Chapter 165: The Divine Summoning Key

Meredith and his team discovered during a recent investigation into the dissection of a Destroyer Beast that these creatures do not seem to be true independent individuals. Instead, they are… connected by some incomprehensible force and appear to be indirectly controlled by certain special individuals. This corroborates our previous assessments of various habits of the Destroyer Beasts!

This means that if we can identify the true individual controlling the Destroyer Beasts and the Matriarch Beast, and eliminate them completely, we may be able to wipe out all Destroyer Beasts in one fell swoop and liberate this world!

The discussion this time is unprecedentedly heated. Many people hold concerns and a pessimistic attitude towards the course of action, believing that if we can’t even handle the Destroyer Beasts, then recklessly confronting the even more mysterious forces behind them would be tantamount to self-destruction, and could even completely extinguish the last flicker of Starfire.

… Did I not also realize this was a risk? Yet we have no choice left.

At most in another three years, the resources hoarded in the Tower of Babel will be completely exhausted. We will be forced to confront the endless threat of the Destroyer Beasts and venture into the outside world to seek and replenish supplies. In just under four short years, our numbers have plummeted from three hundred thousand to two hundred fifty thousand, and among ten exploration teams, not even one has returned with resources.

Finding the entity behind the Destroyer Beasts sounds simple, but in reality, it is incredibly difficult. If we can’t even accomplish the first step, further discussions are meaningless.

Based on the theory proposed by Meredith and their team, Starfire has concentrated all resources to create an device called the Divine Summoning Key.

This device utilizes a technique that the Harlent Empire had yet to complete; it is a crucial step in their divinity project. If it weren’t for Starfire concentrating all the world’s remaining exceptional talents and rare resources, it would never have been fully realized.

I firmly believe that in the already established multiverse theory, true gods exist in those other unknown worlds. If there is someone orchestrating those endless Destroyer Beasts from behind the scenes, they could only be genuine deities.

That is the divine punishment bestowed upon this world, a retribution for us who dare to tread into the realm of gods.

But even so, we will not sit idly by.]

The Tower of Babel has completed its charging. This greatest crystallized creation of the Harlent Empire can draw endless power from the ley lines and transform it into a true weapon to slay gods.

We will use the Divine Summoning Key to summon the true God into this world and plead for Their forgiveness. But if it’s already beyond saving… this will be our final card.

The fate of the entire world hinges on this moment. No one knows what we will eventually face; we can only hope… that Starfire will not be extinguished.]

After this page of the journal, there were suddenly numerous signs of pages being torn, but it did not seem to be intentional destruction; rather, it seemed more like the writer was in a chaotic state of mind, using this violent method to vent their confusion and anger.

Their ending was already known to Miss Vilyric, but she was still unclear about what happened afterward.

Fortunately, after tearing through a large number of drafts, the writer ultimately left behind a relatively complete record.

How laughable, the Harlent Empire, Starfire… and this world.

I remember the academic community once repeatedly proclaimed that gods are merely a type of special creature with greater power, a higher form of life. Even we humans, if we persistently strive, can touch, confront, and even shape gods.

But that was ultimately a narrow perspective.

The power of the gods far exceeds anyone’s expectations, and the Destroyer Beasts we face are merely the dust that has brushed against Their shadow.

When that darkness descended… the very world withered, and we, as insignificant beings, lacked the capacity or qualifications to even communicate with it.

We exerted all our efforts, but the Tower of Babel crumbled under Their power, and this world’s final resistance was as child’s play. Starfire has been destroyed, and we have ultimately repeated the fate of the Harlent Empire.

Arrogance.

Mortal beings cannot combat the gods. No matter what methods are employed, the outcome will not change.

The world is withering, and having lost the protection of the Tower of Babel, it won’t be long before I too will perish, although there’s only a one in a million chance. Nonetheless, I will store these records of the last remnants of Starfire together with the Divine Summoning Key.

The multiverse theory is correct; I can only hope that in the distant future… someone will come across them.

To the alien traveler, if you can break through the layers of the Destroyer Beasts to reach here, take them away—take away our last legacy of the Rezdnes World, and bring back the traces of what once existed in this world to your homeland.

Though the Divine Summoning Key was destroyed by Their power during that ritual, rendering it incapable of summoning again, it remains the peak crystallization of our world’s craftsmanship. I am not Meredith and cannot accurately describe its condition. But if you can fully analyze its principles, it may be of great help to you.

And lastly, I wish to remind you, regardless of how powerful you or your world may consider yourselves, what crises you are facing, or what ambitions you hold, never… call upon that name which should not be known.

It is the source of destruction, the end of the world, a disaster that exists in a completely different dimension from the mere Destroyer Beasts.

Closing the journal in her hands, the Black-haired Girl fell into slight contemplation.

She had basically figured it out.

This wasteland should be a part of the world once called Rezdnes, or perhaps the core of it, and the reason it had fallen to its current state, while the journal did not fully elucidate the beginning and end, had already conveyed eight or nine parts of the truth.

If only the God-Made Beasts created by Xi Fu existed, it would naturally be impossible to completely destroy a world from its roots, as they only kill living beings in the world but do not undermine the true foundation of the world.

Thus, the key to this world’s downfall probably lies with the unknown god summoned by the Starfire organization using the Divine Summoning Key.

The writer had clearly left words behind, but they seemed to have been erased by some power, reminiscent of a situation Miss Vilyric encountered when she used Information Detection to investigate the true names of certain existences.
