Chapter 151

Chapter 91: The Blood Manor

This manor, although Vilyric didn’t know much about it, based on the family crest carved on the front gate, it clearly belonged to some noble of the kingdom.

“?”

After leaving the fruit grove and taking a few steps, Vilyric stopped and cautiously observed the outside by leaning sideways against the wall.

Behind her, the bouncing fruit spirit also mimicked the actions of the Priestess, trying to look just as cautious.

In front of the main gate, there were guards.

From their attire, they seemed like family soldiers or something similar. Since Vilyric hadn’t fought them and they didn’t exude any aura, it was difficult to gauge their strength from afar.

Given that the situation was unclear, it was best not to alert them.

She had to get past these two guards.

As a Priestess, Vilyric had no inherent stealth abilities; she relied entirely on a holy artifact called the 【Chameleon Cloak】 for concealment, which wasn’t particularly impressive.

Plus, there were numerous limitations.

For instance, she couldn’t attack during the invisibility period or withstand attacks of a certain strength, she couldn’t cast spells while invisible, and if she encountered high-level detection skills, around level 8, the 【Chameleon Cloak】’s disguise would be completely seen through.

The upside was that it had no cooldown; even if it was broken, she’d just need to wait a few seconds for it to activate again, but honestly, it was just a slightly more interesting toy.

Like back at the Iris Orphanage, when assisting Edwina in combat, the reason Vilyric waited for the fight to end before sneaking out to explain things to the Holy Knight wasn’t to show off; she was simply waiting for the cloak’s cooldown…

After all, the Priestess rarely needed to hide in the game. Some solo missions might allow her to use invisibility as a shortcut, but that required extremely high skill. It was impossible to do it just based on a few pieces of equipment, so she usually went in openly.

So, to be honest, Vilyric really wasn’t good at sneaking.

Though she didn’t think these two guards could cast level 8 magic, the issue was that they stood like gatekeepers directly in front of the not-so-wide entrance, occupying a lot of space. It would be tricky for Vilyric to push the door open and enter without alerting them.

After thinking for a while, the Priestess decided to stick to her previous method and enter through a window like she did when sneaking into the Princess’s bedroom.

Donning the 【Chameleon Cloak】, Vilyric circled around the manor but found that apart from the front door, there were hardly any windows on the ground floor, only a few gridded ventilation holes that a normal human couldn’t possibly fit through.

Strange…

It was just a fruit wine manor; was it really necessary to go to such lengths to prevent theft?

How could it be so dark that no light filtered through? Did the people inside have to light lamps even during the day?

Although it was possible that the lower floor was just a cellar for storing wine, there ought to be at least a few rooms for people to stay in.

Fortunately, the second floor had normal windows, even with open french doors, as if designed specifically for someone’s entrance.

Avoiding the guards and the occasional patrolling team, Vilyric looked up to estimate the window about ten meters high, took two steps back, and bent her knees…

Whoosh!

The white figure leapt up gracefully, landing lightly on the balcony like a leaf. She even had the leisure to spread her arms and made a somewhat exaggerated greeting to the empty room.

“Hey! Full marks! Is anyone here? I’m coming in!”

After joking a bit, Vilyric directed her gaze towards the room beyond the french window, which wasn’t particularly dim in the night.

The moonlight illuminated the space softly, casting a hazy glow, and with the Priestess’s excellent eyesight, it wasn’t difficult to see what was inside.

It was a rather noble and elegant abode, reminiscent of medieval European nobility–perhaps less grand than the palace or Liliya’s Mingluan Hall, but much more refined and graceful.

The owner of this place must be someone cultured in noble traditions.

Also, it was a young girl’s bedroom.

After a quick look around and seeing the dazzling array of gowns hanging in the wardrobe and the bunch of cosmetics on the table that Vilyric couldn’t comprehend at all, she came to that conclusion.

What surprised Vilyric, however, was that this room didn’t have a conventional bed; instead, there was a classical, grand, black-wooden… coffin!

The coffin was exquisitely crafted, adorned with numerous strange patterns and decorations of fine velvet and silk.

The lid of the coffin wasn’t tightly closed, allowing Vilyric to see the thick cushions and pillows inside, making it feel like an alternative bed.

No way, do these nobles find it so intriguing that they like to lie in coffins for sleep?

Wait, sleeping in a coffin… and not liking sunlight?

Why does this feel so familiar?

No way, but this is the United Kingdom of Humans; how is it possible…

Just then, a peculiar energy fluctuation suddenly caught Vilyric’s attention.

Being in enemy territory and with the situation unknown, the Priestess was undoubtedly cautious; anything unusual would immediately alert her.

The black-haired girl searched around for the source of the strange energy but found nothing. Further sensing, she realized the source was actually coming from her item pouch!

“?”

Without a moment’s slack, Vilyric quickly plunged her hand into the void, searching a bit until she finally found the source of the anomaly and pulled something out.

It was a blood-red bat-shaped brooch.

This piece of equipment was the only item Vilyric had obtained from the Blasphemous Cocoon in the Reflection World of the Forgotten Land.

Nurtured for three hundred years by the Pseudo-God-level Blasphemous Cocoon with the souls of millions from the Glorious City, even its own essence, it was an immensely powerful, truly sacred-grade artifact—one that outclassed the 【God’s Guardian Ring】.

This was also the only sacred-grade item she had seen in this world so far.

At this moment, it wasn’t quietly resting anymore; it was flickering with red light in the night, sending a cool, vague thought through her palm.

Sacred-grade equipment generally possesses a certain degree of sentience; although it hadn’t developed a true spirit yet, under certain conditions, it could autonomously react.

Just like what was happening now.

If Vilyric was correct, the source of the brooch’s sentience likely came from the blood clan Duchess named Afra Constance.

To be accurate, it was a portion of her soul that hadn’t completely dissipated after her death, absorbed by this brooch over the course of three hundred years.

That was why when Vilyric touched the brooch, she resonated with a fragment of Afra’s memories.

Since Afra’s soul was showing a fluctuation…

It meant there was indeed something related to the blood clan in this manor.

And furthermore, the owner here was—blood clan!
