From hearing the explosion to appearing here, it was no more than three minutes. Even the Eastern Yuan Guards, who were active in the surrounding area, seemed not to have arrived yet.

The newcomer was none other than Master Mo Ziqing, who had crossed paths with Vilyric and the others at the registration site and helped Fish Dan’er solve her troubles. He was also the superiors of General Wen Zhengyang from the Black Scale Army.

The old man chuckled.

“Those exciting competitions are better suited for the young folks. As an old guy with no enthusiasm left, I might as well use my still-functional bones to do something useful, don’t you think? You see, if I weren’t here, it would only add to the trouble, right?”

Nodding thoughtfully, Vilyric quickly understood what he meant.

“You are specifically stationed here for protection? What could warrant the leader of the Five Element Sect to do something like this personally?”

Master Mo waved to the recently arrived Eastern Yuan Guards, who quickly threw themselves into the urgent firefighting efforts, while he himself turned and walked towards a remote area.

Leading Vilyric and Miss Xiao Kong, the sect leader brought them to a small house next to the explosion and fire point. This place was heavily guarded, but instead of the Eastern Yuan Guards, it was the Black Scale Army under Master Mo’s command that stood watch.

“The Central Room, please come in.”

With Master Mo leading the way, the guards, though puzzled, did not attempt to stop the two newcomers. They smoothly crossed the courtyard and entered the small house.

Unlike the unremarkable exterior, the room, though just over a hundred square meters, was filled with various special metallic vessels of all sizes, each sealed with paper talismans that resembled charms. They looked somewhat like magical jars used to seal away a great demon, giving off an odd and mysterious aura.

The Black Scale Army’s guard extended only to the door, but inside was completely empty. Master Mo secured the door, relit the candles scattered about, and smiled apologetically at the two girls.

“It’s a bit cramped, not a place meant for guests, but please make do.”

The Priestess made no comment.

“So what are these jars, exactly?”

After thinking for a moment, Master Mo stroked his white beard and smiled slyly.

“Actually, according to regulations, this information is only known to His Majesty the Holy Monarch and those like us who are Five Element Sect members. However, due to the special circumstances, I can make an exception to disclose it to you, but…”

The two exchanged glances, and the Priestess nodded.

“Also, don’t call me Miss Vilyric!”
