Chapter 154
Chapter 94: Two Maids
Vilyric felt a bit disoriented.
If that Blood Clan Duchess Julius Constans was talking about a “Wishing Spirit Treasure,” and it was indeed the same thing she knew about, shouldn’t it be somewhere in the Oaken Gorge?
Even if someone did find and take it, the ones present back then were subordinates of the Throne of Immortality, so how did it get tangled up with the Blood Clan?
Moreover, the implications surrounding the “Wishing Spirit Treasure” made Vilyric quite concerned.
After all, a certain swift-blade swordsman had also interacted with this treasure and made wishes using it. If, according to what the Blood Clan claimed, the “Wishing Spirit Treasure” was a divine gift and could only be used by so-called direct descendants, then wouldn’t that mean…
The amount of information was overwhelming, and the Priestess found herself a bit confused.
But now was not the time to slowly study these matters; that Julius was about to take the Blood Clan’s Little Loli Lucini and some old man, who was likely also a prince, into a secret discussion. Vilyric faced two options.
Option 1: Ignore them and continue wandering around the estate, hoping to uncover other intel.
Option 2: Follow them and eavesdrop on what was obviously a plan targeting a certain princess.
…Although she didn’t know why the one setting the trap had brought her here to witness the Blood Clan’s scheme, from the current perspective, it seemed to be having a positive effect.
After all, previously, even Vilyric hadn’t expected this political strife to involve long-hidden races like the Blood Clan.
However, in truth, given the current situation, following them wasn’t the best option.
Maybe it was just a feeling, but that Blood Clan loli princess named Lucini had probably already noticed her presence.
She remembered that a certain mouse had mentioned that the Blood Clan was very sensitive to the flow of life force within living beings. The vampire that once easily inflicted a heavy blow to it had revealed the hidden presence of Plakaka using such a method.
In terms of stealth, Vilyric wasn’t much better than Plakaka, so it was indeed likely that the Blood Clan’s highest-ranking prince would be able to see through her invisibility.
Or perhaps, the “Dawn of Blood” equipment belonging to Afra could be sensed by Lucini, who had a clear connection with her.
Although the methods displayed by the other side weren’t threatening to the Priestess at this moment, she hadn’t forgotten that there was still an invisible hand subtly manipulating the chessboard from behind the scenes.
Maybe it was also part of the plan for the Blood Clan to find her after she entered this place and create a mutually destructive conflict.
Well… maybe the idea of a mutual downfall was a bit excessive, but being led around by someone else was always unpleasant.
And if there was anything in this place that mattered to Vilyric more than the secret discussions of those high-ranking Blood Clan members…
It would be the direction indicated by the “Dawn of Blood” in her hand.
After contacting Lucini, the vague information from the brooch suddenly changed, no longer pointing to the Blood Clan prince but instead shifting upwards, resonating with a certain spot high in the building.
It was decided.
No matter how capable that person in the shadows was, they couldn’t possibly know that Vilyric held the “Dawn of Blood,” so following the brooch’s guidance would surely exceed their expectations.
With her mind made up, Vilyric stopped looking at the several Blood Clan members who had just entered a room on the first floor and, under the cover of the “Chameleon Cloak,” began to ascend the spiral staircase.
…
Upon getting upstairs, she discovered that the overall style and shape of this manor were more like a cone than a barrel.
The higher she went, the smaller the circular corridor became, and the number of rooms decreased accordingly…
By the time she reached the highest fifth floor, only about one-tenth of the rooms remained, roughly six in total, with several doors facing each other, seemingly forming a strange hexagram shape.
This design was definitely not arbitrary.
But for a moment, Vilyric couldn’t quite put her finger on what was off about it.
Perhaps it was because all the Blood Clan were gathered in the hall on the lowest level that this floor, like the previous ones, had no guards. Although the doors were locked, to be honest, as long as no one was watching, this level of security was hardly a challenge for Vilyric.
After effortlessly picking the lock using a physical method, the Priestess stepped into one of the randomly selected rooms.
“Whoa…”
As soon as she entered, someone was startled by the four glowing red lights that suddenly appeared in the darkness, almost causing her to scream.
But soon, Vilyric realized that the red light wasn’t some terrifying mutant creature but rather eyes—human eyes.
In the dimly lit room, two girls stood against the walls, one on each side.
They were dressed in standard medieval maid black-and-white uniforms, hands placed on their small abdomens, standing stiffly like spears. The older one appeared to be around twenty, while the younger one seemed to be about the same age as Liliya.
The two girls looked quite similar; they were likely sisters.
Although the room was unlit, Vilyric could still make out their hair and eyes, both dark red—a classic Blood Clan color like blood—and in this dim environment, their sudden appearance was a bit frightening.
Moreover, the state of these two girls piqued the Priestess’s curiosity.
First of all, no normal person would linger in a completely sealed room, moving around in total darkness, not even Blood Clan members. Vilyric had never heard of such a peculiar habit among them.
They only feared or disliked sunlight.
Additionally, since Vilyric entered the room, these sisters hadn’t moved at all, standing there like wooden stakes from start to finish. Even when their gaze was drawn by the open door, there was no attempt to come over and close it.
They surely couldn’t see the Priestess draped in the “Chameleon Cloak,” which made their behavior even more unusual.
Even the maid waiting in the room would surely realize something was off if the locked door suddenly opened on its own. A timid one might even scream.
After thinking for a moment, Vilyric decided to gently close the door behind her, plunging the room back into darkness before moving closer to the two maid sisters to observe them further.
First, she cast a barrier over the room to prevent any unexpected incidents, and then the Priestess removed her “Chameleon Cloak,” revealing her appearance.
Still no reaction.
The two maids’ hollow dark red eyes didn’t even react the way they did when the door opened.
“?”
Vilyric frowned, waving her hand, and directly cast a low-level illumination spell that dispelled the darkness in the room, making it bright and cheerful.
Surprisingly, even after all that, the sisters still showed no significant reactions, merely squinting slightly, as if they were unaccustomed to the sudden brightness.
“???️”
“I don’t believe it!”
Determined not to be outdone, Vilyric boldly placed her fingertip on the shoulder of the older-looking maid and activated “Information Detection.”
