masks. However, thanks to the traps and mechanical dolls, the casualties were significantly lower than on the first level.
What caught Vilyric’s attention was the absence of cells for holding criminals, and there were no more corpses drained of souls; most people had died from straightforward physical or magical damage.
According to intel she tricked out of a group of guards upstairs, the particularly powerful one who had killed many guards and prisoners was likely the so-called “Another Envoy.”
Did he refrain from attacking people here because his power was too depleted? Or was he stopped by some strong individual?
With these questions in mind, Vilyric continued forward with her pet.
Though most traps had already been triggered by previous invaders, thanks to Priestess’s erratic walking style, occasionally poisoned crossbow bolts would suddenly shoot out from blind spots, or large rocks and hammers would drop from above with a loud “thud,” quite unnerving.
However, just before they reached Vilyric, a certain Little Dragon Daughter would swat them away with ease or smash them into pieces.
Following the traces of battle for a long stretch, Vilyric finally heard the sounds of clashing weapons and a rumble of indistinct noises nearby.
Seems like they caught up.
When Xiao Guang arrived at the edge of the battlefield, directly ahead was a narrow entrance that looked hard to defend, where two groups of hundreds were fiercely battling it out.
One side was composed of those peculiar individuals, banding together in small factions of a dozen to several tens, continuously pushing forward with their combined tactics.
The other side consisted of some guards who had retreated from the first level, along with the black-brocade-masked people Vilyric had seen before. They were about equal in number to the attackers and were firmly holding the narrow entrance using the traps inside the second level of the celestial prison.
And that booming sound was the noise of traps being activated continuously.
This must be where the prisoners were held; otherwise, it wouldn’t have been designed with such a unique terrain filled with various traps around.
Notably, among those “Guardians,” there were two exceptionally strong men in silver robes, moving back and forth in the enemy ranks with remarkable might, leaving no one able to match them.
Legendary Level.
Two Legends, willingly guarding such a sunless place, nameless and obscure…
This was indeed one part of the United Kingdom’s hidden true strength.
However, while they were caught in a heated battle, they inadvertently blocked Miss Vilyric’s way, and throughout it all, she never saw that so-called “Envoy.”
Although this group of invaders was strong on average, they lacked peak combat power; their strongest member was merely at the Heaven’s Peak, not even a single Legend among them.
To think they could break through a second level of the celestial prison guarded by at least two established Legends, now that was a bit far-fetched.
Just a mere delay…
“Hah… sneaking around like this isn’t worth it; let’s go all out instead.”
“Got it! I can’t wait any longer, master!”
Hearing this familiar tone, the battle-hungry Little Dragon Daughter immediately understood her master was planning to make her front-line, and she was ready to leap into action.
The Black-haired Girl pointed ahead towards the battlefield.
“This mission is simple: clear a path and send all the blockers flying!”
“Understood! Heh heh, I’m on it!”
With an arrogant smile that spread across her face, the Little Dragon Daughter, no longer holding back, charged like a bolt of golden lightning into the nearest group of enemies, fists at the ready!
Two middle-aged men, bare-chested and wielding massive spears, turned to stab at her instinctively upon her attack.
“Hahaha! A bunch of weaklings!”
Unexpectedly, the Blonde Girl laughed out loud, not dodging or evading, intending to use her tiny, delicate fists, which were even smaller than the spear tips, to clash head-on with finely-honed steel!
“Arrogant!”
The two men, feeling the disdain, shouted simultaneously, their muscular arms glowing with a metallic grey sheen. The sharp spear tips actually split into two, transforming into a peculiar trident, targeting Xiao Guang’s flank!
The Hundred Shadows Spear Technique, a legendary style created by a Transcendent Level Expert, famous in the eastern United Kingdom, capable of converting inner energy into spear light. Those at its peak could unleash hundreds of spears in one instant to strike down foes unseen.
Despite their hurried attempt, they only managed to produce three spear tips, yet if two Heaven’s Peak combatants attacked together, an average practitioner might get killed in one hit due to distraction.
Strong folks have their pride. Even as they insulted her arrogance, upon seeing the girl fight with such indifference, the brothers of the Hundred Shadows Spear increased their vigilance and went all out.
But then…
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Four spear tips aimed at the delicate skin of the Blonde Girl not only failed to leave a scratch but shattered instantly.
Then, with sheer destructive force, those petite fists met the spear tips, shattering two massive spears right in mid-air into useless scraps, stunning the brothers into horror as they were sent flying like cannonballs, sweeping aside at least a dozen people in their path.
Finally crashing into the hard mixed-metal wall, leaving two massive dents, the wielders of the Hundred Shadows technique were dead as can be.
“What the hell! What kind of strength is that?!”
“Don’t go near that blonde woman! Use ranged attacks!”
Amidst the chaotic battlefield, several shouts rang out, but the Little Dragon Daughter didn’t care what those humans were babbling about. After smashing the two men away, she charged ahead, the shockwave from her run blowing away several Guardians who attempted to stop her.
Just as Vilyric had predicted, these guards of the celestial prison would not allow her to approach the deeper prison just because they attacked the invaders. After all, the duty of the “Guardians” was to stop any unauthorized person from entering the dungeon.
Even if the Priestess showed them the Princess’s token, it probably wouldn’t work, because ultimately, Liliya was still just a princess, not a queen.
But it didn’t matter; that just meant more people for her to beat up.
